Eh ive been here twice for pizza and same results. Pizza taste like cardboard with cheese. Perhaps the other food here is better. Not willing to go back unless one of their other dishes convinces.

My favorite pizzeria in existance. Great pizza and italian food. I have likely eaten more captians pizza then all my other food. And if you are communist amd dont like pizza try the chicken cutlet salad its spectacular.

This place used to be my favorite Italian restaurant in New York. Hands down. Now? They can’t even get a pasta dish right. I ordered the Cavatelli Chicken Marsala special, and it was practically inedible. Had maybe two bites of it, and to his credit, the server inquired as to why I didn’t like it. Respectfully, I informed him that while I’m usually a fan of Captians, this dish was really salty, undercooked, and was a miss. Another person in my party ordered the Pork Chop with Vinegar Peppers — big mistake. Was drowning in an indescribable sauce(it was supposed to be *grilled*, not in sauce at all — and the sauce wasn’t even good — totally flavorless), undercooked — nothing like it used to be, and nothing like an Italian American restaurant in the Bronx should serve. And really disappointing was the salad. I know what you might be thinking — «salad?» But captain’s always served a legendary, large family-style salad. It’s now shrunk to 1⁄3 of its size — and you’re supposed to use your bread plate. Now listen, there’s nothing inherently *wrong* with that, but for a place that used to serve you full size plates and a heaping pile of delicious salad, was really disappointing. I’m not mad, just sad. This place ain’t what it used to be, folks.

One of the few places left in the Bronx where you get a «steady» good slice each and every time. I have never been disappointed. My kids insist we hit this place on our trips to the Bronx Zoo. And I stop hear regularly while on the road working. Clean place and a pleasant staff.

Good solid old school Italian food. The restaurant is in the back, if you didn’t know to look for it you’d assume it was just a pizzeria. Once you go in the back you will eat like a King! The portions are huge and definitely made to share.

One of the best restaurants in Morris Park. Don’t be fooled by thinking it is just another pizzeria. The food is great and the staff, especially Stefania, is cordial. Don’t pass this place up.

Best pizzeria in The Bronx, in my opinion. Staff is very cool and a specific staff member is very pissed about the Packers game last night hahahahaha. Best Chicken Francese I’ve ever had I must call them atleast 2 – 3 times a week for that dish in particular. Although, they do make it hard to NOT switch it up from time to time with the variety of food they make, FIVESTARS!

This is my favorite, local pizzeria and go to for authentic Italian-American food. It is well priced, clean, family owned and operated, always busy, and always offers good service. Never in the 20-ish or more years of eating at Captain’s have I ever had bad or unfriendly service, or bad food either. Captain’s offers take out with seating like traditional pizzerias, delivery, or sit down table service at the back of the pizzeria. It is very causal. The pizza is always tasty, fresh, and well made — the slices are large — not average, and there is a variety of toppings and types like chicken parm, salad, eggplant, and white. They offer the staple Italian entrees, and their sauce(or gravy depending on where you come from) is tasty like grandma’s. The restaurant part does serve alcohol, but there is not actual bar, and choices are limited. I do wish it was open later. Overall, Captain’s is a Morris Park essential.

I came with my family about a week ago, there was 6 of us. My grandfather comes here all the time he loves it. My family, boyfriend and I enjoy this place. Workers are friendly, service is good, and food is amazing! Fish is fresh, chicken is white meat, and there sauce is delicious! We come here often but never wrote a review and I should because they deserve it!

This is my go-to take out place for pizza, they definitely deliver the goods. The pizza is the real deal — very authentic; if you’re looking for classic Bronx pizza you’ll find it here. The calzones are also delicious — both the meat and the cheese ones bring me right back to my childhood; their sausage and pepper roll is also great. For non-pizza, my go-to is the chicken capricciosa; they fry the cutlet perfectly and it has a good cheese/chicken/greens balance. The Captain’s Salad is also a good choice. Portions are large and everything always tastes fresh. I usually order take-out but they have a dining room in the back for sit-down. I’ve only eaten in-house once or twice and I have no complaints. The Bronx, especially Morris Park, has a lot to offer for pizza choices, and this is definitely one of the better places.

I’ll raise them one star. I like the buffalo chicken slices. The chicken rolls are really good and the grilled chicken salads are great. The owner is kinda stingy and not too friendly. The older son is super laid back and friendly. The younger son is polite but less friendly. I’ve eaten here dozens of times but have never seen the back room lol.

My boyfriend and I ordered take out here the other night. I was pretty pleased with everything other then our items that had ground beef in it. I do not know what but we seemed to think the beef tasted weird. All the chicken and calamari dishes were yummy. But the riagtoni bolenges tasted funny… as did the meatballs.

Ate here the other night, it was OK. Even though it’s a small dining room in the back of a pizzeria, I was expecting more. I just had chicken parm, it was lukewarm and good but nothing spectacular. The portion of chicken was pretty decent but the chicken was pounded out to maybe an 1⁄8th inch so it appeared at first to be more than it actually was, the serving of pasta on the side was extra skimpy. The servers were nice, the décor could use an update. I will try it again, other meals on the next table looked good, but I will be in no rush to return.

We had take out in the office. We all love the food. We had penne a la vodka with chicken! The sauce was delicious, the chicken was grilled and very tasty. It was just delicious. My co workers had fettuccini Alfredo, he loved it. We all loved the mozzarella sticks and the salads. The bread was warm too. It could be on the pricey side depending on your budget but the food it’s well worth it. The portions are huge, you could definitely eat lunch and dinner just out of one portion! They are also good about delivering on time, overall great place. Will eat here again, again!
