Well worth the trek here to Northern Riverdale! The staff were incredibly friendly, knew just what my necklace clasp needed, and cleaned everything too. Great prices and great service go a long way with me :) there was absolutely nothing sketchy about the place and I highly recommend it!

This is a very charming little store with honest sellers and great prices, too! I and my husband were overwhelmed by the politeness and service they provided us with. We bought our beautiful wedding rings there, and although mine was too large, the replacement arrived only on the next day, of which I was immediately informed via phone. It’s a real «jewel» among jewelry stores !!!

Wonderful experience. Dropped off two watches and waited barely 10 minutes to replace both batteries and a band. Cost was very inexpensive. Friendly staff also helped me and my girlfriend with our ring sizes.
Caution– If you’re parking along Riverdale Ave., make sure you pay the Muni Meter ASAP. Traffic cops love that area.

Just got my watch adjusted here today. I was greeted warmly, helped immediately, and had my watch back in under 5 minutes. Price wasn’t bad either ($ 10). I’ll definitely be back to get my batteries changed.

Among the last of the old-​fashioned small shops run by an experienced watchmaker and jeweler that charges fairly, does good work, can perform the occasional miracle and isn’t run by ripoff artists or one of the chains. Have patronized them for 5 years for small watch and jewelry repairs and have always been served well.
Will be a sad day when the owner decides to retire or sell, because there will be nobody like him left.
BTW, I live far away from Riverdale. This place, while not flashy or spruced up, is worth the trip.

My watch had died, and was driving me nut all day not having it working (but carried it around in case i ran in to a jewelry shop). I was having a movie day with my Grandma in Yonkers and she needed to stop at the a&p on the way home and told me to run across street to Brown’s for new battery. My Grandma raved about this place and said she’s been going their for a long time (and a lot of my awesome christmas gifts came from there apparently). The guy that fixed my watch and the guy at the front were both super friendly! It took the man about 5 minutes to replace the battery and was $ 6.75. I was very impressed with have fast it was and how great the price was. I will definitely be returning!

I recently went to have a gold chain repaired at a local jewelry store. When I heard the price I cringed and walked out. My friend told me to try Browns Jewelers on Riverdale ave and boy am I glad I did. The cost was minimal and the repair was beautiful. I will send all my friends here for sure. They treat you fair and do great work.

This is a really nice locally owned jewelry shop. They’ve been very helpful every time I’ve come in, even when I made it clear that I wasn’t planning to buy anything. They once fixed my watch, and when I offered to pay they told me not to worry about. That’s the kind of behavior that breeds loyalty!

Brown’s is the best jewelry store ever — and I speak from experience. My Dad owned a chain of them. I brought in one necklace needing a new clasp, one pair of earrings with a post too big for my ears, and on watch needing a new battery. I paid $ 6.75 for all of this. I will go back to check on another repair and purchase a pair of pearl earrings. Great experience and well worth a trip to northern Riverdale.

I’m not big into fine jewelry and didn’t know where to turn when I needed someone to look at an antique pocket watch that was inherited but I picked Brown’s Jewelers because of Unilocal reviews. I thought perhaps all the good reviews were just a bit TOO good to be true but every good thing said about them IS true!
I was blown away!
My spouse was told that this pocket watch could not be fixed but John, the store owner, had it wound up and ticking in minutes! He was able to tell me some history on the type of watch it was and said that it could use a cleaning, but he in no way put pressure on me to do so. I opted to have it cleaned. It was repaired on time and under the estimate that was given. Additionally, there was a one-​year warranty on the repair.
What a gem!

Unbelievable experience. I was nervous about going to a Jeweler when I was ready to buy an engagement ring. I didn’t know anything about diamonds or gold — or their value — and worried that some «shyster» would try to take advantage of me. John at Brown’s put me right at ease. With a grandfatherly «every guy comes in here nervous» approach, he calmly explained options and met with us several times to create the perfect ring.
Reasonable prices. Extraordinary customer service.
I will never go anywhere else.

What a fantastic jewelry shop — it is very quaint and the service is outstanding. Not often do you find such kind and considerate people who genuinely care about your jewelry needs, prompt and more than reasonably priced. John — the store owner is wonderful, makes you laugh and then does quality work with the jewelry you leave to be repaired. I thought I was just getting my jewelry fixed but instead I got a feel good experience, for a great price and had the chance to support a local business that is a treasure to the neighborhood. Highly recommended!

This place is perfect. Everyone, especially John, is kind and knowledgeable and you can feel good about leaving your precious jewelry with them. The repairs are incredibly reasonably priced as well. I used to get my jewelry repaired here for years and moved away a few years ago. Since then I have been to many other unhelpful, cranky, expensive jewelers and after having been back this past weekend, I realize it is completely worth the trip uptown. Expected to go in and drop my repairs off, but left with a huge smile on my face from the wonderful service.
