Doggie D’Tails II The Lodge

Okay, so I’m going to bullet point my pros and cons of this facility to attempt to make it as honest as I can:
Pros:
Appointments are easy to make and are within a reasonable amount of time
Facility is clean and well kept
Pet comes out smelling nice and appearing overall clean and in better physical condition prior to appointment
Pet comes out of facility happy
Cons:
A bit expensive for quality of grooming
–we previously took our dog to a new groomer out of Muskogee just to try them out. His coat appeared to be better trimmed and shaped up for $ 30 than it cost to get him clean and only slightly trimmed for $ 45
Staff not very helpful with suggestions for how to possibly groom dog’s hair
— staff asked how we wanted our new dog groomed, we asked how other’s normally like to groom their Poodle/​Bichon mixes, and staff couldn’t give me or my fiancé a decent direction as to how we could have our new dog groomed
Staff’s friendliness varies
— we had taken another dog of our’s there in the past and they always got a bow of some sort, yet this dog cost roughly $ 15 less than our newly adopted Bichon mix. Our Bichon didn’t get anything except advice from the front desk about how our dog may have an ear infection, which was nice… but it would still have been nice to see this dog with some kind of trinket of appreciation, considering he cost $ 45. At the groomer in Muskogee, $ 30 got our dog a complementary bandana as well.
Unsure of how much attention to provided to dogs
–each of our dogs that have been to this business have come back very thirsty. Our Bichon mix literally drank water for three minutes straight once he got home. I’m not trying to accuse the groomer of maltreatment, but I feel as though I’d be ignorant not to notice
I may seem hung up on the bandana factor, but really it’s just about the overall friendliness and appreciation that I have trouble with. Yes, groomers can definitely help maintain our dog’s coat more than we could ourselves; however they wouldn’t be grooming dogs if they didn’t have any business.

Have been taking my dog here for years. Good value for the services offered. They have grown into a bigger company and the service reflects that at times.
If you are looking for a more personable experience I would suggest finding a smaller groomer, but if you don’t mind the wait when you go to drop off or pick-​up your pets, then this a good place for you.

My husband and I started taking our dog to Doggie D’tails by Karen when they were in their original location. That location is currently being remodeled and we were referred to The Lodge (same owner and staff). It’s farther from our house than we’d like, but the quality of service and the friendliness of the staff is worth the drive. We’ve had bad experiences with groomers in the past, so we figure since we’ve found a good one we better hang onto them. They recommend you make an appointment, but supposedly they take walk ins. Business has picked up lately and we called a week ahead and barely got our dog in for a Saturday. During the week seems to be easier to get in last minute. Grooming drop offs are between 6am and 10am but the earlier the better. If you drop your dog off closer to 10, you won’t be able to pick them up until closing time (4pm on Saturdays) and believe me closing time is super busy. You will want to avoid that time frame unless you have time to kill. They are willing to work with your schedule on the pick up time, just let them know when you’re available.
The staff always does a good job with our dog and she always leaves happy. They listen to our requests and keep records on any concerns we have (sensitive skin, spots to avoid, dew claws, etc). The staff is friendly and the owner Karen is usually manning the front desk.
Their lobby area (which is themed like a log cabin) has a small shop filled with dog treats, food, clothing, accessories, pet candles, and shampoos/​conditioner/​dog perfume. Aside from grooming, this location offers boarding and doggie day care. I haven’t seen the boarding facilities but I imagine they could give you a tour if you were interested in that service.

I take my dog here to get her tails trimmed all the time. I took her to a different place and she was traumatized through the process. I was very glad to find Doggie D’tails. Now, she leaves just as happy as when she arrives. My dog loves Karen so I love Karen.
