This is currently the only Dairy Queen in the Tulsa area that has chocolate ice cream! There are 2 new DQs, one on Admiral and one in Owasso and neither offer chocolate ice cream. Considering that ice cream is the main selling point of DQ you’d think they’d offer more than one flavor. I will only go to this DQ until the others stop this disturbing chocolate genocide. 5 stars for being an ice cream restaurant offering more than one flavor of ice cream!

I remember going to DQs in my youth for post summer activity celebrations, either getting a blizzard, a dipped cone, or my personal favorite. the dilly bar. As I and my tastes grew up, I seemed to have forgotten about the wonders of DQ, and didn’t really notice that none were around the Tulsa area. Despite the Sonic Drive-In monopoly found in Oklahoma, it’s good to know that 1) more DQs are coming to the area and 2) that one is relatively close by. I’m regretful of all the miss opportunities, especially now that you can get a full on meal(entrée, side, drink and a dessert) for $ 5, or upgrading to a mini blizzard for an extra buck. I didn’t indulge myself too much this visit and opted for a small chocolate malt. It was good. The wife is a DQ and blizzard fanatic and this outing was mainly for her benefit. Perhaps we’ll be back or perhaps we’ll just be hopeful that one opens up closer to us.

If I had written this review 10 months ago it would have been bad. The«Blizzard» toppings tasted freezer burnt and the drive thru was always backed up. When my husband and I saw that the drive thru was 15 cars long we decided to go inside, thinking it would be faster. I think all of the cars got served before we did! The workers were goofing off inside and leaving their personal drink cups and hoodies in random places in the lobby. It was a horrible experience. HOWEVER my husband and I went back last weekend, because we had a coupon from their Blizzard Club, and the drive thru went much faster! The parking lot of pretty empty, but there were a few cars in front of us. Yay for being on task! The workers still acted like they didn’t want to be there, but at least the toppings tasted fresher. And that is the point, to have great tasting ice cream creations at an ice cream place. They need new lights in the parking lot, it always looks closed. And the lobby is set up weird. There is no ordering queue; it’s just an open space with freezers on the side, the ice cream expediting area on the other side, and the drink station in the back. No where to stand when you’re waiting for a to-go order. When there are more than 5 people in that area it feels claustrophobic. The first time we went was during their grand opening, and the lobby was packed. It was impossible to order our food and go back to get our drinks b/c it was so full of people. Just not a good layout in my opinion. I really like their ice cream cakes. According to my husband this is the only ice cream cake in existence and all other so-called ice cream cakes are posers. This ice cream cake has zero cake… none. Its vanilla and chocolate ice cream stacked to look like a cake, with a chocolate fudge and cookie crumble layer between the ice creams. With whipped topping on the top for frosting. I tried it and I am a believer! This location better keep it together, it’s the only DQ we have in the area! We can’t lose it! Go here and order dessert, but don’t go inside unless you have time to kill.
