Make sure you keep count how many drinks or beers you have! They always add a couple to your bill figuring you lost count. This happened on a few occasions had my usual 3 beers got charged for 5! The last time me and my wife counted. I had 3 beers she had 2 drinks… we got charged for 5 beers and 3 drinks! When I noted error to bartender he got mad blamed me etc! Will never go back!!! …BTW food is so– so and place is old and dirty.

This was probably the worst meal I’ve eaten in years. We ordered a pupu platter for two. Where to begin with how bad it was? First, the items. ONE egg roll in a pupu for two. NO shrimp. Four tiny chicken fingers. Four skimpy teriyaki strips that were so old that my dog wouldn’t eat them. The food was not fresh and the portions were tiny. We also ordered the rice and it was so mushy that it might as well have been mashed potatoes. That tells me that the rice had been sitting in a vat for a couple of days. Wonder when the last time the Brockton BOH toured their kitchen. They seem to be renovating which must be where all their money is going because it’s not going into the food. This will be my last visit to the Maui.

From the outside it looks like a pretty generic chinese food place, and lets face it the inside isnt much better. But damn is their food good! One of the best chinese food places ive ever had. And karaōke night is great entertainment. Oh yeah and their drinks are great, my favorite being«the mother fucker»

Rude wait staff. But the food, while good is very overpriced and the portions are quite small compared to other restaurants. Substitutions will cost you a pretty penny($ 1.25). Due to the limited combo choices(other places give you way more options), substitutions any combo meal could end up costing $ 14. That’s a lot for the area, rude waitstaff, and atmosphere. Also, when the waitress brought my change to our table, my bills were soaked from the cognac shots she placed on top of my change and spilled. It wouldn’t have been so hard to get new Change lady!

Don’t know what restaurant you 5-star reviewers were at, but it couldn’t have been this one. This place has been here forever, and it shows. Too nasty to eat-in. Only thing I recommend is the Saugus wings, to-go.

Went here with my son this past Sat, Nite. The staff is rude. Two servers were arguing about which table to sit us at. 1st bad sign. Food was nasty. My fried rice was so greasy and it had black pieces of burned something in it, I think it might have been carbon pieces from the wok, I don;‘t know, had one fork full of it and that was all I needed. The chicken was tasteless and a bit slimy. YUCK. Your better off eating at Wendy’s across the street. also, my son puked later on, because he ate his food. nasty place to eat, you might as well eat out of the dumpster in the back. Awful.

I’m giving Maui 5 stars solely on the food… which is the best Chinese I’ve had from anywhere near! The place hasn’t changed from when I had been 20+ years ago, definitely needs updating! But still in much better condition than Yangtze! They really could use a more friendly, personable staff. The waitstaff are terribly impersonal… really cold! But I’ll definitely return and try hanging at the bar, because the food is just that good!

Great place to be, the food here is exquisite. Drinks are fabulous, especially the scorpion drink. The service here is great, and it has a very friendly environment.

I’ve lived 15 minutes from this place for over 12 years and never tried it until about 2 months ago. It is now our favorite chinese restaurnat for take-out. We used to have several places around that offered quality food but most have closed and new places have opened that are offering some of the worst chinese food I’ve ever tasted. About 2 months ago my family and I were looking for somewhere to get take-out and a guy I work with recommeded this place. I never knew it existed but I decided to give it a try. The outside of the restauraunt was a bit sketchy and when I got inside it looked like it hadn;t been updated since the 70’s. But when I got home with the food we were surprised at how good it was. Everything from the appetizers(best egg rolls and dumplings ever) to the main meals were increadible. We have since gone back 4 more times and each time it has been as good. The general gau chicken is very similar to one of my favorite places I used to go to as a kid so finding this place has been awesome. If you plan on eating inside the place, don’t let the crowded parking lot fool you. The place is pretty large and everytime I’ve gone there the lot was full but most were there for take-out. Plenty of seats. This is my go to chinese restauraunt now.

Let me preface that I haven’t experienced the night life/dine in and I am strictly reviewing the food and service. They food is good American Chinese food, they actually have a decent lunch combo plate and it’s not too pricey. I recommend Lunch Combo #1 where you can pick 4 items for $ 9.85! Like where are you going to find that? The service is prompt and very professional as well! This is my go to late night Brockton Chinese spot when the mood strikes!

I’ve found this place to be hit or miss. The service is mostly good, some of the wait staff are funny, some quiet but very efficient. The drinks are pretty good. The food really varies. Ive ordered the same thing one time to the next and it seems like different meals. Sometimes light, very well executed and flavorful, then the next time it may be spicy, or it may be heavy and greasy.

Food is awful, drinks are awful and the whole place is in serious need of a makeover. The crab rangoons taste as if they have a whole onion inside of each one. The karaōke and comedy nights aren’t enough to make give this place a better rating. Not a must go.

Things I like about the Maui: cocktail waitresses, drinks, pricing, food, karaōke nights, the bar/lounge area which is alot bigger and comfier than most chinese establishments & the fact that Keno is available. Things I do not like about the Maui: the young adult who stands at the front desk area and runs the Keno machine. Let me preface my last visit by saying that I’m not a regular, nor a first time patron to the Maui, but I am however, a loyal customer for many years now and I haven’t had an experience as bad as my last one at the Maui ever or anywhere else for that matter. Our waitress had submitted my Keno ticket for play earlier in the night and as our party was heading out, I stopped at the hostess/take-out/Keno desk to provide my ticket and gather my $ 2 winnings. We had cleaned off our table quite nicely and so when I put the Keno ticket on the surface in front of the man working the machine, I also placed the 1st ticket with the penciled in choices next to it, thinking he could throw it away for me. The young man said nothing to me as he reached over and grabbed the 1st Keno form, not the one needed to get my my $, I said nothing, figuring he knew what he was doing & could obviously see we were leaving, what with our jackets on and pocketbooks in hand… then he took the 2nd ticket & after punching it thru, asked me for $ 3. I was highly confused and said, «What?, I won $ 2.» He then said, «No, you never paid for this ticket.» You can pretty much get the jist of the rest of the conversation, I was not understanding how walking up with a $ 2 winning ticket meant that I owed $ 3. I even called my waitress over and said, «Can you please tell him that I paid $ 5 for this ticket and you brought it up for me?» Thats when the kid said, «I thought you were playing another game ‘cuz you handed me this ticket.»(Meaning the playing card 1st one.) I explained to him that I never handed that ticket to him, that I had put it on the desk to be thrown away & that he just took that one without asking me a thing. I said again that he owed me $ 2 and I didn’t owe him a thing. He said, growing increasingly spastic, he couldn’t give me $ 2 now that he owes the machine $ 3. A woman approached from the dining room and asked him what the problem was… before I could explain, he said, «Mom, she handed me this ticket or put it right here so I put it in first & now I owe the machine money.» Clearly siding with her son, she pointed out the fact to me that he could give me $ 2 but it would be coming out of his pocket because by the end of the night, he’d still have to pay money to the machine for the now, 5 more games that were mistakenly played. After the back & forths and the kid ridiculing me for the 19th time about how I put both tickets on the table and not to do that ever again, I finally decided enough was enough and told them to «forget it», then headed out the door. It’s too bad that my «likes» clearly outweigh my «dislikes» because I’ll be on a Maui hiatus regardless for sometime.

Good place to have some drinks and listen to the horrible sounds of people singing on karaōke night! Staff here is very friendly and funny. Drinks here are nice and strong! Not a bad place to come to when a lot of other places in the area close early. Haven’t tried the food, but I’m sure you would get your moneys worth at least. 3.5 stars

This is another, after my son’s basketball game, find. It was early when we arrived, we were probably the second customers of the day. The service was fast and excellent. The place is huge. I drove past later in the evening because I went to an auction that is close by, the parking lot was full. There’s a dj on Saturday night with a lounge area that you can dance in. They have Karaōke one night a week. Ok, now the food, I thought the food was tasty. My interest in crab rangoon is renewed thanks to the ones I had here. One of the best tasting crab rangoon I had in a while. Not that cream cheese taste, more of a crab like taste. I tried the General Gao’s Chicken which to my surprise was spicy with a tangy taste. I was surprised in a good way and really like the kick it gave my taste buds. Different from any that I had before. I went for lunch. The price is 9 dollars and you get your choice of 4 items. I’ll have to check it out on a Saturday night when the dj is there.

Maui has a lot of things going for it that elevate it in the category of Asian cuisine. The lunch specials are unbeatable. For $ 9 you get your choice of 4 items from a list of, say, 20 dishes. That doesn’t mean you only get one choice of meat/entrée either! Last time, I ordered General Gao’s, Roast Pork fried rice, crab rangoons, and Kung Pao Chicken… all above average in quality. What really sets this place apart is their portions. The server actually brought out 2 plates in order to hold my meal. Needless to say leftovers were a plus. Quality is good, servers are very attentive, and the atmosphere is pleasing. From experience, you need to dine in to have the larger portions. Must have: General Gao chicken… legitimately the best I’ve ever had.

Maui is, unfortunately, another subpar south of Boston Chinese restaurant. I went here with friends to go to Nick’s Comedy Stop, held on Saturday nights in the function room(separate review). We were the first people in the room and the waitress immediately took our drink orders. Drinks were decent, but no prices were listed on the menus(tropical-style drinks ended up being about $ 6 or $ 7, not bad). There are many choices on the menu, but nothing stuck out at me, and that was a bad sign early on. I ordered beef curry from the ala carte menu. I asked the waitress about a side of the fried rice, and she said I could do that with the pork. In the end I was charged full price for the rice, as if I had ordered the full portion. The curry was very mild and fully of slimy celery and water chestnuts along with the beef and onions. The fried rice was dry. I also shared some crab rangoon with the table; they were pretty standard. Other people in the group mainly got appetizers. There were over 100 people in the function room to watch the comedy show, but there was probably one waitress in there all night, so service was sporadic after we received our food, particularly on water refills. In addition, she left the food on the table all night and then wrapped up everything after the show ended(after which our unfinished food had been sitting out for an hour). I would consider coming back here for the comedy show, but I’ll probably eat at home first.

Recommended to me by a friends older brother who frequents the Maui, i ended up there late one night looking for good food and a good place to chill. And that was exactly what i found. The bar was packed(as is usual i guess) and we were seated all by ourselves in the dining room and attended to by a very helpful waitress. The food was good, not my favorite but very good and they have the full menu all night. So if you looking for a good late night bite, Maui is for you.
