The fudge was AMAZING! We stopped here on our way back from NH, and got some fudge to take home. We loved every bite of it! Especially the mint and raspberry flavors. Those were definitely the highlights. Check them out if you are in the area!

We have been eating here since the place opened, getting ice cream before they began offering lunch. It’s been one of our favored, staple places to eat when we vacation in the area every year. We are vegetarian and always appreciated the option to get a great sandwich other than the usual grilled cheese. We got the make your own sandwich every time we came and it was great although sometimes very soggy. Ice cream featured many delicious flavor choices and very high quality ice cream. Staff here this year was very nice, but it seemed that they needed a third person on this fairly quiet Sunday afternoon. One or two other sets of customers were there any time we went to the counter but there is a lot for the staff to do since so much is made fresh. We feel that the wifi password should be written somewhere visible so you don’t feel bad bothering the staff for it. We gave up on doing so until our food came. The outdoor seating has a great view and we always enjoy that. On this visit, we noticed that both the build your own sandwich and the ice cream flavor selection had dwindled quite a lot, making our orders a lot less exciting. There were no forms to fill out as there had been in the past(as is noted on the board-we did ask for the forms, too), so we ordered verbally which is a lot of information. We had to repeat some of our choices and unfortunately the bread choice was not what we ordered, or liked, at all. We really feel that the form is important to keep everything straight with so many variables. We didn’t say anything as the sandwiches took a really long time to come out, staff was busy, and we hate to waste food. Because of the delay one sandwich was also very soggy. We chose tap water and the staff did not caution us that there wasn’t any. The dispenser that we expected to use was missing its tank. This was not a terrible experience but not the usual, «looking forward to it» special type that kept us coming back each year. We weren’t full this year, either, after sandwiches, chips, and ice cream. The food was pretty good other than the bread we did not like and its sogginess. It didn’t seem as excellent as in previous years. I should mention that I gave this place a great review on another site one our last visit. After we ordered sandwiches and before ice cream, we were invited to open a tab, which sounded like a great idea. We went to pay the same staff member who took both our orders and delivered our food and ice cream, and we were only charged for ice cream. We decided we had to say something to settle our conscience and we paid the rest of the bill voluntarily. We didn’t feel that the staff was especially grateful for our coming forward, using our time to return to the cash register, and our honesty. That was a big mistake and could have gone the other way(overcharging us), as it could have happened to someone less forthcoming who would have taken the 70%ish discount and walked out.

Fudge was awesome just like Chronicle reported. You must go to the back room and have your snacks overlooking the river. Beautiful.

Delicious ice cream. They have unique flavors, too. I heard that the sandwiches are fantastic. We’ll be stopping by for lunch very soon!

I come to Bristol almost every summer, and one of the things I look forward to the most is going to The Mill for ice cream. The homemade ice cream is very good, but they also have a lot of variety and ‘swirl-ins’. But what really makes it stand out is their homemade hot fudge. AMAZING! The best ice cream I ever had was a special they had here one summer called ‘Rhythm and Blues’. It was blueberry ice cream with chocolate, graham crackers and hot fudge. I think they still make it occasionally, but I wish it was a staple during the summer. My other ice cream recommendation is to get vanilla ice cream and swirl in pumpkin pie and kit-kat and then top it with hot fudge. I don’t usually like fudge, but I do like their homemade fudge. And they have lots of flavors. This is also a good place to come for lunch, and I have had some good sandwiches here. It’s usually pretty quiet and you can sit on the balcony by the river.

Amazing homemade ice cream and wonderful staff! Downtown Bristol has come such a long way, and this charming place has remained open through all of the downtown renovations!

Had the bean burger. It was tasty. Decent coffee, but not great. Ice cream was super with plenty of toffee chunks. No skimping there. We’ll try they fudge when we get home. I’d come back again.

I haven’t had a chance to experience The Mill in all its glory at its storefront, but our office was sent some spirited fudge — the Cabin Fever Maple Whiskey(whisky?) and it was amazingly smooth and melty with a slight kick from the liquor. I’m super picky about fudge and this was perfect. I am currently looking at their website to see what to buy for the holidays. Sooo good, I want to take a trip to New Hampshire.

The Mill has something for everyone. I love the fudge and ice cream, of course, and I’m happy to be able to design my own salads, get vegetarian soups, and hot apple cider in season. Their hot chocolate is an experience! The cultural events in The Back Room are just right for a hometown experience. Our nephew was uplifted by poetry night and was thrilled to be able to read his own poem to an appreciative audience. Music, story telling and community forums have all found a home at The Mill. It is wonderful to watch a dream come to life!

Too bad that there are not two rows of stars, because I would give the Ice Cream and Fudge a 5 star review. The ice cream was worth abandoning any diet for and the fudge was oh-my-gawd great! A bit pricey, especially for this area, but, worth it. Unfortunately, the service and the sandwiches are woefully lacking. One of two silly teen-aged girls working that day brought our grilled cheese sandwiches that had been left in the grill so long, that there was virtually no hint of cheese left in it. It was as thin and tasteless as a piece of cardboard. Inedible. Since neither girl came out to check on us, we finally went forward to complain. In unison and in the best imitation of a valley girl, that I have ever seen in New Hampshire, they both smiled, shrugged their shoulders, and said … «Sooorrrrrrry. We paid and left our lunches behind, as well as the thought of ever going back for more.

Hands down the best ice cream and fudge, though I may be somewhat biased considering I worked here for four years. Ah well, they have an amazing product nonetheless. Since I’m an insider, I can confidently say that all of their products are made with high quality, fresh ingredients; something that many other places aren’t able to boast. The Mill has made its home in the oldest building in Bristol; a 1767 grist mill abutting the Newfound River — simply beautiful. This cute little ice cream café doubles as a music venue on Fridays(Open Mic) and Saturdays(concerts). They have a growing food menu(delicious paninis, fresh salads, homemade soups, hot chocolate and local apple cider), and have now added beer and wine to their list of reasons you should visit. Whether you’re heading up to the area to ski in the winter, vacation by the lake in the summer, or just visiting, you should absolutely stop by The Mill. Tip: Try the Belgian Chocolate ice cream with homemade caramel sauce. Yum :)

I loved this place. My wife and I had sandwiches and ice cream cones. We picked up some fudge to go. Everything was awesome. The people working here were really nice. Not sure what else to say about this place other than«go here now.»
