I stopped by here this past Monday night for some pizza by myself. San Genarros wasn’t my first choice in restaurants but whenever I stupidly decided to not look at the hours of my first choice only to find it closed, it is where I ended up. Parking for the restaurant is in the back and upon entering you proceed the length of the dining room to the hostess station in order to get seated. I was put in a booth with a view of the TV in the dining room which unfortunately only had on election news which was disappointing. After I was sat down I ordered a drink and then waited for awhile while my waitress ran around looking like a chicken with her head cut off. She only had four tables but was big time in the weeds. Whenever my server finally made it over to me I ended up ordering the 18″ buffalo chicken pizza. Thankfully it ended up coming out about 15 minutes later as I was hungry. Upon first inspection it looked delicious with a nice golden colored crust and ample amounts of cheese, chicken and buffalo sauce. As with all pizzas this one can be broken down into its three major components: crust, sauce and cheese. The crust was actually what I was most excited about with this pizza since they cooked it in a brick oven. I would say that it was a thin crust pizza but that it was disappointing. While the crust that showed was nice and crispy the underside of the pizza was rather doughy on one side. I imagine that this was due to an unevenly rolled dough. Next up is the sauce on this pizza which I thought was amazing. It had some great heat to it that was plenty hot and yet stayed away from being melt your face hot. It’s something that I would buy if they bottled it up. Unfortunately the heat ended up covering most of the flavor of the cheese but I was actually ok with that. Last but not least was the chicken for this pizza. It was cooked through and while most of the pieces were good, there was also a number of pieces that were not and so I chose not to eat them. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I would love to try their pizza again to see if the one I received was an abnormality or if that’s truly how they cook their za. They also seemed to have a number of interesting pies which intrigued me.

Have to update my review! I have been sick for a few days and haven’t been eating. Out of no where I got a huge craving for bruschetta of all things. We called a million places and no one had it. We called San Gennero and the chef offered to make it even though it’s not listed on the menu! He gave us a huge portion and it was absolutely delicious. Thank you guys!

Went there last night 3÷31÷2016. We were seated right away and Cassandra took our drink orders. She was very attentive. We placed our dinner order. The salads arrived quickly and were cold and excellently put together. Dinner was brought a very short time after we finished our salads. There were 5 of us and all dinners were excellent. The total check including a few beers was $ 79.55. I had a real laugh with the owner when I told him we went to Cava on West St. in Bristol a few months ago, and thought we would have to take out a second mortgage to pay the check, 6 people $ 400.00. No April Fool either !!! Save your money and enjoy San Gennaro! A lot of food for the money!

Went here last week because I have heard great things about it, and it did not disappoint. We wanted to try a new pizza place and their brick oven pizza was delicious. Beautiful ambiance inside too… Whether you go there with the family or bring a date it has a great atmosphere and the menu has something for all. Cant wait to go back and try the Alfredo :)

I am beyond impressed. I wanted to surprise my daughter and son in law on their anniversary but live on the other side of the state. I called and spoke to Manny and to Tony. They put together a amazing meal for them and were so courteous and kind. Although they don’t deliver they made a special exception for me. The food was amazing and huge portions. This will be our favorite place from now on. Great food and customer service. L. Bosse

1st visit for lunch on a Sunday afternoon… Wife and I heard good things about San Genarro so we decided to give it a go. Nicely decorated with plenty of seating. The place smells delish. There are only a few patrons here when we visit so we were seated promptly. Diet Pepsi and a glass of water are ordered. The waitress is courteous and attentive. She brings our drinks and takes our shared order for(1) large tossed salad and(1) small sausage, pepper and mushroom pizza. The salad is served. It has fresh garden greens, a heap of carrot stripes, a heap of sliced onions, a few cuke slices, a few cherry tomatoes, and a few olives. House Italian dressing on the side. The portion is plenty for two. Served on nice plates it was very good. Next, the pizza… baked in a real wood fired oven. Looks and smells good. Our first bite reveals that the center crust is not fully cooked. Not soggy, just sightly undercooked. So, we are a bit disappointed but it was not a deal breaker. The outer crust is perfect and is slightly sweet tasting. We like it. The pizza sauce and cheese are very good. However, we both like our pizza veggies to be slightly al dente. These pepper and mushroom veggies were a bit soft for our tastes. Again, no deal breaker here. The pizza, in general was good. Just not prepped to our typical likings. Overall we liked our meal experience here. I would have given a(4) star rating if the pizza was cooked for a minute or two longer which may have made the center a little crispier and maybe charred the veggies a bit. But the things I mentioned are just personal preferences and in no way should deter you from checking this place out. My guess is that you will enjoy your visit.

Came here for a family dinner. They not only accomodated our large group, but I had probably the best Caesar Salad with shrimp in a long time. They offer a small and large size salad. The small was huge. If you’re a group, the large is good. If you’re ordering a solo dish, get the small. Service was great, the chef/owner? came to our tables and personally asked how the food was. The inside décor is super cute, comfy yet not overly decorated. The only thing I wish is that they had more wine by the glass selection but the house Merlot I had was pretty decent. The pizza is thin crust and of what I tasted, pretty good. Prices were very reasonable. Our waitress was awesome.

We used to love this restaurant but lately we’ve been very disappointed in our orders. Having liked it previously, we continued to give them chance after chance but we’ve decided that it’s not getting any better– or back to the way it used to be a couple years ago. Besides sloppy and/or botched orders and overlooked dried out chicken on our grinders, we resorted to chicken Caesar salads which have seemed to be consistently decent. Maybe it’s because we ate in but after getting a couple salads for take out, we were disappointed to open our bags to Ken’s Salad Dressing packets :-(yes, the same low grade salad dressing packets that you get with your Salad Bar salads from any local grocery store. With the brand that they try to maintain, we were shocked that our takeout salads came with watery looking Cesar dressing. Maybe they fooled us and use the industrial size then put into salad dressing cups when you eat in but either way– huge disappointment. We will go to other, more authentic & consistent Italian places in the area.

All the staff who worked on 12÷11÷15 should be fired. Or retrained. We previously only ordered pizza to go but decided to step inside for a change. 7p on a Friday night and we walk in through the back entrance where one waitress is on a smoke break. Making our way to the hostess, I notice there are only 4 tables seated and they’re close to being done. We are sat at the window just 10 feet from the front of house and kitchen door. No one serves us for 15 minutes. The waitress serving the table two over completely ignores us. The hostess never mentions that there’s new customers to any of the other servers. Finally, the server who was smoking when we came in, comes over and asks if we’d been seen yet. When we said no, she said, «oh, I suppose I’ll be taking care of you». You suppose?! Like you suppose you’ll be doing your job tonight? We order drinks and we watch as the staff huddle and talk about us and their fuck up. You would think things would turn around then. But no. Our drinks are made and sit. Five minutes later they reach or table. We ordered buffalo wings that were good. In the meantime, a guy came in to get a pickup order and we noticed he complains of the wait too. While eating our garden pizza a guy and his son came in who knew the wait staff. They were doted on. Speaking of the garden pizza, never order it or anything with green olives in it. They are overpowering and this pizza was drenched in them. Pizza there takes 5 – 7 minutes to cook so this was supposed to be a quick eat on top of the fact no one was in the restaurant. We were there for nearly an hour because of the atrocious, slow, and unprofessional service.

Been waiting to try this place for some time but the inconsistency of their reviews kept me away until now. I ordered a large cheese pizza and a house salad. The salad was excellent although the accompanying packet of Ken’s Salad Dressing was disappointing. More disappointing was the pizza. While the sauce had nice fresh flavor to it the rest of the pizza was a mess. The pizza was room temperature by the time I got back to my place which is 7 minutes from the restaurant. The cheese was a congealed mess on top of the pizza and the crust was soft and spongy and devoid of taste. This pizza reminded me of a leftover slice pie that was tossed in the oven for a few minutes and then shipped out with the first customer unlucky enough to order it. I hate to waste food. I’ll choke down just about anything if someone went to the trouble to make it or pay for it but in this case after 3 slices(one right out of the box and the other 2 after I tried to reheat them hoping to improve on the soggy crust) this pie ended up in the trash.

This place is amazing. Clean and modern. The staff is wonderful. I had the calamari to start, was perfectly cooked and the peppers delicious. Their sauce is killer. I then had the ceasar salad again amazing great homemade light dressing. I ordered the margerita pizza and again I was blown away. Perfect thin crust wood fired oven— just perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will be back. Go– now.

Saw all the reviews that were pretty good so decided to try it and was very pleased. Food was excellent and pizza is brick oven cooked and is AWSOME. Try it out you won’t be let down. Only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because I ode red pizza tonight and they gave me the wrong price and I showed up with what they told me, there was a $ 11 difference and so I had to go all the way back home to get more money because I brought what was told to me. By time I got back my pizza was cold a bit and they never kept it hot for me. So I paid them more money for a cold pizza when they should’ve gluts gave it to me for the inconvenience

Although I was a little hesitant based on mixed reviews here, we had a nice experience. We entered about 35 minutes before the closing time, and were well served by a friendly and helpful waitress. They had about six beers on tap including one regional, and pretty good selection of wine for casual dining, and a more diverse menu than you might think. We shared an appetizer of fried calamari to start, and it was fresh, hot, and crispy and the sliced cherry peppers were a nice touch. We ordered three different 12 inch pizzas for the five of us, and we were not able to finish it off. I did not record the names of them other than the clams casino, but we also had the one with the prosciutto and arugula, and the one with the soppresetta, eggplant, garlic, etc. The ingredients were quality, and the pizza was well prepared. Good service, good pizza at a fair price. I’m good!

The only positive that came out of going to San Gennaros was that my meal was pretty good. However, I was with eight people. All of our meals came out at very different times. I was almost finished with my meal by the time my sister received hers. We were all boxing up our meals by the time my mother received her sub par steak. My sister waited for a half hour to get a dry martini with a twist. A half hour later she was given the wrong order. The next drink she received contained an orange, because«that’s how the bartender did it.» We saw no floor manager, the staff was dismantled to say the least. Finally the owner came over and we thought things would be resolved. The guy literally laughed at us and told us their the cheapest in town, so basically the service shouldn’t matter. We didn’t receive any apology. We then waited another half hour for our bill. Kind of sad, because the atmosphere was nice, but we will NEVER be back.

The recipe for a wonderful summer day: Outdoor patio, cold beer, and pizza, I say! Wonderful waitstaff and lots of food, Afterwards I was one full, happy dude. Got a Groupon for lunch when we were passing through Bristol. Couldn’t have asked for more. We started off with a Caprese Salad which was about 5 times the size of one that you would get at any other Italian restaurant. Mistakenly, we also got a regular«small» Garden Salad which was actually ENORMOUS. For our entrée we got a small specialty pizza with nice light, crispy crust and decent toppings. They also brought us bread with dipping oil. So… much…food. Needless to say we needed a doggy bag. Our waitress was pleasant. They had a cool little outdoor patio out front and a comfortable, modern interior with a brick oven if the outdoors aren’t your thing. Plenty of parking out back Several beers on draft, mostly macro-brews and Sam Adams. The house wine is really cheap and you pretty much get two full glasses for the price of one. Would recommend for lunch or a date.

Finally got a chance to try this place Thursday(11÷7÷13) night. After reading reviews and hearing from friends who have tried San Gennaro, it has been on my to-do list for some time. We parked in the front of the building and walked in through that entrance. There is also an entrance in the back of the building, as well as more parking. The inside of this place is very charming and warm. We were seated and our waitress kindly greeted us. I ordered a bud light. I always assume it will be a bottle, but she brought me out a draft and I was pleasantly surprised. I have never ordered a beer on draft that was as bubbly and fresh as this beer. It was bubbly for the entire time it sat on my table and you could tell it was perfectly kept at temperature and wasn’t flat whatsoever. Onto the food! We ordered Antipasto, and it was great! The little garlic knots that they give you are amazing, as well. I ordered Penne A La Vodka for my entrée and unfortunately I was disappointed. There wasn’t much taste, especially in the chicken. I had to drown it in salt and even that didn’t save this meal. My boyfriend had the seafood ravioli and the dish presentation was pretty sloppy. There was about 6 or 7 ravioli and was drenched in sauce. I would come back just to try the pizza, since I didn’t order any this time. The service was great and our waitress was very sweet. [My only other complaint is that the service station is close to the seating, so when a waitress was cleaning silverware and placing it into the divider, it was making a ton of noise and was a bit annoying while trying to enjoy our dinner.]

The actual building, décor, and ambiance are classy and the modern. The pizza joints in Bristol are all so generic that this one does stand out as being different. I only sampled the pizza on this trip, so I can only comment on that, in future visits I may try and expand on the menu more, but browsing over the menu it did look a bit keener than the usual«chicken/veal/eggplant parm-pasta/grinder» menu that you would normally find, which is another good bonus to the place. As for the pizza. Brick oven pizza, crust being a tad thicker than I would expect for brick oven, making it slightly limp and chewy, and a bit over-charred on the edges. The sauce was good, but nothing that would stand out in a crowd. The toppings were standard, sausage though was a bit on the bland side, but I’m biased to sweet Italian sausage. I did get it to go, and I normally rate my pizza on the«next day cold/reheated» test, and this one again, nothing to write home about. For the price, it’s a nice pie, I would and will visit again perhaps a few times. And if you’re looking for a pizza that’s not from the cookie cutter recipes that you’ll find around Bristol, this one does have the edge.
