Was in town on business, so I checked Unilocal for sushi. Osaka was nearby, so we visited. Not only did they have a very good wine, but the edamame and sushi rolls were delicious! I had the Snow White roll and my friend has the hibachi shrimp. Everything was prepared perfectly. I will be returning.

I like sushi. I’ve had it in Winston, Blacksburg, Wytheville — various places. I’ve even gotten it from delis before. This place was a huge disappointment. We began with calamari that tasted burnt and… just kinda funky. Then a dragon roll, spider roll, and dinosaur roll. The dinosaur wasn’t too bad. The others weren’t too good. Everything — every single thing — had a weird tinge to it. $ 40 for a disappointment was… well, disappointing. If you’re staying in this area, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. If you’re traveling, stay on I81 till Wytheville and go to Tokyo. You’ll be glad you did.

What a nice surprise! I have eaten sushi all over the world. I was very skeptical of Bristol Sushi but this place did not disappoint. They had all of the rare sushi! Ami Ebi, Toro and fresh oysters. If you are in Bristol and want good sushi come here!

We haven’t eaten sushi since we moved from Florida over a year ago but I had a hankering for it and hopped on Unilocal. There were more places than I realized for sushi but this place looked the best from prior reviews so we decided to head to them on date night. Even with the other reviews, I have to say that we were still pleasantly surprised. The quality of the fish was wonderful and the plating these guys do was so beautiful, you almost didn’t want to mess it up by eating it… but oh you really do! We ordered the sushi/sashimi platter, a Valentine roll and a Kani Salad. I highly recommend them all! Not only were the sushi, sashimi and the rolls outstanding(not to forget the Kani salad-I think it could become addictive), the service was also very good and the personalities of everyone working there was delightful. This appears to be THE place in Southwest Virginia to go for Japanese cuisine! It looks like we will be regulars — eat in AND take out.

Habachi style always fun, we had a chicken and a scallops, both were pretty good, although very salty. I think our cook sort of mailed it in but it was a weekday night and not a full table.

Pretty good Sushi for a small town like Bristol. Service was super quick we got our rolls ASAP which was nice but it was probably because there wasn’t much traffic. The waiter was super funny and made the experience enjoyable. All in all would def. go back for their vegetarian roll. Calamari was a very small portion and wasn’t anything to rant about

Best in Bristol and affordable. We ordered the Habachi Chicken, a sushi app and a Tempura Bento Box. It was all delicious. The tempura wasn’t for me but it was still well prepared. The Habachi Chicken was great and so was the cucumber and avocado roll. The service was excellent. We will be going back to try other items soon!

Amazingly good sushi. Especially this far inland. I’d been spoiled and had excellent sushi previously, including a stint living in Hawaii. I was SHOCKED how good this place was. Wonderful staff of family who consistently put out excellent food! I’m impressed when staff remember us down to the dishes we typically order and beverages we enjoy. I visited family at UVA in Charlottesville awhile back. I figured sushi in a bigger city, closer to major markets might outshine our local favorite just a bit. But no! Osaka, right here in Bristol was far better! Enjoy!

This place was pretty good. I got the New York Steak Hibachi and my husband got the sushi bento box. Both were decent. However, somehow my husband’s dish was forgotten and thus my dish was brought out before his was even begun. This was awkward because my dish was a hot dish and grew cold in the time we spent waiting for his to be prepared. Also, funny thing which I have never had happen before: a salad came with my hibachi that was positively DRENCHED in dressing. Honestly, it had about ¼ inch of dressing pooled at the bottom of the dish it came in. This was too much dressing, but it is what it is. However, what really made me laugh is that in addition to this excess, a FULLSOUPBOWL of dressing was brought on the side of my dish. I would estimate that I was given at least ¾ cup of extra dressing on the side. I hadn’t asked for extra dressing, and I was so bewildered and entertained as to what to do with my extra dressing. It was hilarious.

I give it a relative 4 stars — relative to the area. I was nervous about getting sushi anywhere in Virginia or Tennessee. But this was pretty good. I got the lunch special. 3 rolls for $ 10.95. Comes with salad. Lame salad — just iceberg lettuce and some veggie scraps. I got the sweet potato roll — pretty good, spicy tuna — didn’t love it(tasted funny), and the salmon avocado — also pretty good. All in all, if I’m in the area id go here again. Pretty good considering where you’re at in the world.

I don’t know what I expected by ordering sushi in Bristol, but in hindsight, I should have gone for more local cuisine. The food was alright; about what you would expect from the sushi bar at a grocery store or buffet restaurant. I had higher hopes given the reviews on Unilocal. But in the end, it is what it is — sushi 400 miles from the nearest ocean!

Was just passing through, but consulted Unilocal for the best rated restaurant, and this was it! Very good sushi rolls, very good prices. I would definitely come here again if I was in the area. I had the Rainbow and Shrimp Tempura rolls. Both were fresh and very satisfying. Traditional orange for dessert! The ambiance is just okay, but the food and service are great!

Very happy to have found this place on our road trip. It’s close to another Japanese restaurant called Kobe something but has a much better vibe and food than it.

Best sushi! Sit at the bar if you don’t want to wait for a table when it gets packed. The Manhattan Roll is a must try!

What a value! My friend and I were in town for a music festival when our sushi urge sidetracked us so we ended up at Osaka. I really didn’t know what to expect as sushi can be a finicky thing to try out in an unknown environment. We were both pleasantly surprised when we saw the long list of lunch special options that included 2 rolls of sushi plus soup and salad for $ 7.99 or for an additional $ 3, you could upgrade to a third roll. Guess which option these two hungry out-of-towners opted for? I chose the Sweet Potato Roll, Vegetable Roll, and Crunchy Cucumber Roll and were happy with all three selections. The Miso Soup was also very satisfying. The salad was doused with a bit too much of the ginger dressing but considering the price, not really a major gripe. Service was speedy and the décor of Asian kitsch was expected. All around a solid sushi choice if you are in the Bristol area… I am sure going to miss the lunch specials when I get back to Nashville.

We were looking for something a little lighter for dinner on Friday night instead of southern fried chicken and Unilocal led us to Osaka. Great, authentic japanese food with good sushi(most likely the best around) served by friendly staff. Would come back here again. Great bento boxes with a variety of dishes.

I was very pleasantly surprised to find a sushi place like this in Bristol, VA. It’s in a little shopping center and I was skeptical but my worries were soon whisked away when I talked with the host(possibly the owner?). He sat us and we started up with some Sapporo and gyoza. I had the tri-city dinner which was salmon, tuna, and yellowtail sushi and it was all fresh and delicious. The tuna rolls that came with it were really good too. My dining buddy got the Philly and California rolls and really liked these too. The staff were all super friendly and very attentive. Looked like they would be able to handle big parties and it wouldn’t be a bad place to sit at the sushi bar either. I will definitely be back!

Pretty much the only reliable place for sushi in a 100 mile radius… or something like that. The fish is always fresh; I’ve never had anything fishy here… in fact I’d like you to find better sashimi short of Morimoto’s in Philly or flying to Japan. You really can’t beat the price for what you get. Really cheap for great sushi and sashimi. Lunch specials are 2 rolls for 7.50 or 3 rolls for 10.95; that special comes with soup and salad. Sashimi Lunch is 13.95. Try: Softshell crab appetizer(yes one whole softshell crab!) for $ 5. All raw fish are fresh, just order what you like. I personally think the white tuna is really good.
