When it comes to something as stressful as mortgages, I definitely put a lot of stock in customer service. Each representative that I spoke with was very helpful, and most importantly PATIENT. I felt that they all really cared that I knew what was going on, and felt comfortable with each step of the process.
They also have a very helpful website, I spent quite a bit of time looking at their «Home Purchase Basics» tab. I like simple and clear facts. This company did that for me, made me feel like they were listening and understood my concerns, and guided me through my home purchase.
I would definitely recommend them to a friend!

If you are a first time buyer, or you don’t know too much about refinancing, I would say this is a good place to start, especially if you don’t have time to go into their office, which most of don’t, because you can complete their loan application online.
When their representative contacted me, she was pretty straightforward about the loan rates which I felt were very competitive with other mortgage companies. Fortunately, they have free consultations, and I must say that every person I spoke to was very friendly and accommodating because I had lots of questions.
Ultimately, my experience with First American Mortgage was very positive. We bought and refinanced our home through this company. Both our loan officer and processor were knowledgeable and very pleasant to work with.
Again, if you happen to be first time home buyer, or know very little about mortgages or refinancing, I would say this company is a good place to start because of their friendly customer service.

We closed our home loan with First American. There were no major issues with closing or timing… but we paid a premium to close here regret it.
There are lenders out there with better rates. Don’t let your agent steer you here. Find a business where they respect your money and will try to retain you as a customer.
