The Wine Shop

Love the wine shop! Not only can you get groceries but beer too! I’ve been coming here for about two years since I moved over to Allston. I shouldn’t say I’m a usual but they know myself and my girlfriends name. Friendly and helpful and surprisingly a GREAT selection of craft beer. Nothing crazy rare and out of the ordinary but defiantly some good finds if you catch them on the right day. Pricing is good and competitive and they are open o Sunday’s until 7pm. I always try them first! Keep it up!!!

Relatively good selection, considering it’s the size of my bedroom.
I always think i’m not going to find something good because it’s so small, but they really have a pretty good beer, wine, and liquor selection.
You could find slightly better prices on liqour elsewhere perhaps, but you’d have to go drive there, and you’re at starmarket anyways, so why the heck not go here.
They might not have those really rare oak ages limited editon beers I wanted, but they probably do have some really good ones.
The people who run the store are really nice, and always make sure to keep it open during blizzards and storms for the neighborhood. Having to put up with your family during a snowstorm, sober? that sucks! Walking in there and grabbing snow-​storm alcohol is brilliant.
On top of the beer, my favorite part is getting a bottle of liquor here, and then going and getting mixers at the GROCERY STORE because they’re so cheap there. If you bought mixers at Blanchards, they’d end up being more than the alcohol in each of your drinks! go check! I did. The StarMarket is nice and inexpensive for things like a lime, or club soda, or little drink umbrellas.
I hope it stays open forever. It’s a lower allston/​north brighton institution.

I love this liquor store!
First of all, it’s super convenient – located right inside the Star Market that’s on Western Ave. Who doesn’t want to be able to do their weekly grocery shopping AND beer run all in the same trip?
Secondly, they always have a nice selection of beer, wine, and hard liquors. I like that they carry some great local beers (Cisco! Pretty Things!!) plus the bigger «mass market» stuff. Prices are always better than the place I go in Harvard square, as well. They even have this cool «wine pairings» kiosk where you can look up the wines they carry and see what type of food is recommended to go with it! Pretty cool.
However, I think my favorite part of The Wine Shop is the staff. Everyone who works there is super nice and always ready to answer questions. They are always really honest as well, and don’t try and upsell you on fancy liquors that you don’t really need.
Definitely my favorite liquor store in the area!

I love everything about this location. I am here very often and the staff is incredible. They take the time to get to know the customers and will accommodate your needs where they are able.
Cannot beat the convenience of the location. It is within the Star Market Grocery store so it really is your one stop shop.
I would recommend this location to everyone! Never met a friendlier staff!

I love when liquor stores are inside of supermarkets. The convenience of The Wine Shop is amazing because of this!
It’s a fairly small «store» just beyond the registers, and the only entrance is from within the supermarket. The woman who works there is the friendliest liquor store owner (?) I’ve ever encountered. Besides being warm and welcoming, she’s so helpful! She could tell I was looking for inexpensive champagne one day, and suggested that if price is important (I was making mimosas — no need for anything fancy!), to go for a certain bottle of prosecco that tastes good and was $ 2 cheaper than the champagne I was holding. On more than one occasion, she’s dug around for the last six pack of a seasonal microbrew for me!
Overall, this is a great liquor store. It’s a bit tiny inside, so watch your elbows. Otherwise, it’ll continue to be my go-​to when I’m out shopping for groceries.

The owner of this place is Extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable. I absolutely love this place, the staff remembers me every time I go in and I don’t have to worry about bring my ID every time I run over quickly. They have a huge selection of everything from wine to beer to liquor. I can’t express enough that the owner of this business is amazing, she has gone out of her way to help with questions I may have had, and even cashed a check for me during the blizzard this winter when I was broke and the banks all closed due to the storm. I can honestly say they have a loyal customer for as long as I live in Brighton I refuse to shop any place else!

One stop shop here while you’re shopping at star market. The wine shop is just beyond the cash registers. I came ere looking o get some wine for a dinner party an they had exactly what I was looking for priced exactly the amount I had previously paid as some smaller shops sometimes charge a little more.
The shop is small but they do have a good variety. The clerk was nice and helpful while in line observing her interaction with other customers.
Come her if you’re around. Bring your ID because you will be carded!
