Best clam chowder in Boston! Everything on the menu is amazing. Love sitting outside on nice days!

I’ve been back for trivia on Wednesdays a few times and the trivia is great. They do Stump Trivia, like many bars in Boston, but it’s not as slow as most other places. It always ends on time, at 10pm. The service tends to be a little slow during trivia, though, so don’t expect to get your drinks quickly.

Is this the place to see and be seen? For a romantic night out? No, but it’s not trying to be. This is the perfect spot for a pint and their delicious shepherd’s pie. Also, their french fries are clearly cooked to order and are delicious every time. The Green Briar gets 5 stars because it is perfect within its genre. They have a big wooden bar, comfy booths, and top of the line pub fare.

I always read Unilocal reviews and this is my first ever post… on a Saturday night at 11:30 there were only two bartenders to tend two sides of the bar. We waited 20 minutes for a drink. When we finally got the drinks they did not taste good. We got a pumpkin beer on tap which was lined with a cinnamon sugar rim. The glass was clearly lined with a lime wedge, which made the entire beer taste extremely sour. The beer was also over-poured, so half of it was without a cinnamon sugar rim. Even without the rim the beer, and the other ipa, tasted bitter, leaving us to believe there was something wrong with the taps. Our friends ordered vodka sodas with cranberry and they were lucky if more than a quarter of a shot was poured in there. If you live in the Brighton area and are looking for a fun night out, spend the $ 5 über to go somewhere with good service.

My friend and I participated Paint Nite event at here. Before the event, we ordered a chicken salad and stephanie’s pie. I highly recommend these two dishes. The salad is not that cold like others. Actually, the salad is too large that we are almost full after the salad. The pie is smash potato with tomato soup, which is really good. Unfortunately, we waited too long for the pie and waitress even forgot our dish at first.

This place is about as Boston as Boston gets. My friends and I wanted to get dinner early the other night. We were seated right next to the loudest group of people at the bar, swearing, yelling, and showing too much PDA. Needless to say, that was annoying, especially since there was minimal people in the entire restaurant at that moment. Our server was pretty bad… She spilled our waters as she put them down, probably because the 4 out of 4 tables we tested were extremely wobbly. The should really look into fixing that. Our food and drink took forever to come out. By the time I did get my drinks, we were finished with them before the apps even came out and very hungry. Our entrees came out immediately after, which is just bad timing. The food came out at all different temperatures, which was unfortunate. Nothing like lukewarm sausage… amiright? Only quick part of the service was her getting the bill. Go figures. Definitely wouldn’t come back for any kind of food.

I came here on a Wednesday to meet my friend. It was quiet inside but then filled up on my side of the bar with gentleman after their golfing. I was greeted by a bartender named Jackie. She was a delight. Absolutely please by as please tell could be. She was more than willing to answer any questions. I had jacks abbey and ordered an app while o waited. I had ordered pretzel sticks to start. The sticks came out nice and hot had a beautiful dark almost brown color to them. They were served with a sweet honey mustard which made it taste like a candy and a cheese sauce which reminded me of my childhood. My friend and I later ordered a bowl of clam chowder which I highly suggest! It was so good! Full of clams and potatoes and it wasn’t to thick or thin. It was a secret piece of heaven. For our special treat we also ordered fried pickles. It is served with an orange sauce which has a lil spice to it but I had to get me some good old fashioned ranch with it. They fried pickles seemed like they were thick cut which was awesome. There was the perfect balance of pickle and outside crispness. I wish I wasn’t so full because I would have loved to finished them. Lol. I’m glad we came here as a spur of the moment. I would like to come back even if only for the service of our amazing bartender.

Walked in the owner asked me to put shoes on, I have walked around the world bearfoot hundreds of thousands of miles. I said no problem and went to take my shoes out. While doing this, I asked the owner if this is his policy or «health department regulations» he said both. Excellent, my reply was and asked if he minds reading a letter from the health department, at which point he decided he will not serve me and showed me the door. Please be nice to this man he is so sad and lonely.

We went to Green Briar for lunch last week and it was awful! The bar was almost empty but it still took a while for the bartender to serve us. And I never mind the time it takes if the bartender is nice enough but the woman who served us was extremely cold and had the worst attitude. It was almost like we were bothering her by ordering drinks and food. I do have to say, the BLT I got was pretty good but not enough to compensate for the terrible service we received. I would definitely NOT recommend this bar. There are so many options around Brighton. It’s worth the 2 minute drive to try a different place.

I was first introduced to the Green Briar by my «Big Sister.» It was not very close to where I was living but we made a night out of it and I had such a great time! When we first walked in, I noticed most of the employees had Irish accents which I thought was really cool especially at an Irish pub! There was a good diverse group of people from their mid-twenties to late 30s. The music was not playing at the time but we were watching a soccer match at the bar on the television. The bar tender was very attentive and was on top of our drinks whether it was refilling our waters or asking if we needed anything else. Flash forward to a year later, I am back here with another sorority sister having some drinks at the bar. Service is still outstanding and this time, we ordered food. We ordered nachos and definitely got our monies worth. The plate sizes are great and generous. I am still loving that the bar tenders are attentive to their customers. I never had to wait for a refill or to order anything. After being there for an hour or so, they started getting ready with the music system. The DJ set up near the bar but the nice thing was that he set his speakers to face the opposite direction so it would not affect the other customers who were eating at the bar or restaurant part. Music was good, drinks were good and so was the food! I cannot wait to go back again!

We came here to watch the MLS final soccer game. Other bars weren’t showing the game! Glad we found this place. We only got drinks, but we liked what we got!

Brittany our waitress was soooo nice! She was awesome answering all of our drink questions and was friendly the entire time. Our burgers were cooked just right(med-rare) which almost never happens. The ancho and Hawaiian burgers were great, the fries were good, and the Mac and cheese was also on point. Moscow mule and spiked hot chocolate were good. It was pretty empty for Saturday at 1 but we were so happy that we came in.

My boyfriend and I enjoy coming on Thursdays for bar trivia, which is a fun(and inexpensive) way to unwind after a long week. We usually only get drinks, but recently discovered that the wings here are fantastic! I’ll definitely have to stop by for a full meal soon.

I used to love this place for several reasons. 1.) it’s right up the street from me 2.) good food and good beer 3.) great TV set up for watching games. This all changed when I came last Sunday to watch a game with my boyfriend. We had a few beers, got some wings, chips and salsa and left right after the first football game. At about 9:00 that night my boyfriend realized he left his $ 140 raybans on the bar. We called, he spoke to a sweet server who told him that she had them and would put a note with them and lock them in the office. I came Monday night at 5 to get the sunglasses and the bartender told me no manager was in and to come back. I asked her if I should call ahead to make sure a manager was in so I didn’t keep coming back and missing him and she said no that it was an anomaly that a manager wasn’t in. So I came Tuesday night same time… again no manager. I was told to come back in a half hour. When I came back again… twice in the same night now… A manager was finally in and mysteriously although him and two bartenders spent 10 minutes looking, the glasses could not be found. This means to me that either the waitress was mistaken about having them(which raybans are a pretty popular brand and well known) or someone in the establishment stole the sunglasses which really infuriates me as a patron. The manager took my information and told me he would«call around and find out if any of his servers knew anything although it could take a while…» There was only two servers on. How long does it take to get in contact with two servers? Evidently a week or longer because I still have heard anything from them. Least to say… we will not be back. Also the wings tasted like someone dumped a salt shaker on them. The chips and salsa were great especially for the price so I will give you guys credit for that. Other than that really poor customer service and I would expect more. And don’t plan on returning. Unless I get a call about the glasses because I will definitely come back for those and in which case I would update with a glowing review.

Went to the Green Briar this past Sunday to watch some football. This is your standard run of the mill pub. Nothing special… but nothing negative. This is a suitable place to watch football as there is an abundance of televisions for viewing. The bar environment was low key, but temperature was a chilly and the bar was dark and bland. The bartender was friendly and attentive. I ordered the nachos with steak which were very good and had the right amount of toppings so that the nachos were flavor-able, but not soggy Like I stated above, this bar wasn’t anything special… but it wasn’t bad. I gave it 3 stars for now because it is «Par» and acceptable. Perhaps I will stop in again someday to see what else the bar has to offer.

Okay ladies. If you ever come here without a man, expect to be ignored. This place is right near my home and winds up as a meeting place for my friends and out-of-town relations quite regularly. When there are men present, service is okay to amazing. When it’s all women, expect to be ignored. This is The House That Tits Built. Seriously. Whoever said female wait staff and bartenders make more than men should really look at this place and see what happens when such a food-and-drink place ONLY hires women. You know what happens? As a woman, you get ignored. As a man, your food and service are still shit, but you get a cute accent and PLENTY of tits. It’s like Irish Hooters in here some nights! As a woman though, your food sucks. And if you have a complaint, NOBODY comes around anyway, so even though the owners there ALLTHETIME, nobody ever knows. This place is awful. Okay, it sucks. It is a shit-hole. It caters to Irish people, and yes they have the accent and stories to back it up, but nobody will talk to you if you don’t have a penis or act like a jerk to FORCE the waitstaff to pay attention to you. But Green Briar made me say it! I have just too many experiences there NOT to say it! I have tried for over two years! This is the CONSISTENT message I get from this establishment — women get no service, but if you bring a man, things can be okay. This place also overcharges for everything. $ 11 for two drinks? Grilled cheese for $ 12? No thank you. Not only is it not good enough for the price, there isn’t even anybody to tell that it sucks, unless you have a cock or want to suck one.

I has seen the menu for this place a while ago and it seemed very promising. The pictures protrayed nice looking dishes. The night we went was sat and we were 3 ppl and it was not crowed at all and got seated. We started off with the Ireland sampler and fried mushrooms. Ireland sampler had onions rings which they ran out and so gave us fries. Never told until we asked. Also the sampler menu said irish bangers but when we got it was fried irish bangers. my knowledge they are not fried they are nicely grilled charred black. again bland. Disappointed again. Sampler also came with fried mushrooms which we had order a seperate plate too since we all 3 lovved mushrooms. holy cow the size of mushroom were of small red potatoes or maybe bigger totally douzed in oil and bland as it can be. The garlic cream dip it came with was no help. Even salt on it did not help. The service was very slow too. Decided not spend anymore money on entrees. Left and got a take out from our fav middle eastern place and gonna start eating as soon as i finish this review and get rid of everything in my. stomach in the … ;-) Dont go…

Really good beer battered mushrooms, spicy BBQ burger with pineapple, hot ham and cheese, and clam chowder… The Irish coffee and mimosas were decent… The hot whiskey wasn’t great. Onion rings were ok but not amazing. Food was fresh… And overall we liked it. Great menu. Atmosphere is fine enough… Purely an Irish pub… So I liked. Service could’ve been better… But she was sweet.

I was in Brighton for work and happened across the Green Briar for lunch. We were literally the only customers there, so the food understandably came out a bit slowly but man, was it good. How come nobody has mentioned their clam chowder? It is PHENOMENAL. There are no potatoes. Just clams. A boatload of clams. For only 7 bucks you get a super tasty bowl of New England’s finest. I also ordered a «side» of sweet potato fries for 6 bucks(to round out my healthy meal), and was not expecting the enormous basket of fries that came out. It was piping hot, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and not overly sweet. It was the perfect accompaniment to my chowder.
