This is one of those better than average but not awesome restaurants that truly deserves three and a half stars alas Unilocal will not allow me to give them a rating in the middle. A majority of the party eating felt four stars were in order alas they should do their own Unilocal reviews. The food was good, the service was good, and the dessert was awesome. Prices I felt were a bit on the high side for portions received. Others at the table ordered gnocchi and I tasted them guessing perhaps that they may have been of the frozen variety as some of them were hot and some cold upon serving. May have to give this place another try another time.

Omg soooo delicious!!! I had the veggie lasagna and it was outstanding. Do not even get my started on the homemade tiramisu. It was to die for! My husband didn’t care for his chicken Parmesan but my meal was perfect.

We ate here when visiting with family and they were raving about this place! They said that everything they’ve gotten was great. We got the gnocci, chicken piccata salad, spinach ravioli, and canneloni, all pretty good italian food. The place is cute and feels homey. Super good service! The only reason it is 4 stars was the price is slightly more than we would’ve liked. Definitely recommend!

This family owned business made my everyday evening, something magical. A smile and friendly hello as I walked in was the greeting of good things to come. I enjoyed amazing atmosphere and even more amazing dishes and a glass of wine. looking forward to returning!

You are always welcome here! We love to sit outside, when the weather permits. Old world Italian fare. Homemade with love! Jil and I are hooked on the Marguerita Pizza and chopped Cobb Salad. Peronni Beer on tap. Please save room for the excellent homemade desserts! Please note they are closed on Monday. Large municipal parking lot adjacent(rear) of the building. Street parking, but you may have to walk a bit.

I haven’t been here in 5 years! My wife and I went there and she started eating her salad and found that the lettuce was rotted. We had to leave of course. I was browsing Italian restaurants in the neighborhood and came across the reviews and thought I should give it a try. I looked at the menu and started to laugh. The prices for the pasta and the gnocchi were OUTRAGEOUS!!! No I will not be there anytime soon. I guess you think because you are in Brighton you can charge extra for mediocre food located in the shadow of a train speeding by. hahahahahaha nice try but not for this Italian…

Good Italian food, great location… Awesome service. Prices are a little steep but what you expect really from a restaurant in this location. Their lemon cake is to die for. Absolutely the only really memorable thing about our visit there and likely the only reason to motivate us to return… But it will.

Gluten free choices. So my daughter could eat. But then The noise level was such that we couldn’t have conversation at our table The food had no taste though my daughter said hers was alright The waitress forgot to bring us bread said she was distracted then she came back and asked us if we still would like it. Didn’t bring my daughter soup or salad never asked her which she would prefer. Menu stated she should have received one Not an overall wonderful experience

They apparently got really ‘busy’ when we got here. It took a server at least 15mins before they decided to help us out. We were hungry so it seemed like eternity. It’s a small place so, having 4 – 5 full tables is pretty busy apparently. 2 servers. another one ended up helping us out. Anyhow, I was craving cannelloni. it was pretty good, cheese was a little rubbery inside(the middle was a little bit creamier) but I liked the flavor. Their bread appetizer is really good. I like the atmosphere. quite cozy. We got sat in a corner. which I like. but, it’s odd that they had one chair practically in the doorway of the patio.

I give a star because we did get food. My husband, son and daughter stopped in to pick up a take-out order. Although long time Brighton residents, we had yet to try this restaurant. My son finished a long hockey practice and was craving Italian so we were glad to have a local family restaurant. My husband is friendly, a business owner, and just very interested in all people and their stories and hard work. He asked a man there if he was the owner, hoping to start a nice conversation, a nice relationship as friends or diners. «I pay the bills.» Was his response, but not with a smile or anything lighthearted. He was irritated. He proceeded to bring up the order with no further conversation, acted like it was a hassle to get plastic serveware or napkins, and initiated no further conversation. Just told my husband the ridiculou$ total for a single serving of extremely bland spaghetti with meat sauce(I have seen the owner buying the same ingredients from Gordon foods that I buy, my sauce is much better.) Will not go again, hope this guy figures it out. note: my starving hockey player son would not eat the spaghetti, said it tasted like nothing.

My entire family love Buon Gusto. It’s our go to restaurant when we can’t decide what we want to eat. It’s a nice little mom and pop place, very cozy seatings inside(don’t expect too much elbow room). You can smell the delicious marinara when you first walk through the door. My husband’s favorite is their lasagna, and my favorite is Sicilian salmon and anything with their marinara sauce. Entrée comes with either soup or salad. Their minestrone is a simple broth with veggies and beans, very light. All dishes are made in house, and they are very accommodating if you have restricted diet.

If your family isn’t Italian and you’ve never been to Italy, you might think this is real Italian food, but you are sadly mistaken. You might even think the food is good, but anyone who knows the slightest bit about Italian food will know the food here does not even come close to being authentic. Yes, this place is cozy and friendly. And yes, the service is fine, but the food is frankly the worst Italian food I’ve ever had. I ordered risotto with shrimp, which is always made with arborio rice. Here, it was made with short grain rice, so the dish wasn’t rich and creamy, but a soupy mess. The eggplant parmegiana was bland and tasteless and so was the bread. Needless to say, I couldn’t eat the food and sent it back. The one redeeming feature was that I wasn’t charged for the meal.

Ate lunch for the first time at Buon Gusto on a Friday. My wife and I split the eggplant sandwich and a salad. The bread brought prior to lunch was too dense, and not much taste even though sprinkled with cheese. The chicken/nut/cherry salad was good, but the chicken was not very moist. The sandwich was just OK. The décor inside was cozy, and service was good(even though the waitress was brand new and was not able to answer many questions). I am sure we will give this another try for dinner some time, but not very impressed this first time.

A very quaint place with real Italian food. I was lucky enough to come on a night where they were serving braciole. The dish was absolutely delicious. Our party of six was treated like family. They all enjoyed their dinners. My daughter had an Italian soda. delicious. Talked with the owner about my dish… she told me how she makes it. Can’t wait to go back. Make reservations, small amount of tables.

This restaurant is wonderful!!! The drunken shrimp was unbelievable. Also the lobster raviolli and chicken parmigiana. The service was so so wonderful. The owners were so attentive and we had a large group and no one was unhappy! Wonderful wonderful place!

This is the cutest little authentic Italian Restaurant I have ever been too! We had a group of 20 and the staff was super accommodating! The food was awesome and came quick. The food presentation was excellent and so so so good! Last but not least, the prices are excellent! We will definitely be back!

1st time visiting. Salad was a bit wilted — picked out the floppy stuff. Pizza was very good. Lasagna was OK. Service was pretty good, too. I’m not crazy about the cramped dining room, but some people like it(my wife and daughters did not). 1st issue was a long wait to pay the check. The server finally came back saying that they are having issues with the credit card machine and it’ll be fixed soon. Another long wait and finally she said that they couldn’t fix it and could only take cash. I didn’t have cash, but I was willing to walk to the ATM a couple blocks away. Unfortunately the owner never acknowledged the problem or apologized or offered a discount or desert or whatever. Just ignored us. My issues -#1 wilted salad, #2 walk to ATM without acknowledgement, #3 my wife and I both got sick later that night(we shared lasagna) girls were fine with pizza.

I was glad to find this place(we were there during Taste of Brighton) since several of the other restaurants seemed overpriced by comparison. I was charmed by the interior and mom and pop feel. The son of the owners greeted us in the booth on the street(nice guy). The kids meals were inexpensive and huge. The taste of the salmon with tomatoes(forget the name) was good. The caesar salad was blah. What turned me off completely were the 10-plus bones in my salmon. It took some doing to keep going after the 2nd or 3rd(I didn’t want the hassle of complaining and my fiancé had eaten a good part of it,) I didn’t complain but I did want to draw the owner’s attention to it. He was pretty unfriendly and said, «Oh, he forgot some bones, it happens.» The bones were on my bread plate. He got me a new bread plate. I’m sure others have had good meals there – I just won’t go back.

You know when you’ve had something delicious? When you are still wanting more days later… My husband and I checked out Buon Gusto during a recent date night. The small, intimate patio and reasonable prices drew us in more than the other spots in Brighton. While we only sampled two things on the menu, they were excellent. We tried two of their pizzas — the Margherita and one with olives and artichokes. Both were true Italian-style thin crust pizzas. They were AMAZING. I like to consider myself a Margherita pizza snob since I order them almost anytime they are on a menu. Well, this one may be the best I’ve ever tasted! I put the entire 12″ one down with no problems. The ingredients were fresh. Not your typical cheap pizza joint mozzarella — this stuff was the real deal. And the basil clearly was grown in a garden. So. Freakin. Good. But that isn’t even the best part. We got a LITER of Pinot Grigio for $ 16.50! That was about 3.5 glasses of wine for both the hubby and I. We almost always get a bottle of wine when we go on dates and this was by far the cheapest we’ve ever seen on a menu. Please note we are on a budget and not wine snobs so I’m sure it was a cheap bottle. But still! $ 16.50! Deal of the century considering the glasses were $ 5/$ 6/$ 7 otherwise. I only marked them down a star because there was some confusion among what appeared to be the owner and the hostess when we walked in. He was incredibly rude to her, which was very uncomfortable for us.(Restaurant people: Do not yell at your staff in front of customers!) But other than that snafu, it was a great experience and we will definitely be back for more.
