I love supporting mom and pop places. But after years of giving them more than a fair shot, I’ve given up. We used to get our easter candy there every year. But the chocolate just isn’t that good, and the filling they use in their peanut butter eggs is actually awful. It’s a shame. They’re really nice people too. Whenever they set up a kiosk at a local fair, I buy safe items they haven’t actually prepared like swedish fish or something. But invariably it’s overpriced. I feel bad for them, because it’s a family business… the whole American dream thing, but they’re just not doing it well.

The last of the real old-fashioned candy stores in Cumberland County. They’ve been in business for generations and have been a fixture on Laurel Street for over 100 years. The inside of the shop has wonderful old creaky wooden floors, long glass cases holding trays of meticulously placed candies, and a huge old-fashioned cash register. It’s a place out of time. Staff is always pleasant, courteous and eager to serve. It can get a bit crowded during the big«candy holidays» of Christmas and Easter. They roast their own peanuts and process their own cocoanut. You can buy either by the pound or in their famous candies. No Christmas or Easter is complete in our family without some candy from Weber’s. Our family favorites are the light & dark peanut cream clusters at Christmas and the old-fashioned cocoanut Easter eggs at Easter(with our names written in fondant!). Of course, you don’t need a special holiday to go to Weber’s. This is a real candy store! One of Bridgeton’s gems.
