This place isn’t fancy, but the food is amazing. They bring you chips with red sauce and green sauce when you arrive. The prices are low, the portions are good, and the food is delicious. I usually get the ground beef and potato quesadillas. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, give this place a try!!!

The reviews are very misleading. Mexican food is supposed to be flavorful. This places serves bland chicken with absolutely no seasoning. I got the chicken and ground beef tacos. Very unsatisfied tasteless and dull. Would not recommend or visit again

Not the cleanest place to eat but it’s not Waffle House dirty either. Definitely has an authentic Mexican feel and the tacos are good. The little old lady behind the counter always has a smile and hearing her yell at her staff in Spanish is always entertaining to me. For less than $ 10 you can get plenty of edible food and I’ll take that any day.

One corner of this restaurant/taco shop is boarded up, but don’t let that deter you. The food is really good and comes out quickly. I had a burrito, and my two friends had a quesadilla and chicken tacos on flour tortillas. Despite previous reviews, the lady who took our order spoke great English and they offered menus in English as well as some in Spanish. For vegetarians/Pescatarians there are only a couple of options: shrimp platter on rice with beans, vegetarian burrito, and vegetarian tacos. A great little authentic spot right off Landis.

Main Entry: chorizo Pronunciation: \ch-re-()zō, -()sō\ Function: noun Inflected Form(s): plural chorizos Etymology: Spanish Date: 1802 : a pork sausage highly seasoned especially with chili powder and garlic I was really looking forward to enjoying eating here. They serve some really good tamales, which they didn’t have today… Cool, I’ll order something else. So I order two pork tacos, a beef taco, and a chorizo taco. My wife only wanted a pork taco, but I ordered one with chorizo since I know that’s one of her favorites. She opens the chorizo, takes a pinch, closes it and eats the pork taco. I finish my pork and beef tacos and she says she’s full, which means the chorizo is all mine!!! I take one bite. Not the best chorizo taco that I’ve ever had before. So I take another bite and I chew… slowly. And chew. and chew. and chew… Turns out that this not so great chorizo was nothing more than ground beef with chili powder. This was theft by deception… It was only a $ 2 taco, but that’s not the point. You don’t serve people something that isn’t even in the pork family and try to pass it off as chorizo… I try to support any business who have provided products that I liked. But this here is unacceptable. Damn spicy ground beef…

Portions were decent, food was decent. I had a grilled chicken huaraches, rice and beans, and a pork tamale. After eating the complimentary chips and the huaraches, I was so full I ended up taking the tamale and most of the rice and beans home. I enjoyed the huaraches, but had to add some of the red sauce to give it more flavor. My kids ordered the grilled chicken nachos and the ground beef quesadilla – they both liked their food. I tried the quesadilla and thought the ground beef was quite tasty. I didn’t try the nachos because they were smothered in cheez wiz.

Staff were very friendly, the prices are decent, the inside of the restaurant was very old and run down looking. The food it’s self was very bland, really no flavor to the meats I had to add my own spices to make the dish taste half way decent. The veggies were however fresh and the portions are generous. All in all I don’t think I’ll ever return unless I’m constipated and need something to help me defecate.

Not impressed at all. Chips and sauce were ok, Ordered chicken enchiladas and the chicken was over cooked, dried out and lacked flavor. Will not be going back, rather take the hike to cinco de mayo for the great steak tacos

Very underwhelmed with the food: o( The staff was great! Very friendly, and attentive. It seems to be a family-run business. I even saw what looked to be a grandma in the back cooking! We do speak Spanish, but I thought it was sweet that they have English menus and Spanish menus to make everyone feel comfortable. For a full lunch, you’ll spend no more than $ 7 – 9. There is no ambiance. Just a simple place to sit and have lunch for 20 minutes. There was no air when we went, but all the fans made the temperature tolerable. We consider ourselves to be very knowledgeable about traditional Mexican foods. We have countless Mexican friends here in NJ from all different parts of Mexico. and we’ve eaten many a family dinner at the tables of Mexican families. I have to say what stood out the most with my tostadas was the lack of flavor and the dryness. I got 1 chicken, 1 pork, and 1 chorizo. The chicken was the most disappointing – virtually no flavor at all. It tasted like boiled chicken almost. The pork was a little better – extremely tender and cooked well, but again-no flavor. The chorizo was the best because the sausage itself is very flavorful. I just found the tortillas bland, most of the meat bland, and the cheese didn’t look like the type of cheese most Mexican’s used. It looked and tasted like Americanized mozzarella. I would recommend that they cook the meat in flavorful Mexican sauce and serve the meat more wet to help improve the flavor. So the thing about Tacos Bravos is – if you’re American and never had a true Mexican meal, you’ll probably think their food is good. If you know how Mexican food is supposed to taste, you’ll be very underwhelmed with the food. That’s about it! I won’t go back, but you may want to try it out for yourself.

Pretty good tacos. Especially the chorizo tacos. Great for lunch. The red and green sauces that a lot of tradition Mexican restaurants have(I never remember what they are called) are good and spicy. It is not typically too crowded so you can usually get in and out quickly when on a lunch break. Get a Mexican soda, I prefer mango.

This place has the best Mexican food in Bridgeton. I highly recommend the sopes or quesadillas(which are actually crunchy American-style tacos not traditional quesadillas). The salsa is homemade every day. The owners are lovely people and very attentive.

If your idea of Mexican food is Taco Bell, then you’ve never really had Mexican food. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, you have to try this place. It’s operated by Mexicans and you can tell that they cater to the Mexican population of Bridgeton – there’s not a lot of English to be seen, except on the special menu they’ve created the convenience of those of us who failed Spanish 101 in high school. The daily specials on the chalkboard are all in Spanish, so brush up or bring a translator if you want something different. The décor is utilitarian and shows its roots as a former custard stand, but it is clean and well-maintained. Our meals were very fresh and full of flavor. Tortillas were perfect and either made in-house or were from one of the Tortillerias serving area ethnic eateries and bodegas. Be careful about ordering anything with spiciness or heat if you’re an amateur. Mexicans are professional fire eaters. I think their babies can handle chilies that would kill your typical American. I don’t know i it’s available all the time, or just weekends or special occasions, but dishes featuring goat meat, in addition to chicken, beef and pork, are available as well. Goat is pretty good, but it has a stronger flavor than beef or pork. Some people may not like it, so order as adventurously as you like it. If you’re lucky, you can get some Coke or Pepsi from Mexico made with real sugar, not corn syrup. That’s a treat unto itself.

I’d driven past Tacos Bravos a bunch of times and always wanted to stop because it looked like the real deal. I was right. This cute little place is run by Mexicans and frequented by Mexicans. If I’m not mistaken, their food is Oaxacan style. The staff speaks some English and they do have a printed menu available. Most of the items on the menu are extremely inexpensive. Portions aren’t huge, but given the price, it gives you the opportunity to get a wide sampling of items for not much money. I was broke when I went, so all I could afford was a pretty decent chorizo taco with homemade salsa for a dollar and change. I’d like to go back again soon and check out more of their offerings.
