I try to like it and the service is great. The food isn’t even diner quality. I had a hamburger and swallowed ¼ before giving up. I was asked how I wanted it cooked. Rare meant still cool. No way was it able to be cooked rare, medium or well-done. I just want make it clear that service was great. The chicken fried steak my man had was straight out of frozen package, TV dinner style. He eats anything, but only got ½ down. We both wondered if it even had meat. It didn’t look like it. Mashed potatoes were good, the corn seemed to be recycled, with zero flavor.

I was surprised this diner was so quiet when I met up with a colleague there. It seems to get a lot of truck and road crew traffic. I was there for both breakfast and then came back later for lunch. Service is very good. The cost is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The food itself is OK, nothing outstanding. They do have good chicken soup. Packed with veggies and chunks of chicken. Very tasty. I ordered a turkey sandwich and it was just OK. They gave a side of bread that was obviously frozen and microwaved prior to serving. It was actually inedible since it seemed to be vulcanized. For the price, it’s a great deal. It’s difficult to pay by credit card since they seem to only be set up for debit cards. They were finally able to process my card after several minutes. The owner was very nice and was coming by frequently to see that everything was good.

People that complain about the Pigeon forget it is a diner with a huge menu. No way this is the highest grade or freshest of food. That aside this is good diner food. If you want great seafood go to the shore, want great steak go to Franklinville Inn. If you want a menu with seafood, steak, hoagies, burgers, breakfast, etc. this is your place.

This place is really hit and miss. One meal can be awesome, while another can be boring and disappointing. Its a new jersey diner, so if you do not go into it with high expectations you will be fine.

We’d thought about going here multiple times, but when we finally made it, I was not impressed. The wall next to our table was dirty. The food was just kind of blah. And it was a lot pricier than I was expecting. We probably won’t be back.

I remember this place from my childhood. This time was not a great experience. The food was terrible yet the waiter was ok and was working through a cold or bronchitis or something where she had to get someone else to help her explain what the menu was and to answer our questions. I applaud her for sticking it out yet it was hard to understand. The food wasn’t great either and surprisingly dry where I couldn’t eat the entire meal as I had to cut out up to avoid eating some of it and then couldn’t bare struggling eating the dry French toast!

I am from Bridgeton so this is like a homecoming of sorts. Boy was I disappointed. I got the 9.99 special. It was Fried Flounder. I got soup, 2 veggies, coffee and dessert. They also give you bread. Well. The first soup I got wasnt hot. The fish platter I got was 2 frozen fillets which you could tell was pre ordered and then fried as soon as it was taken out of the freezer. My baked potato was overcooked. The only good thing was my broccoli and cornbread lol. My server was good though. She was sweet. I dont know but they need to do some reevaluation of their menu offerings and recipea.

I had been here a total of four times. The service has always been very good and the food, more or less. But on my last visit, I ordered a California Cheeseburger with fries and a cup of chicken and rice soup. The burger came with a hair on the cheese. I clearly did t order that. The server was great, but that hair destroyed my hunger and enjoyment of that burger. Then to top it off, when my wife and I were at the register to pay for my wife’s order, country fried steak(which she found to be bland and didn’t finish it), the cashiers asked how was the food, then quickly, with out an interest in our response continued her chit-chat with the person behind her. That was very rude lacked an obvious work ethic. Needless to say, we will be staying away from there.

Just your average diner that serves frozen food. It is what it is. Breakfast is probably their best meal. The menu has way too many choices.

I enjoy the variety of food that you can get 24 hours a day. They have quality food and great $ 9.99 dinner specials that includes desert.

I’ve loved this place since before smartphones, apps, and app reviews existed! Now I’ve read reviews about how«bad» this diner is… as if they were written with the expectation of the quality of a five star restaurant. It’s STILL a diner! This place has to serve what the best cheeseburger in the world. The owners are always VERY friendly and treat you like family when you visit. Occasionally they throw in a free slice of cake or desert with your order as a thank you for your loyalty. The breakfast is great and I’d recommend the meat lover’s omelette, unless you’re a tree hugging hippie vegan– then I recommend you eat broken glass.

The food here taste really good and the price is decent. I always order the Mexican omelet with rye toast. The eggs seem to be much better in the morning. They are still good at night but in the morning they are amazing. at night time the salsa always seems warm and in the morning its cold

Only worth going to after 2am when the bars and clubs let out. At that point your already drunk so everything will taste decent. The people that frequent this establishment are obese rednecks who wouldn’t know what seasoning is if it hit them in the face. All the food served is bland. No thanks.

Ill start with the good. The bathrooms were well kept. Then you exit the bathroom, and see they have dessert advertised right next to the room where people excrete bodily waste. That’s a pretty image isn’t it? If you plan on eating here bring a book mark because the menu is 300+ items and you might lose your spot. This place is all about quantity and not quality. I ordered french onion soup, which when I got it had very little cheese on top, and wasn’t even put into an oven. The onions in the french onion soup were raw as well. Yes, raw onions in the french onion soup. I ordered the shrimp basket which comes with fries and onion rings. Mine only came with 2 small rings, which must had been sitting out all day because they tasted like utter crap and were as hard as a rock. The fried shrimp was fine, but frying things doesn’t require an education, so its hard to mess that up. The server dropped our food off, but never bothered to check up on us. This place is a joke and an embarrassment to the community. You can tell they don’t care at all from the quality of the food and have no respect for the people they serve it to. Stay away.

Grew up eating here. The food back in the day was good but not so good now. The best thing this place has going for itself is the breakfast. Other than that… don’t bother spending your money.

I usually come for breakfast on Sundays after church when I’m visiting the area. Sitting at the counter, mixing it up with the waitresses, observing the Sunday Morning news shows, eating my usual veggie omelet with toast and home fries. Your typical South Jersey. No, they aren’t that flexible. No, they don’t serve grits. No, this isn’t DC. It’s South Jersey. Big difference. And you know what? That’s okay. Nostalgia. A balance. A taste of home, which is one more reason why I keep coming back.

Open 24⁄7. The food is pretty good, I enjoy going with friends and having a good time. Service is usually pretty good and the prices aren’t too bad either. 5 stars for good times.

If you can withstand the stench of human waste as you enter(seriously) then you should be fine. The menu is literally a bound book. The wait staff are excellent-they don’t hover but are always at hand. Everything is made to order. The desserts are great. By my last visit the management changed AGAIN and the portions were getting smaller and smaller.

It’s hard not to like the Golden Pigeon. For diner food, it’s top notch. The mozzarella sticks are HUGE, the fries greasy and delicious, the burgers terrific, the breakfast terrific, and the desserts are to die for. And they’re open 24 hours!!! What more could you want?

The«dirty bird» as the Golden Pigeon is affectionately known as around here, was a favorite of my late father in law. I wouldn’t have gone there were it not for him because the name just freaked me out. I think that’s the case for a lot of people and the diner has not earned it’s nickname. The place really isn’t dirty at all, and the food is decent. The owners are Turkish, so the menu is diner food with a mediterranean bent, which are the best kind in South Jersey. It’s not just meatloaf and mashed at the Pigeon. Of course they have great diner coffee and really GOOD pastries and desserts. So yeah, I like the dirty bird.
