The Wing Shop

I ordered on Grubhub for delivery. When I received my wings I was surprised to see no color. I ordered buffalo and Jerk chicken wings. The Jerk Chicken wasn’t hot and the buffalo sauce was nonexistent. The chicken was also overcooked. The only saving grace were the mozz sticks. Terrible, would not order ever again. By the way, the young lady working Tuesday night at about 7:50pm should not be answering phones or as she put it, cooking the food.

When I first heard that The Wing Shop was opening, I was pretty excited for a new late night spot in my neighborhood. I’ve now been here 4 times and was pretty satisfied each time. The amount of sauces they have for wings is great, and the onion rings are delicious. The wings could be a little crispier, but still pretty good. They have a few kinks to work out, but I feel like they will work them out over time.

So… Been here twice. Best thing about the place is the hours and if u like convenience of delivery this maybe a place for you but I have never been a fan delivery… I gave 3 stars because I want to like this place but a few changes would go a long way., there is limited beverage options, the tables and chairs are a bit awkward, when dining in, U are still served in to go packs which is a sure fire way to create soggy wings plus it is awkward to eat to the small table with these to go containers and their floppy lids, and while understandable, the smell of the fryers is pungent with a slightly rancid oil odor. There is no tv or even radio playing so a 10 min wait for wings feels like 30 when u are staring at a wall. Ps the staff is very sweet but the manager is well… «bossy» to the staff…
Onto the wings… Had a few more flavors tonight on my second visit and overall they are ok at best. The variety of sauce is good but the flavor is almost sub par. (can’t go wrong with the simple franks red hot) which I don’t think they use. (People are bitching about the wing size… The wing size is fine fat asses!) The wings were also almost crispy at best (which is a wing aficionado must). This place doesn’t seem to set out to have the best wings or make any sort of culinary statement so I am not judging them that way … that being said they will never be in the category of a wing place that makes or even semi makes their own sauces including bleu and ranch dressing. There are no chefs or cooks here but rather fast food employees (this place is perfectly designed for mediocrity and an owner that has no desire to be there) so it makes sense that the food is the way it is.
Ok so, since I have obviously nothing better to do and I write Unilocal reviews as a coping method and for self entertainment… and by this point the only person reading this deep into a Unilocal review on a wing place is the owner… (Hi owner) im going to now be the annoying asshole (my worst enemy) who makes recommendations as if I had stake in the business or even worse, know what I am talking about…
1. Improve sauce flavor
2. Ditch the takeout styrofoam for customers dining in
3. Make a few 4 top or even a 6 top tables
4. Expand, even if slightly, the drink selection
5. Add TV or at least radio music
6. DO NOT raise the prices without product improvement. (I just don’t think I would pay)
7. The sign is easily missed at night (better light)
8. Wet naps (people love that shit)
9. Train staff to serve wings crispy at all times (I know some sauces saturate the skin)
10. Make sure employees ALWAYS have hood system on, even between orders when it’s slow.

chicken wings are currently my obsession and having a new wing spot near my parents house when im in town is super exciting. the chipotle bbq boneless were pretty yummy!

Service was SERIOUSLY LACKING! Placed a simple order and even left a tip they still screwed up the order. And these people want 15 bucks an hour?!? HA! Stay away

Big mistake getting food from here. We ordered 24 wings with 4 sauces, mozzarella sticks, and fries. The wings were soggy, the fries were soggy, and the mozz sticks were hard as a rock. All the food was cold. The best part about my order was the dipping sauce for the mozzarella sticks — it was Campbell’s tomato soup. And they didn’t give us carrots or celery with our wings.
On a positive note, they gave us 4 containers of blue cheese to dip our wings in.

Stopped in to get some wings on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered 12 wings in two flavors. Service was quick. When I get them home, I thought the wings could have been cooked more, but that was o.k. since I needed to heat them up a little anyway. In short, the prices are very reasonable here, and the variety pretty good, too. I found the wings to be well-​seasoned and delicious. Could they have used a little more sauce? Yes on one flavor, but not on the other. I think this place ought to do very well.

I ordered 12 boneless wings to-​go for lunch. The flavors were great, but the wings were smaller than I would have liked — more like boneless bites than boneless wings.
They were out of blue cheese… how does that happen? A wings place should have vats of blue cheese. I settled for ranch, and the guy at the counter made sure I was given extra.
Other comments have noted the wings aren’t dipped in the sauce which is true. I saw them drizzle the wings with the sauce while packaging. Although my wings had a good amount of sauce on them, it would definitely be better if they could actually dip the wings in the sauce.

I tried the wing shop for the 1^st time tonight. I was disappointed. I got 4 different flavors and The wings aren’t seasoned well and the flavoring is bland. Also you can tell that the owner is a penny pincher because you have to pay .50 cents for celery and I only received 3 celery sticks! And you can tell the blue cheese is from a cheap bottle. I’m a huge wing fan, and I probably won’t be going back here.
Want some advice? Fry the wings longer for a crunchier taste and season before just throwing sum sauce on them.

It was clean, great service, and the wings were good! For only being open a week, I think they did a great job! I will be back!

I was disappointed by my first experience with The Wing Shop. The service was great but the wings weren’t. My biggest complaint would have to be lack of sauce. They do not coat your wings with a generous amount of sauce, instead the sauce is drizzled unto the freshly cooked wings. This place has potential. If the saucing technique is updated, lets say tossing them in the sauce I can see great success for the Wing Shop as it is the only business of its kind within the area.
TL;DR: If wings were slathered in sauce they would be a lot better. Needs better saucing/​spinning techniques.

I drive by this spot daily, and was excited they were putting in a wing place, as we don’t really have one around! It’s clearly more of a take out place, inside is clean and new with a couple tables and chairs.
Wings has barely any sauce on them. As they have an open kitchen I watched them prepare the wings and they don’t toss them in the sauce they throw them in a do go box pour a little sauce and that’s it, looks lazy. What’s the point of having so many different sauces if you can fully taste them? The little sauce I did have on my wings had good flavor, I just wanted more of it. And the hot and spicy wings weren’t spicy at all though.
You must ask for ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side as the wings come with none! You also have to order a side of celery, in which don’t bother, it’s only 50 cents but I received 3 pieces of celery! I may as well just went to the grocery store and bought it. Hopefully they can make a small few changes cause it could be a great spot for Bridgeport/​Stratford.
