Very disappointed in this place. I used to come here with my parents years ago and enjoy it. I went with a couple of co-workers for lunch on a snowy day. First, it is not owned by Italians, most likely Albanians who all sit at a table and look at you like you shouldn’t be there. After some decent soup and a cheaply made salad, I received my tomato basil pasta with meatballs. The sauce was pretty watery, but the taste was okay. I cut into a meatball, and a long jagged piece of thick aluminum foil was inside of the meatball. It reminded me of the razor blade in candy apple myths. I gave them back to the waitress, and refused to get a different batch of meatballs. The waitress apologized, but didn’t take anything off the bill, not even offer a coffee or dessert on the house for something that could have sliced my intestines up. I’ll never go back there again after that.

A little disappointed. It was a local go to, but recently, the food is just ok, but the last couple of times we’ve been there, the orders for take out were wrong. Imagine going home and finding your order was wrong, very frustrating, and their marsala tasted like brown gravy.

I have been eating their pizza since I was a kid. So good! My favorites are the sausage and the bacon! Nice crust, not too thick or too thin and a good sauce! Pretty small place though so it can get crowded and the parking lot could be bigger.

You can’t go wrong with Mario’s is whether it’s for delicious pizza or a quick wedge(grinder for you non NY ers) or if you’re up for something fancier you need not look elsewhere! Mario’s specials are always amazing. Tonight I had the scallops for shrimp and a sherry wine sauce with rapini(broccoli rabe). It was fantastic! $ 21 huge portion and a great house salad comes included. Tell me who still gives you a salad except a dinner. Get a half carafe for $ 9 and you and your wife can have a nice meal out that you would pay double for in Fairfield. Now don’t get me wrong your not going to get the ambiance of fancy Westport or Fairfield place and yes we love going out to fancy places too, but if your looking for a great casual dinner or casual place but eat like a king without breaking the bank then Marios is an excellent choice. Cheers to Jimmy, Gerta, Nick and the rest of the great staff!

Last night my fiancé’s sister joined us for dinner here. She lives out in the Midwest and misses GOOD Italian food and pizza! We started off with the hot antipasto: clams casino, mussels in garlic/wine sauce, shrimp, and fried mozzarella… and dinner was our usual large half pepperoni, half cheese pizza… I enjoyed a Caesar salad with grilled chicken(yummy) and had a slice of pepperoni. His sister enjoyed the pizza immensely, she even wanted the leftovers sent back home! Dessert…we all split a cannoli. Good size, enough for everyone to enjoy. I haven’t had a cannoli in ages and this one was delicious! May I add that if you order a large ice water as I did, you get a carafe of ice water so you can refill at your leisure? Great idea! Our waitress was terrific, can’t recall her name but she was great! Quiet for a Sunday night when we were there but it was okay as it was a holiday weekend. I just may get the grilled chicken in the Caesar salad next time we get take-out :)

Marios is amazing, and given all the good choices in Bridgeport nowadays, it should still be your first stop. Forget these Unilocal idiots; notice how Jenny S. and Harry J. both had IDENTICAL reviews. Not strange at all. I grew up with Marios food and even though I don’t live in the area anymore, every time I pass through I make sure to stop by for dinner. Their Clams Casino is the best I’ve ever had, and certain dishes like Chicken a la Luigi or Steak Trifungi are to die for. Don’t forget their Chicken Parm or their Shrimp Francese, because these are top notch as well. You honestly cannot go wrong with this spot. Most of the waitresses have been there for 20+ years, so if they don’t treat you with respect, it’s probably because you’re being an idiot who deserves poor service. Otherwise, they’re on top of their game. Support Marios and say hi to Selina!

Great food, and very consistent. The waitresses are always nice and accommodating. The owner is usually there and actually doing work, not just showing her face. The restaurant is small and if you come with a group(maybe 5 or more) get there before 5 as they do not take reservations and the seats fill up shortly after 5 — and it’s not the blue hairs filling it up, it’s everyone! Highly suggest if you’re looking for traditional Italian food in a cozy environment… and if you want leftovers!

On weekend visits to the city and surrounding area usually stop here for dinner. Really good food… decent prices and service is good WHENNOTCROWDED. As this is a very small place, the wait staff seems to get overwhelmed when busy. The décor is certainly nothing to write home about and if you want an intimate dinner, this is not the place. However, if you’re looking for really tasty Italian/pie at decent prices… not a bad choice.

I’ve visited Mario’s only when I’m in the mood for a standard grinder or spaghetti and meatballs. Most of the menu is overpriced considering average taste and quality, questionable service, and the ordinary atmosphere. I’m not a fan of their pizza either, so I wouldn’t recommend take out either.

It’s hard to come by New York style pizza in Connecticut, we’re so happy we found this place, especially so close to Trumbull. It’s not Napoletana style like Pepe’s, it’s more like that pizza by the slice style. Would like to try some real entrees from here.

Mario the Baker is located on busy Main Street in Bridgeport across the street from Price Rite. First off, I need to say the parking situation is horrible. It is the first thing that comes to mind when I think about this establishment. There is a very small lot to the left of the building, but apparently very recently the chiropractor office next door bought this small slice of parking spaces. The last time I ate here, a man in a lawn chair waved us to stop and told us Mario’s lot would open up at 6pm(it was around 5 – 5:15pm when we showed up) and to park elsewhere in the meantime. We parked there anyway, but later I moved my car to a nearby residential side street for fear that I might get towed. I’ve only eaten here a few times but the food has been pretty lackluster. My Italian staple is chicken parm and the two times I have ordered it were pretty average. The last time I dined here I ordered the eggplant rollatini. Two decent pieces of stuffed eggplant but no side order of pasta. I kind of would have liked that to take home or fill up on. All entrees come with a side salad or soup of the day.

Kinda annoyed because this is the second time they would not let us sit at 1030pm because they’re «closed», yet it says online that it closes at 12. I would love to try the food if they ever let us eat it

This is a fabulous neighborhood restaurant. The service is excellent. The food will remind you of homemade favorites that your grandma used to make. The seafood and veal dishes are exceptionally well prepared.

Two thumbs up! One of our favorite places to dine. Great food! Dinner specials are excellent. Pizza is ok. We mostly order dishes. Service is Excellent! The place is small, expect to wait if you go during dinner time or on the weekends. The first time I went I was pleasantly surprised because from the outside it’s not very appealing to the eye. Now it’s usually our first choice of places to eat. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed with the dishes and some good vino!

One word: Horrible. Been to this place 2 times. First time I went I got a pizza to go. I guess they made the pizza to big because it was squashed into the box with some slices over lapping others and they forgot a topping. Tonight I decided to give them a second chance. I ordered a meatball parm. What I got was a 12 inch loaf of bread with TWO meatballs(cut in half) in it for $ 7. And the thing is, they sell meatballs for $ 1.50 each. So I got $ 3 worth of meatballs(their cost is closer to $ 1 as I am in the food service industry and know costing restaurant supplies) and a 50 cent loaf of bread(their cost) and some sauce and cheese(maybe another 50 cents their cost). I totally understand having to make a profit, but this a down right rip off. And to top it all off, the meatballs and sauce were as bland as could be, no flavor at all, ended up just cutting it up for the dogs dinner. Oh well, you live and you learn, and I learned not to bother with place ever again.

Mario the Baker continues to impress me… The service is always impeccable at this family owned Italian favorite. I had the chicken parm entrée today, the portions are enormous… big enough to get 2 to 3 servings. Also, the stuffed mushrooms were phenominal… tried a special with shrimp, pasta and broccoli rabe, which I am sure I will dream about tonight…
