The best thing about this place is the beautiful label you will have on a bottle of wine, if you choose to purchase one. From all of the wineries that give tastings, this one falls flat. It is a preset menu that does not allow for deviations in trying other wines. I was lucky in coming here the one time they seemed to have some bread to nibble on while drinking. The staff are a mixed lo;,\ hopefully when you go, you will have one of the great servers. The gardens are nice, but the entire place makes one feel as if these people are doing YOU a favor by letting you walk around and taste their stock. With so many other choices, I have not bothered going back after the third time because of that.

We had a fantastic tasting experience and really enjoyed the wine. We were lucky enough to meet Anthony who was so energetic, enthusiastic, and overall great to work with. We will definitely be back and joined the club as a result of the delicious wine and great service.

Great educational experience. Anthony, who runs the tasting room, has an infectious enthusiasm and wonderful knowledge of the wines. Best tasting experience on Long Island for us.

My bf and I stopped here during a trip out east last week. We decided to do a tasting, which was wonderful. Very friendly and knowledgable staff, and the tasting area outside is beautiful. We didn’t love any of the wines enough to buy a bottle, but we also weren’t able to select which ones we wanted to taste. We may visit again in the spring to try a bottle of our choice.

Friendliest vineyard on Long Island! This place gets it and will allow guests to sample wines that are not on the set«tasting list». We bought more than one! Hosts were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Small tasting room. Great experience.

AWFUL service. We wanted to do a wine tasting but the hostess had such an attitude, first she told us 30 minute wait then when we said no problem we’d wait she told us it actually wasn’t an option because we were a group of 6 and needed a reservation. Posted on their website and on the door it says 7 of more. When I looked at her confused she said«I dont understand what your problem is just buy a bottle for your group and sit outside» When we were deciding on a bottle(we ended up getting 3) we asked to try 2 of them and she was rude the entire time, when we asked questions about the chardonnay she gave a loud sigh and rolled her eyes before answering

I went back and forth between two and three stars for this place. If I could, I’d probably give it 2.5. I was underwhelmed with Channing Daughters Winery. Although I normally frequent the north fork vineyards, a friend and I decided to take the trip to the south fork to visit Wolffer Estate. Unfortunately, they were closed for a private event, so we ended up at Channing Daughters. We were charged before our tasting, which was a bid odd to me, as every other vineyard I had ever been to waited until the tasting was over to ask for payment. Makes more sense that way, so if you plan to buy a bottle or two, you can just add it to your total. The wines were just ok. There were no standouts to me. I’m not sure what I’m missing because I found both vermouth varieties, which seem to be very popular, to be undrinkable. The one bright spot was the friendly service. We were helped by several different servers and they were all kind and knowledgeable about their product. Also, be advised… the vineyard does not allow outside food — and they also don’t serve any. Next time I’ll call Wolffer ahead of time to ensure they’re open, or just hit one of my trusted vineyards on the north fork instead, like Paumonauk or Sherwood House.

Excellent wine. The service was outstanding. You get more than you pay for. Lovely ambiance and sculptures. Ask for the history of the vineyard. Had such a great time!

I tried the Channing Daughters Ramato, aka Orange Pinot, the other night in Brooklyn Heights and it was amazing! I’ve been thinking about it since I had it and knew I’d be out here this weekend. Just stopped by and the winery is absolutely beautiful and so quaint. They let me try the wine even though I knew the one I had wanted and it was wonderful. So glad I stopped by! I’ll definitely be visiting this winery again.

By far my favorite winery on Long Island. I was first exposed to Channing Daughters wine at a nearby bar in Brooklyn — Colonie. They showcase the«orange» wine and I was instantly smitten. Shortly after, I saw Channing wine featured on the Gramery Tavern wine list. I made a point to check out this winery following that and I couldn’t have been more pleased. I love all of their varieties, especially the rose, & their selection of Vermouth is incredible! I can’t wait to go back and visit again!

It was very pretty outside where you do the wine tastings. The second we walked in it wasn’t the best vibe. I got a very snobby feel from the staff. Like I’m sorry, I like wine tastings and pretending to be classy as I swirl and sniff my glass, but I’m down like a full 2 bottles by now, so let me live and do my thing, please. Also, this is one of the more pre set wineries. You pay a flat rate and they give you a set of wines to try, it’s not a «pick and choose» your own like most of the wineries out East are.

Five friends and I drove up from Brooklyn to get away on the first weekend the weather has been enjoyable since the winter. We arrived just after the winery opened at 11am and Anthony instructed our wine tasting. He was so amazing and personable, he made the experience so much fun. He included history of the vineyard along with his own and his background. If I lived closer I would 100% be a part of their club membership. All of my friends bought tons of wine and DONOTSKIPONTHEVERMOUTH. Can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I have tasted wine at every single winery on the North Fork of the east end over the past 10 years, so today we decided to hit the South Fork. The experience we just had at Channing Daughters was like no other tasting experience we have ever had. Anthony was our server and spent over an hour reviewing all of the wine and other varietals with us. Clearly this cannot be done during peak season, but on a Sunday morning in January, he had the time. I do not like dry wines, but this winery does not offer any semi dry or sweet varietals. That being said, I still thoroughly enjoyed my tasting, And it may have possibly expanded my palate to include drier wines. Anthony thoroughly explained what went into making each type of wine that they serve, and you can tell that he and the rest of the staff are passionate about the wines that they produce here. I repeat, this is unlike any other winery we have ever been to on the North Fork. The tasting room itself was a small, intimate setting. The grounds are gorgeous and we are currently walking through the sculpture area, which is just breathtaking. My husband’s favorite was the over and over, which is a very Full-bodied red. We took a bottle of that home and are seriously considering becoming wine club members here.

I just finished doing a tasting here and it was like nothing I’ve ever experienced at a winery before. We came here on a quiet Sunday in January when there was only one other couple besides us. We were guided through our tasting by Anthony who was very friendly and knowledgable. The in-depth description that went along with every wine that we tasted was absolutely fantastic. Anthony took so much pride in the wines that he was pouring, he alone was the difference between a good and a great experience at the winery! No other winery that I have ever been to was able to match what we experienced here and I have been to every winery on the east end of Long Island over the last several years. This experience was worth so much more than the $ 10 per person that it costs. I wound up buying the Over & Over red, but can honestly say that there wasn’t a single wine that I didn’t like. Tasting the vermouths was a treat as well. The grounds are beautiful. Hidden in the back of the winery is a garden dedicated to wooden sculptures, this is definitely worth a look! During the peak season I don’t think that one would be able to get the exact experience that we had, as they were able to cater to us for about an hour. So if you get a chance during the winter or at least before it gets busy head out there and check them out! Either way this is definitely a great winery to check out and we are very glad that we did.

Love this place. First the wine: it’s terrific. Easily the best on the South Fork, and far beyond that. It’s really well thought out, and extremely interesting, while delicious as well. The place: it’s just pretty. Not big like others, simply small and elegant. The people: are fantastic. We’ve tasted with Laura and Anthony, and they really do their jobs well, describing things, offering any information they can find, and having conversations. The intimacy is really a treat. It’s a place that’s absolutely a pleasure to visit.

Our favorite winery to visit and our favorite wines. Off the beaten path and well worth the ride. The staff shines. They will meet your level, be it newbie or refined palette. Warm and open… no snooty wine snobbery here. The wines are fun, fresh takes on grapes with something for every taste and something new for even the most bored of tongues. From simple and clean to multiple layered big tastes. There’s something special about the earth these grapes grow in that makes these wines unique. Along with white, red, and the best rose on the planet, they have a type they call«orange» which has become our favorite. We’ve never had a wine here we didn’t like. We visit in the off season for more quiet attention but sadly we miss out on wandering the beautiful grounds and enjoying the sculpture garden. Join the wine club like we did and enjoy«care packages» every other month at home plus you get to sample tasting fee free any of the wines any time you are in the area plus invitations to special functions throughout the year.

The best part of this vineyard/winery are the wooden sculptures.(Ahem, second best to the Channing family themselves). I still remember the day that Walter Channing decided to suspend a dying tree upside down and cast a spotlight on it. This art inspired the visionary label that marked the first bottled wines. I find peace and comfort in all of his wooden carvings. They are a wonderful compliment to the tastings. Looking forward to my next visit.

We LOVED this place… for the wines and especially for our server Anthony who was super charismatic and passionate about wines. He seemed to know EVERYTHING about wines and answered all our questions and added more stories. What a wonderful experience. .and have you heard of orange wines before??? Really interesting flavors. Orange wine is white wine with some fermentation with the skins on. I thought Anthony was joking around when he said we would be tasting some orange wines but we did! We were a bit bummed that we hadn’t planned to check our luggage and thus could not buy any wines to bring back with us. Although we did see that the Rosato is served at Gjelina if you want to check out the wine and let me know what you think!
