Tico’s doesn’t disappoint. The perfect take out dinner or a nice quiet place to dine. The Cuban sandwich and plantain chips are my go to and I probably won’t ever deviate. The sandwich is large and very tasty. The garlic sauce was too spicy to me but it didn’t even need the sauce in my opinion. Easily the best local restaurant in Bridge City.

Dropped back by to try the Cuban sandwich and I must say I should not have waited so long. It was delicious. My wife hah the shrimp poboy and it was very good also.

The food here is biggie bomb. All I’ve had to eat though is the cuban. I kiggity love it. Shout out to the fried smashed plantains as they hold their own against the cuban. I don’t like ham, pickles or mustard but somehow ticos makes it winder full for tasty buds

When I visited family in Bridge City, they wanted to take me to this Cuban place. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. We had something in the area other than Mexican/Cajun/BBQ? Really? Don’t get me wrong – I’m completely fine with the usual SETX food scene – but I was intrigued by the thought of trying something different. Tico’s is located on Texas Avenue in a little strip mall. I’m not sure if the strip mall has a name, but you’ll find Tico’s right next to Total Impressions Salon. Tico’s is a casual place. I believe they let us select our own table, but I don’t know if that is always the case. They just weren’t very busy during our late afternoon lunch. I know very little about Cuban cuisine, so this was a new experience for me. I could have played it safe by ordering a grilled chicken salad, a burger, or a turkey sandwich, but I wanted something more authentic – something more Cuban-y. My first choice was the blackened mahi mahi, served with white rice and black beans. It had a little Cuban flag next to it on the menu, so that had to be some kind of Cuban dish, right? However, when I wasn’t able to substitute extra black beans in place of the white rice, I decided to go with something else. Our waitress had recommended the camaron enchilado, described on the menu as «Cuban style shrimp creole served with white rice.» Although it was served with the white rice I hadn’t wanted, I threw logic out the window and ordered it. I guess I was feeling a little crazy that afternoon. Our waitress said my dish could be prepared with varying levels of heat, and I of course asked for the spiciest one. I was in Texas, and that’s just how we do things there. I will admit it was spicy, even for me. That meant I just had to eat more slowly. And I was sweating a little. ;) I was surprised to receive a tostone on my plate, as it was not listed on the menu description for my dish. If you’ve never heard of tostones, they are slices of plaintains that have been fried twice.(Look at me, acting like I knew what tostones were before I went to Tico’s.) I didn’t absolutely love this one dish I happened to order. There wasn’t anything wrong with the presentation or preparation. I think I just made a huge mistake by going with the super, extra hot spice level. I’d love to go back another time to try something else. My family members each had Cuban sandwiches and LOVED them.(That’s actually why we were there. They wanted more Cuban sandwiches. :))

Fabulous food, great people. The owners take great pride in serving the best Cuban food. The pork chunks are to die for — do not miss the garlic sauce with them! Tostones are addicting, and the homemade flan amazing!

The one star is not for the quality of the food, which is probably the best in town, but for the demeanor of the management. Though it is not mentioned on the menu, splitting a sandwich is no longer allowed. This could be easily remedied by offering a half sandwich options because the servings are overly generous for lunch items, which leads to wasting food and wasting money. Even adding a charge for splitting the order would be less off putting. With a little thought the management could find multiple options that wouldn’t make the customer want to turn around and walk out the door. I’m extremely disappointed in the unfriendliness of this hometown business.

The Cuban Sandwich was great. Fried plantians, perfect. My wife had a burger and said it was good. Best french fries I’ve had in while. Gotta to go back and try the pork chunks. Our server was pleasant and the service was quick. Pleasant relaxed atmosphere with Cuban music just loud enough to add atmosphere. Saw lots of people coming in for carry out.

This is one of my absolute favorite places. You have to try the Cuban sandwich, there is nothing like it in the area. I have tried a lot of different items and everything is great and service is both friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful food!!! The waitstaff was amazing so helpful really took the time to walked me through the menu let me have samples of different items. Atmosphere is very casual, if you’re going through Bridge city you’ve got to stop wonderful authentic Cuban sandwiches. You have to ask for it because it’s not on the menu but they have some amazing Cuban coffee.

Several friends & family who live in BC have raved about this place since it opened, so as I find myself in town on an unexpected visit I made it a priority to try this place out. My cuban sandwich great & I still can’t believe I got full on a kids-size portion! The full sandwich fills a whole basket & would definitely share it with someone else! Overall, the staff is friendly & the cook will give you free samples without hesitation. I really wanted to try some of their coffee but the machine was broken. I would also like to see some variety in their menu. Cuban sandwiches are great but there’s other cuban dishes out there that could really set them apart if they expanded their horizons.

Solid 4, borderline 5 stars. Authentic Cuban food served in a very casual strip center in Bridge City, Texas. I got meet Tico, who speaks fluent Cuban Spanish, and makes an authentic, flavorful Cuban sandwich. The bread is very fresh, the meat is melt-in-your mouth good and perfectly spiced. Get it just as it comes with pickles, mustard and melted Swiss cheese and you won’t regret it. I also subbed plantains for French fries for more authenticity. A great departure from most of the fare in the area, and worth the drive from Beaumont!

Tico’s Cuban Café is the best restaurant in Bridge City… maybe the world… maybe not. Still, I’m Cuban and have had Cuban sandwiches(pork, ham, swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles, by definition) from many restaurants and family kitchens, but this is the best. I promise. It has been my experience that most restaurants/deli’s use a sliced pork loin for the pork, but Tico’s does a sexy shredded/olive oil/garlic/pepper pork that is delightful. Seriously, make this happen in your mouth, STAT. It is also of note that the Vaca Frita(shredded beef magic), pork chops, and appetizer sampler are out of control and highly recommended if you’re not in the mood for a sandwich.
