It looks a little divey in the bar area where you enter, but the food sure does eat good. It appears that a lot of locals come here and we got here early enough to sit at the bar. In my notes I have written«great margarita.» If I wrote this down, it must have been outstanding. We started with appetizers. Oysters on the half shell for me, clams casino for John. I loved my oysters. J’s clam casinos were tasty also. Our main courses were shrimp scampi with pasta for J and a sirloin strip for me. J’s shrimp pasta looked delicious and I think he out ordered me. My sirloin came with a baked potato, mushrooms and mixed vegetables. It was fabulous. Dessert? We had a fantastic apple crisp. Would I come back here? Yes, whenever I’m in town.

We often go here later in the evening during the off-season. We are always warmly welcomed and the food in very good. A nice, cozy place in Brewster!

«Excellent chowder» We ate here for the 3 nights that we were in Brewster. The chowder, sourdough rolls and salad made for a wonderful dinner. The last night, we ordered a fish dish with baked potato and salad. Excellent dinners.

Horrible service! We sat at the bar and the waitress was super snooty! When we asked to have our chowder reheated, she made a snide remark about steam coming out of it. Quahogs were all stuffing and no clams. Ok clam chowder. Will never come here again!

My husband and I ate dinner here last night. The lobster roll was delicious, not big and a very small amount of fries. $ 24. The wine glasses are very small. $ 7. My husband ordered a rum and coke, and it came in what looked like a large shot glass. I was cracking up. It’s cute inside — old, but pretty. Only about a dozen tables. Might have been a better lunch than dinner option. Food was good, I just thought the prices were a bit high for what we got.

I saw the review with the picture of the Clam cake plate and it looked so good we gave it a try. The bar behind it looked nice but we boldly went up the steps to the restaurant instead. The moment we stepped in though I was hit with a smell of mildew and cleanser. there were two rooms, so I figured it was just that one room that had them smell, but no such luck. I could not see myself eating there, but it was quiet at the time we went and the service was fast — a great thing normally, and before we knew it my husband ordered a beer and we all had water as we looked at the menu. very pricey. $ 24 and upwards to $ 32ish. we were there with our kids and the kids meals ranged $ 7-$ 11. pricey. was this really going to be our big night out? We were trying to figure out what we could eat and me realizing that there did not seem to be a clam plate on the menu(must have been a special) and I was still struggling with the odor –the waitress came over just as my husband and I gave each other the«lets get out of here» look. my son ordered pasta and off we went to the races. we got the kids pasta and hubby ordered the chowder and I ordered potstickers and a beer. Food review: first potsticker was awesome because I was starved. The rest were pretty good, but my husband said they tasted like they were frozen. the chowder, was very good the pasta with butter: per my children– was bad, over cooked and tasteless, like the noodles in Campbells soup after rinsed. my son inhaled them though, he was starved. We spent $ 40 plus a tip so $ 48. I do think the bar behind it would be a great place, but I don’t think we could bring the kids in.

We had a pleasant meal here. Service couldn’t be knocked. Girls were very friendly. I had the pasta from hell which was very good. Scallops were cooked well and were large. Chowder for starter was very tasty too. My wife is a vegetarian and didn’t enjoy her salad. She said it was very bland. She had beets ravioli for mains and said it was incredibly sweet. She didn’t enjoy her dinner at all. I had the large chowder and didn’t know it would have been included if it was the smaller portion. My wife was the same for the salad. I feel they could have told us rather than us discovering it after. We had a $ 26 bottle of Malbec which wasn’t great. What do you expect for that price, well a little more than we got. Not great! Overall we had a nice evening and I feel 3 star is probably pretty fair. Not sure if I would go back!

Cute and quaint little place. We sat at a high top in the bar area. They had great specials for the evening and the regular dinner menu looked good as well. I went with the sweet potato bisque and the beet ravioli special. Both were delicious. The soup was creamy but not too heavy and had little chunks of sweet potato and the ravioli was savory with the perfect amount of sweetness from the beets. My friend had the clam chowder and the summer salad special and said both were very good. The bartender was our server and was very friendly and attentive. He even threw in some cool local ghost stories! The prices on the menu are actually very reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area. Will definitely come back!

Wasn’t sure what to make of this place from the décor but was highly recommended and walking distance so we gave it a try. The food was excellent and fresh. It could do with some new carpet and some sprucing which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Beautiful setting in a lovely old house. Friendly service and good food. I had the carrot and ginger bisque, which was great, and a very well-prepared burger. They accommodate kids but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend for young children.

I am mid 40’s along with wife. Crowd was very old and so was ambience. Sat down and left before water was brought as I couldn’t stomach fine food in such an old place. Food may be the best in the world but just was not a lively place. AGAIN, DIDNOTEATTHEFOODBUTAGEOFCLIENTELEANDTHEAMBIENCEWASNOTINVIGORATING. The picture of the inside of the restaurant actually looks like the place we ended up at(brewster fish house) which was excellent. think pic on this site is wrong. Brewster fish house was a little on pricey side $ 150 with tip and drinks but excellent.

We saw it on the side of the road and pulled in at the last second. The service was prompt and lovely! The wine was good but the food was AMAZING! Fresh ingredients and creative options. It’s our first time to the Cape and this will be our first stop when we come back!

Lovely service at this very traditionally cozy spot! We were a party of six, mostly coworkers seeking well-deserved nourishment after a long day of meetings. The clam chowder was very good, as well as the other two appetizers we ordered: stuffed mushrooms and clams. Most of the party ordered the stuffed baked shrimp, which was delicious! They accompany it with fresh cooked vegetables and a potato side. The fish and chips was OK, but a tad bland. The shrimp scampi had maybe more pasta than shrimp. Would recommend and come back again!

Friendly waitstaff with decent food. In general I find the dining room to be a bit stuffy, but this is definitely a safe option for dinner if you need one but nothing above average about this place. Food is pretty good, wait staff is pretty friendly, ambiance is unmemorable.

Not bad. Not great. We had wonderful service but the food was just OK. Decent clam chowder, below average scallops, good swordfish. The décor is Cape Cod weathered but a little too worn. Peeling wallpaper and musty smell. Needs a bit of updating.

My family has been going here for many years. I have been here twice in the last 4 years. The service is friendly, the areas clean and the noise level is good. Comfortable dining areas in this 150+ year old Inn. The wine is served is slightly small glasses. I had the Santa Anna Malbec and it was good, but not a very good or great vintage. I started with a very nice Lentil soup and for dinner I went for comfort food and tried the Prime Rib Pot Pie with an Apple Cobbler side. It was excellent! Piping hot throughout with an excellent crust. The cobbler was a perfect complement. My wife had the British Fish & Chips. They were excellent as well, but she especially liked their cole slaw and she is not a big slaw lover.

We pulled into the driveway during a rainy day cruise of the cape. This place has it’s charm. I don’t thimk they’ve ever redecorated but the flowery wallpaper, lacey curtains and crown molding actually work. The service is slow but we weren’t in a hurry. My friend and I enjoyed some wine and watched the rain. Our sandwiches were the highlight of the lunch. I had a Cap Cod reuben and she had a regular reuben. They were both hot, toasty deliciousness. Best of all, they were normal sized. I hate wasting large portions when I’m on vacation.

I wouldn’t call it a «must» but this place was pretty good. Chowder was very good. Broiled scallops were very good. Sides were pleasing. Very quiet and comfortable setting. Service was truly stellar. I’m only giving it 4 because none of the food was the best I’d ever had. The price is more about the setting, which is very nice, but I’d rather pay for primo food. A receipt here from gets you into the woodshed lounge for free, but that place didn’t impress me.

Stumbled upon this place while hungry after a beach visit. The interior is warm and welcoming. I did feel like I was at someone’s grandmother’s house. We came in about 1pm on a Thursday afternoon and were greeted by a couple of people at a table looking like they were pouring over meal tickets and a bartender. The chowder was loaded with clams and potatoes, this is a very good thing! My only gripe with the chowder was that, contrary to the other review, wasn’t thick enough. It was exactly drinking clam juice, but it wasn’t as substantial as I would like. For my main lunch plate, I had the fried scallops. This would be a cool place to sit at the bar and watch tv with a bunch of friends. I don’t think I’d come back for a meal, but it isn’t too terrible.
