People of Bangor & Brewer & those flying into to BGR on the way Downeast to Ellsworth and Bucksport: rejoice! There is now a baby Whole Foods-like market born just 10 minutes from the airport.(If you are headed north on Rt.1A, it’s a tiny detour and WORTH it.) We found: local meat, local breads(try the P-Lane english muffins), local goat milk, local yogurt(try Balfour Farms, thick and tangy), and local produce. There’s also plenty of mainstream products, like Newman’s O’s, and Nasoya tofu. It’s got some local(frozen) seafood and chicken and really, really nice employees. You know how in a grocery, it’s hard to find the bathroom? There’s a nice one back near the café, well marked. Bulk foods, a deli case and even a smart selection of wine. This store is what you need to stock a vacation trip or a nice picnic or find healthy, local choices. I’ll be making it a regular stop.

Love this place! I’ve stopped in to the café for lunch a few times(the juices and blueberry iced tea are fab) and I shop here a couple times per week. Great selection of gluten-free foods and organic wines. Staff here is top notch– one woman leaves me dying laughing every time I see her in there.

Best food in Maine. Jay makes the most amazing sandwiches. Just had Pastrami with Appleslaw panini. Meat was so tender and not briny or salty and the Appleslaw was the perfect compliment. If you are in the Bangor area, do your stomach a favor and stop for a special sandwich

This review is solely for the café. We had two build your own sandwiches and a juice. All of the above were delicious and we would definitely come back and recommend the place to friends. As a business just starting up the workers seemed a little unorganized, but hopefully that will change as they figure things out. Also I hope that in the future the café will be a real café with espresso beverages rather than just coffee, as the Bangor/Brewer area oddly lacks these establishments. Lastly, I noticed that one of the smoothies they sell has a note that part of the proceeds will be donated to a charity. This is great, however the chosen charity is really not so great. With a store so focused on keeping things local it would be nice to see that donation go to a local charity rather than a national charity that spends a great portion of its money on its CEO.
