Simply put, the very BEST bead store I have found between North Carolina and Florida! But, I can’t leave it «simple», I must gush about this place. I can’t believe I haven’t written a review before this. First and foremost is the owner; she is delightful and someone you would want as your friend. I love her compassion towards animals she has rescued, and while that has nothing to do with her business, it makes you want to do business with her! And, of course, there’s her beads. When I come to NC twice I year, I stock up. She has things that I haven’t found anywhere else, and there is a superior quality about her stuff that I don’t find anywhere else. I shop around a lot, and even on the big well-known online place; but, I don’t find anything like what I find at A Better Bead, and certainly not the quality I find here. There’s not just beads in the store. There are also items made by local jewelry makers, crystals, and an entire back room of what I call«exotic» beads. Besides all that, her store is so cute and charming and things are so well organized. If you have any questions or anything, she is willing to help and give advice. Stop in here one day — you’ll come away happy. All good. If there were more than 5 stars, A Better Bead would get more.

While living in Western NC, we decided to take a day trip to Brevard because I learned of a really good bead shop there that was well worth the long drive. Luckily the person who told me about A Better Bead was right! Their selection is vast and varied and there is a lot to spend an hour or so looking through. I ended up with some very nice beads made from earth rocks and minerals as well as some seed beads and Swarovskis. The lady who owned the shop was very nice and helpful and even suggested a great place to go have lunch. AND, best part, she had a tree with a white squirrel so that in itself was well worth the haul as sometimes the squirrels can be quite shy.
