Made a wrong turn Monday night and didn’t want Mexican so I came here. Staff was friendly though the sushi chef wasn’t your typical greet n bow type. But if you talk to him he will respond. Started off with Miso soup which was saltier than any I’ve ever tried. Then had the Tenno #2 special along with Super California. What arrived were two rolls that looked alike with eel and some white cream on top. I asked about the eel and they said that’s how they come. Not sure about that but they tasted exactly the same and the tuna inside their special was really dark. So in essence, ‘No Fresh For YOU!’

I came in on a Mon at 11:04 for the $ 10.95 lunch buffet. They had 2 types of nigiri, 2 regular rolls and about 6 special rolls, plus Chinese food. I would have liked if they had soup and seaweed salad on the buffet but it was good regardless. An influx of people started coming in at 11:30. Prior to that there was a good variety of rolls. After the crowd came in you had to wait in line but it moved quick. I like that the sushi chefs don’t put out too many rolls because they keep fresh but it also means that they run out quick. Which is what occurred when the crowd came in. I went up twice and they only had about 3 different rolls as opposed to the original 8. They did have 2 sushi chefs but the poor guys can’t keep up with the demand. Even though I did enjoy the buffet I would probably just order from the menu next time.

Food was ok, but if you dont eat what you dont like from the buffet, they will charge you. Poor waitress had to tell me I owed 3 buck«service charge» for rice i left in plate… she showed me sign on table that i missed. Waitress was good and polite but the owner must think her customers are her children and they need to eat what’s on their plate. I like the concept of no waste, but i guess you just take the pieces of sushi you like and leave the rest mangled on the buffet line?

I came in late for the sushi buffet and was NOT disappointed. The Titan roll is hands down the best but they have amazing options on the bar. I will for sure make this a regular spot. The sushi is on point but what really sealed the deal was the Keith sweat slow jams they were playing. I’m so glad I work so close!!!

I was so excited to find Tenno in Brentwood today. I used to eat there every week when they were on west end. Unfortunately the nigiri I ordered without wasabi(I mentioned it to the server and wrote it in big letters on the paper) was covered in it. No one seemed to notice that I sat there with it for a while even though there were just 4 people in the restaurant. When I finally told the server she was very nice and offered to get them to make some more but I did not have time. She took the salad off my ticket(?) but they still charged me for over $ 30 for sushi most of which I didn’t eat. I usually don’t complain but when i checked out I told the owner I thought that was a lot for a lunch that was not what i ordered and did not eat. He acted as though he had no idea what I said and just smiled and laughed a little. I have been going to Tenno for years but this was a deal breaker for me.

After leaving an old school favorite, Thai phooket, because of awful staff attitudes– we drove around starving and decided to stop here. First off– the music here is epic. Shania Twain, savage garden, Toni Braxton, and Celine sending the titanic off as only she could do best. Maybe I’m a 90’s head, but I digress. I ordered the Japanese egg rolls. Not so easy on the eyes, but what an awesome texture and flavor. We also got the Shreveport orgasm roll. Out of this world. Next up beef bento boxes. The ginger dressing on the salad was hands down the best I’ve had. The miso was perfect. The array of tempura vegetables and shrimp were fun and tasty. The beef was epic. The California rice was a 7/10, but we were stuffed at that point. The fried rice had green beans and corn it so I was a little confused. Also, being from the south, I am a sweet tea enthusiast… They did not disappoint! Lastly, the service was excellent. We’ll def be back, often!

Absolutely the best sushi you can find in Nashville. Austin is an amazing sushi chef, and will never steer you wrong! Great service whether you’re at the bar or at the tables. A friendly and attentive staff. Thursday and Friday nights are my favorites — always fun people at the bar, and many regulars(a very good sign) I see there.

Amazing sushi the buffet with a variety of nice rolls(not the cheap generic ones) and the glass noodles are also amazing. The early 90s pop/r&b music is also awesome

The lunch buffet was the reason why I visited the place. –Unimpressive sushi(3 stars) –Limited availability of sushi(1 star): Although we arrived at 12:30 pm, there was limited effort to replenish the sushi.

Lunch buffet is the best thing that’s ever happened to Brentwood. Only 10.99 and you get actually sushi, not the fake crap that Chinese buffets try to sell you. Anyone who gives this place less than 5 stars is nothing but a troll. Trust me. I know.

THEBEST sushi restaurant ever. My husband was a little bit apprehensive about trying sushi, but this is now a place that he craves! Yes, service can be a bit slow, but it is more than worth it. Our favorites: The Nashville roll, the crazy roll, and the yum yum roll! Try it out, you will NOT regret it!

I honestly can’t believe this place is still in business. I went on a Friday night with my family and it seemed like they were severely understaffed. We didn’t even get to order until we were already there a good 30 min. It took nearly another hour to get our food, and when we did some of it was cold! It was like they’d forgotten about it. The waitress felt bad so she tried to give us more that was fresh and hot, but then it was undercooked. We seriously overpaid for the horrible food that we got. Then it took another 30 minutes to try to get out check. Absolutely dreadful. None of the people who came up to us to get us drinks even looked like they worked there — they were wearing workout clothes! I really miss Miyakos. I will never go back!

Of course, I read the reviews before going with a group of girlfriends. The list of sushi rolls are catered towards Americans, many with tempura something and/or eel sauce. My go to is Chirashi. I was extremely impressed with the quality of fish. I generally do not eat yellowtail, too fishy or tough at most places. However, I could cut this with my chopsticks. I was very pleased with my dish. I will return very soon to have more of this goodness!

2nd time I’ve been here. First for dinner. This time for lunch. Sushi for each meal. Unremarkable and disappointing. Was much better as Miyako’s. Sushi is now bland, not very tasty, and the lunch sushi specials are too limited. Don’t bother. Go to Peter’s instead across the parking lot from Kroger in Brentwood.

The lunch specials are a pretty good deal. 2 rolls and either soup or salad for either $ 8 or $ 9(that is including tax). Everyone at our table was fairly please with what they got. While I am not a sushi expert nor high-end snob, I will say that it was just good. I got the miso soup, the crunch crab roll, and Futo Maki Roll. They were all good, but rather standard. Nothing to really write home about. Brentwood is lacking in sushi joints(especially near to where I work) so I would certainly go back, but maybe next time I would try one of their fancier rolls or maybe a bento box. I noticed that someone else had gotten a bento box and it looked really good when I walked by. The bento box lunch deal is about the same price as the 2 rolls and soup or salad. However, it comes with fried rice, which I personally found rather odd. The place wasn’t crowded for lunch and it appeared to be very clean. The server was friendly, as was the guy who made the rolls. The staff made it a point to say goodbye and thank us for coming in. All in all, nice, quick lunch at a reasonable price.

Loved it! I loved the Double Devil Roll which was one of the new specials of the sushi chef. However unfortunately, One thing that I seemed to have heard a lot was people coming in and complaining that it wasn’t like Miyako. Which was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard. You can’t compare TWODIFFERENT sushi restaurants that closely just because it’s in the same spot. They’re under a different management and owner, of course it’s different. And not to mention kind of rude and discouraging to the owners. They still have some of the Miyako rolls however, probably due to popular demand. But Tenno’s sushi was amazing just as it is.

Great sushi! Great service! Our family is so glad Tenno moved to Brentwood! We would travel the distance to dine here. The first time we showed up at the new Brentwood location they were so welcoming and made us feel so special. The sushi chef even sent us some special surprises to go with our meal. My favorite is the playgirl roll. Other rolls we love are the Santa Fe roll, Shreveport Orgasm roll and Sunny Roll. The sashimi is always fresh and I love that they serve it on top of cucumbers sometimes. They even have the most delicious fresh Uni, but go on Thursdays b/c it sells out quick. Tenno is our go to sushi spot and feel so lucky to have such a great place right around the corner.

My wife and I had been regulars at Miyako and we decided to try it’s replacement Tenno. Big disappointment! Miso soup was watery with no flavor. The salad was iceberg lettuce with a gloppy dressing. Why do Nashville Japanese restaurants insist on serving terrible salads? My wife ordered shrimp tempura and got some kind formed shrimp cylinder coated with cornmeal, certainly not tempura batter. I had the bento box with teriyaki beef. The beef was marginal certainly not the quality of Soy Bistro. I got a «tempura» shrimp also and considered it inedible. The California roll in my box was just OK. Service was good but the staff seemed less than proud of the food they were serving. We are not going back.

Empty parking places at 6PM on Friday night was the first indication of what was confirmed by dining at Tenno, the new offering in what was, for many years, Miyako’s location. We loved and frequented Miyako for 12 years. This was one of the solid options to take out of town guests and a welcome spot on Friday after a long week. The first thing you notice is that the understated, simple, clean décor of Miyako is now a dark garish caricature of a Japanese restaurant. The most gaudy aspect of this redesign are four deep hued paper lanterns, one with the word SUSHI, in block letters. Miyako actually had an authentic Japanese sensibility, Tenno is like a bad Disney version. Only two things are the same, the celebrity photos, most of which were there 12 years ago, and the edamame, which was steamed perfectly and was fresh, and the unsweet tea, it was good. Everything else, every-thing, was either fake or stale. The tempura was chalky white and freezer burned, rice bone dry, and instead of well steamed dumplings you got out of the package fried hard shells. Many of the menu mainstays are simply gone; we heard two other tables asking about items that were no longer listed. The overriding theme was gauche overdone everything — even the miso soup was over salted. Peter’s Sushi is lousy compared to Miyako and this place is well below Peter’s. The staff was friendly and sincerely trying to interpret the menu and find substitutes for old favorites which failed miserably. They were quick and glad to serve but they’re fighting uphill with any former customer. Miyako’s was a favorite place for families, you’d see kids home from college there every third week of December — and on a weekend it was packed, every night. If you didn’t know the difference Tenno may be fine for a segment of the customer base; any former Miyako regular will give it one shot and never return. It’s sad that a Brentwood fixture has been replaced by this faux fare. Sadly, never again, Tenno is crap.
