I have been a frequent customer for the last 8 years since I have moved to Long Island. I take the drive from Huntington, all the way to here because there are literally no Colombian bakery’s out here but besides that, there food is absolutely amazing.

The food wasn’t bad, but is the worst service ever, all the counter ladys are mad, i paid $ 35 with $ 50, and the took like 10 minutes to give my change back, absolutely not recomended.

Best bakery in brentwood. The bread is delicious, authentic Colombian pastries and food. My favorite bakery in the area.

I am a member of a community Spanish class and we visited this bakery as a field trip. First, the manager was really great as he worked with our instructor ahead of time to realize that a group of students with beginner Spanish skills would be coming in. The place was packed the whole time, never stopped as people came in to get both their savory and sweet goods. At first, I tried the empanadas. They were pretty tasty. I only had two and they’re really small so eventually I went back to the counter to find something else to eat since this was my dinner. I have no idea what it was called but it was a plantain, sliced down the middle with a strip of cheese and guava sauce. It was interesting. It was good… but still to this day I’m on the fence about it. I would love to go back but I feel like I would have to go back with someone who speaks Spanish to fully know what’s what.

La Espiguita started out as a great bakery. I use to say there was little difference between their product and the bakeries in Colombia, but that’s no longer the case. Little by little the empanadas shrank followed by the breva bread. I use to find quite a few brevas in the bread and now it became a treasure hunt. The chorizos are ¼ big pieces of fat and the list goes on. I realize food prices have increased, but readies the prices and stop altering the food. My 20 minute trip to La Espiguita has recently ended. It’s not worth my time and money. Sorry guys.

I don’t have enough good things to say about this place. I will never buy supermarket bread ever again. For only $ 2.50 you can get high quality loaves that could last 3 – 4 days for 1 person. My personal favorite is the cheese bread(Pan de Queso) for $ 2.75. If you want lunch or dinner there they serve fresh hot food every day. For $ 2.19 they give you a little plate filled with various slices of chorizo, pork, and two dark plantains. The empanadas are good but too small for me to be $ 1.19 each. I’m a regular customer at La Espiguita and I can tell you that whether it’s 1PM or 8PM the place is always busy. You can even see them restocking finished rolls and empanadas right in front of you. This is a hidden gem of a bakery and I highly recommend it.

Whenever I visit the Island — a pitstop is required! You cannot beat these Colombian empanadas. Potatos, shredded beef, yummy spices… oh, boy! There’s always a wait for them, since it is probably their top seller. Be patient… worth the wait.

This place is awesome. They have all sorts of breads filled with cheese. What more could one ask for?! I can’t remember the names of anything, but I’ve had a giant fried ball with cheese inside, a ring-shaped bread(WITHCHEESEINSIDE), and a flattish, corny bread thing. Yes, with cheese inside. All are deliciously fantastic. Go here and order anything with cheese in it and you will be a happy camper.

Love the Colombian Latin American Bakery, especially their Empanadas, Pastel de yuca, and many other sweets.

If you like a good empanada, then oddly enough this is a place you NEED to go visit. Seriously, these are hands down the best empanadas Ive had on long island. And they are columbian style, so none of that flake pastry crap. These are made with that corn meal style dough(masa I believe). Filled with potato and pork. Served with some very tastey homemade sauce(be sure to ask for some, its free). If you’re feeling adventurous then Id suggest trying some of their other hot-homemade creations. Unfortunately I do not speak spanish so I do not know the names of these other items. But one in particular looks like a yellow softball. Its insides are filled with similar filling to a chicken pot pie. Its very very good! They also make these other lighter colored items that look like an over sized empanada. They have a few different meats and some egg inside. Also very delicious. The best part about this place, you can go in with about $ 6 and eat a massive meal. Empandas cost just under $ 1 per and the other items I mentioned were around $ 1 – 2.
