Learned more about cisterns here than anywhere in my life. They have one fully operating with a walk through park of beautiful plants fully documenting the history of rain water collection. Lovely and only one of the things you should stop to see in downtown Brenham. Makes for part of a nice day trip.

Toubin Park is both interesting and unusual. It’s not at all what you think of when you hear or see the word«park», but it is an easy visit and a quick history lesson without investing a great deal of time. If you know nothing about cisterns, or are curious to see the early methods used to bring water to towns like Brenham, this park is a must-visit. It’s hidden between two buildings and not readily visible, but it’s a quiet spot to contemplate how far(or not) we’ve come.
