Blue Bell Tours & Country Store

For $ 6 you get to tour the factory and learn how ice cream is made. Tours are about 30 people at a time and you walk ¹⁄₃ mile for the 30 minute tour. It ends in the ice cream parlor where you get unlimited samples of the 16 flavors and a full scoop of your choice.
If you want another scoop it’s $ 1. Scoops are large!
There is a gift shop for everything Blue Bell your heart desires. There is parking behind the factory if front lot is full. We went on a Thursday in July at 11am. We got on the 11:35 tour.
It was much busier than I thought it would be considering it’s in the middle of nowhere. You must wear the paper hat for the full experience:)

Awesome tour! Informative, to the point and not too long! I truly enjoyed how we were able to see the assembly line, and all the machines at the factory working in real time. At the end of the tour you can also try as many flavors as you would like a get a fee scoops of ice cream! I also loved the history of Blue Bell and it’s authenticity, truly a staple of Texas. Also, they do not allow picture during the tour in order to protect the privacy of the employees.
Other than that, I would definitely recommend it. The drive there is very pretty, all country side of Texas so a lot of green, farms and cows!

I’ve been wanting to check out the tour for awhile (read: years!). I love Blue Bell and whole-​heartedly believe it’s «the best ice cream in the country.» :)
We finally brought our daughter on Monday. The gist is this: The tour is cute and informative. It’s fun to see the workers making the treats we’ve all come to love. Tours leave every 5 minutes between 8:30 and 3:30 (I think). They last 30 minutes and tickets can be purchased online up to the day before your visit ($ 6 for adults, free for kids 5 and under). Parking is free. There are no tours on the weekends.
The folks who run the tours are young and nice enough. They have lots of good information about your favorite flavors, and it’s great to get a ‘free’ (paid with admission) scoop at the end of the tour. Additional scoops are just $ 1.
There is a store at the end with lots of touristy Blue Bell and ice cream-​related souvenirs for sale.
But, just to be fair, it’s a bit of a long drive from Austin for a scoop of ice cream… We’re glad we went, but set your expectations accordingly!

Great tour!!! Awesome for the kiddos not to much walking and who doesn’t love ice crème.
They are only open on the weekdays till 3 pm and run tours every 30 min. If you make it to the Area it is only a 1.5 hr drive from Houston take it. It is worth the drive and the kids will love it. At the end you get free Ice crème and its a good size serving.
So if u can make it to brenham do it you will not be disappointed.

Blue Bell is a local ‘thang’, and it was about time for us to drive out from Austin for a visit. So we did.
Of course, to do so means you have to take the tour. It’s only $ 5 for adults, so not expensive, plus you get a large scoop of Blue Bell Ice Cream for free at the end!
Don’t know if it was just the time of year or what, but we were part of a large group, which meant crowding people in to see through the windows overlooking the production areas. Our tour guide seemed more interested in keeping us on schedule than giving us any real information about the history of the company and such. I noticed her looking at her watch, a lot.
Did I mention that you get a large scoop of ice cream at the end? Oh yes we did, and I had already checked out the flavor I wanted… Blackberry Cobbler. Oh my was it ever so good!
If you’re in the area with about 45 minutes to spare, take the tour… if for no other reason than the large scoop at the end!
