phone number listed is a cell phone without any way to leave a message. The vmail is full and I was instructed to hang up. Not a great first impression.

I have used Troy’s twice now and have not been disappointed. The owner, Bill, did both service calls. He charges $ 90 to come to the house and that includes includes ½ hour labor and diagnosis. Both of my problems were fixed in that ½ hour time. He seems like a good honest business man. And he’s fast! I would recommend them(and no, I am not a friend or family member — I found Troy’s via an internet search and took a chance).

Wow, I have had such great experience with this place for many years, but today when I called and asked if they could come out and look at the refrigerator that I bought from them last year, had to replace in February due to it quitting and spoiling all of the food inside, has once again quit and spoiled all of the food inside… I was told(and this is verbatim) «go fuck yourself, I am the owner». Too bad.

We went into Troy’s because when our tenant moved out we discovered the property’s washing machine no longer worked. We called Sears(where the washer was originally purchased) for tips on repair, but were endlessly put on hold and told a service person would have to come out($$), or we could purchase a new washer. Since the washer was nothing fancy, we thought we’d check out Troy’s, who knew, maybe we could purchase a replacement there for about the price of a used washer(we saw similarly priced ones on Craigslist, but had no means to schlep one home– we needed somewhere with delivery). However, once we got to Troy’s and told them our situation, the man behind the counter was very helpful. He diagnosed our problem from the description my husband gave, and had a replacement part on hand. He even took us back into the shop to show us how to install the new part and gave us some great tips(he was working on a similar washer back there), and told us we could likely do it ourselves(super plus, he directed us to a great online site with diagnostic and repair videos). The problem we thought might cost us the same as a new washer ended up costing only $ 20 in parts. We will happily return to Troy’s again should we ever have appliance problems in the future.

Worst experience I have ever had with a service company. Three trips out to the house to fix a dryer: the first time they said it just needed a new door. I told them there was also an intermittent electronic problem. He jiggled some wires and declared that fixed. The door arrived and he came back out to replace it. I said that the electronic problem had not been fixed by the prior wire-jiggling. He jiggled a different wire and declared it fixed. The third time I called, with the same electronic problem, they said they knew what part it was, and would order it and come back.(by this time the problem was no longer intermittent, and the dryer had stopped working completely.) two weeks later, they came back out with the part… I left the repairman alone with the dryer, when I came back he had good news and bad news — the bad news, it wasn’t the right part after all, the good news, he jiggled a different wire and declared the problem fixed once again. 5 minutes after he left, the dryer stopped working… and when I called on the phone, I was told that he refused to come back. She was rude to me on the phone, the repair man had been rude to me in the house, and their incompetence was evident by the fact that the dryer remained broken after three trips. The dryer was then replaced by the manufacturer
