Workers are nice. Store is well stocked. Bathrooms are kept up on although you can definitely tell this stores in the city, due to the lack of detailed cleaning. There is a Starbucks inside for those of you who enjoy such coffee. Parking lot is huge and always has parking but the parking is tight.

I was going to use this Safeway because of the convenient location. That is the only thing this store has going for it. The cashiers are in automatic low except when it comes to their breaks and conversations with their fellow employees. When asked a question you either get the blank stare or rude answers. I have gone in at different times of the day and have found dogs in the store. When I complained especially after seeing one of these animals pee on the merchandise in the baking aisle, I was told the manager will not enforce the rule. I Now go to the other local stores. For all the convenience of Safeway I cannot put up with rude unprofessional people and in the end come out with dog pee on my flour.

I’ll start off by saying I disagree with every negative review I just read. This store is not dirty, I’ve yet to see any dogs running loose in the store, and while it’s not in the best part of town it’s certainly not a dangerous part. We’ve been shopping here weekly since June and we’ve gotten to know this store, its management, and some of its staff very well. When our Port Orchard Safeway mutated into Haggen we set out to find a new Safeway because we didn’t want to lose their great Just For U program. It’s saved us a lot of money and makes Safeway cheaper than Fred Meyer and all the other local chains(except Winco). We checked out both the Callow Ave. and the McWilliams stores in Bremerton. Didn’t care for the latter since it seemed so carelessly managed. Prefer not to go into more details. At the Callow Ave., store we found people as friendly as at the old Safeway. We were made to feel welcome. We were told many Port Orchard shoppers are now shopping that store. The produce department is superior to that at the old SW. The meats are almost as good-looking but they still surpass what you find at Winco and what’s on the shelves at Fred Meyer. But just like at the old store we’ve found employees who provide outstanding customer service. Ken, the produce manager, is a standout. He has custom ordered stuff for me that he didn’t normally carry. There are a couple of butchers who have custom cut meat for me which was better than what I had seen on the shelves. We’ve found great grocery checkers and courtesy clerks. I’ve received personal calls from the store managers thanking me for my positive survey comments where I praised specific employees. The produce dept. and other area just went through a makeover. The both the department and the displayed produce are gorgeous; you won’t see better quality at any of the other chains. The Callow Ave. Safeway store is our new home. I wish it has a gas station but sometimes you can’t have everything. We don’t mind the drive to Bremerton since we go to Winco afterwards. If you live in Port Orchard and you haven’t settled on a new Safeway in which to use for Just For U discounts, I recommend this store. If you want to take advantage of the gas discounts you can drive up the road to the McWilliams store.

This grocery store is very expensive. It should be rated $$$ because if you plan on eating a meal it is going to cost $ 100. I think it would actually be cheaper to eat a McDonalds. Adding the the expensive roller coaster is the checkers who appear to be robots. I don’t know robot language so during checkout I just stood there in awkward silence as my purchase was being assembled. I probably won’t go back as there are other grocery stores I like better.

This Safeway is less like a grocery store, and more like a giant 7⁄11 in a kinda shady, kinda dirty part of town. You know the one, the one that you don’t really like going to, because the selection is picked over and not that good, the floor is sticky with… something, and the line is long for no real reason, and the person in front of you has that gross sweet smelling B.O. You know the 7⁄11 I’m talking about. Every town has one. This Safeway is like that, except it doesn’t have the self depreciating dignity to actually be a 7⁄11. It’s actually a grocery store. There’s tons of grocery stores within a few miles of every cardinal direction of this Safeway. Just go to those ones instead.

There were several dogs in the store when I was there. I complained to the cashier and she told me she wished they could do something about it but the manager just lets anyone with an animal in. I sent a complaint to the corporate website and they told me that they dont ask if animals are trained service animals because it is a violation of the rights of disabled persons. Apparently they are not concerned about violations of the law regarding NON service animals and food establishments. There ARE questions that they can ask. Turning a blind eye is a disservice to those of us who dont want to see pets in the store and to people who really do have service animals.

Love this grocery store. The butcher carved me some Korean Style BBQ ribs with no questions asked. Awesome service!!!

The store and employees are great. Nothing to complain about. I do here, but I try not to after dark. It’s in what looks like a bad part of town. If I have valuables in my car I don’t go here at all. The quality is good as with«Most» other Safeway Stores. I’m a fan of the Lucern coffee creamer and ice cream. If this store was in a better location I would give it 5 stars, so they are as good as it’s going to get once you get inside.

eh… *shrugs shoulder* this safeway is ok… only ok. i go here often, and it’s purely for convenience… it’s about a quarter mile from my job… i’m at my job a lot. they really don’t have that amazing of a selection, but i can work with it… the prices aren’t the best in town, but aren’t the worst by far. the staff is super friendly and know me well… we exchange small talk often and they are always helpful. it works… it’s just not my first choice… or second. but damn, it’s convenient.

I’ve never been a fan of this store. Not only is it in a bad area, but there is always a ton of people inside and outside with hoodlums hanging out in the parking lot as well… As far as prices, there are some good deals, but I’ve seen some things marked way up here in comparison to some other stores I’ve been to, for example the all natural fruit smoothies(odwalla, naked, etc). You pay a buck extra here versus QFC(which is surprising because I normally dub QFC«Quite F***in Costly». I’d also like to state that the quality of their produce is pitiful and the only dairy products they seem to really carry are all Lucerne. Which, I’ve had some gross stories as far as Lucerne goes… I won’t go there though. I stay far away from this store…
