I have a friend who loves going to the dentist. She looks forward to it, even. I admire that, but I know that’s not me. That being said, Dr. Gary Lewandowski and his staff make a visit to the dentist about as pleasant as I think it can be. When you enter, you’re immediately welcomed in, and the waiting area is warm and comfortable. Not that you’ll need to spend a lot of time there — my experience with Dr. Lewandowksi’s office is that it’s run tight and on schedule, and you won’t be kept waiting more than a few minutes. Back in the chair, the hygienists are friendly and adept. They have a great grasp of their profession, and at least one of them is a self-proclaimed«teeth geek.» Importantly, they also have a good sense of how and when to give advice without being preachy or pushy. Perhaps the best thing I can say about them is that when I leave, my teeth feel clean and fresh. The chairs might even give your back a massage, if you ask nicely. When it’s time for the tougher work on cavities or even root canals, Dr. Lewandowski has a light and laid-back demeanor, and his work is professional and efficient. He’ll check with you and see how you’re doing frequently, and you’re more than likely to hear a story or two about his kids along the way. He’s also really good about explaining what work needs to be done, and potential options. Most people, I think, aren’t like my friend. Most people are more like me, and don’t generally enjoy going to the dentist. Dr. Lewandowski and his staff go a long way to making it a mostly pleasant experience, and for me? That’s all I can really ask.

I saw Judy Carroll for my gum care, and am not able to report the result of her work yet. It takes time to see whether it works. I want to report on other areas. Billing: — I had to pay out of pocket first, and claim reimbursement from my insurance. It turned out that the reimbursement was a very tiny fraction of the bill, not even the amount stated by the clinic. So, mostly out of pocket. Be aware. — The office bookkeeper/manager(?) claimed that by signing the claim form as she had it(with white-outs, alterations, etc), the reimbursement would come to me — despite my voiced doubts. It didn’t. Later, she had to write a check in the mail to me for it. — The same bookkeeper/manager looked at me with disgust and contempt — after my treatment — numbed mouth with anesthesia in the entire mouth, and not aware that I was drooling with saliva without a tissue(bring lots of your own tissues and mirror!). She had to get me to sign documents and payments, etc; credit card already presented before treatment. Otherwise, she probably would not had bothered to deal with me. — The paperwork supplied to me was inadequate for my processing on my end. And, I had to contact them for it. Not sure who handled it. It was ok, but the fear of dealing with the disgust and contempt of that woman put me off.

Before meeting Dr. Lewandowski and Judy Carroll, I had 2 periodontal consults where each periodontist told me I needed Osseous surgery quickly as I was at high risk of losing my teeth. I live in California and began researching my condition and found this office. I am so thankful I did not have a local SF periodontist cut open my gums. The trip to Seattle and the visit with Judy and Dr. Lewandowski was so worth it. Thank you to you both!

Met with Dr. G and Judy Carrol. These two really care about their patients. High level of professinalism without being stand-offish or aloof. GAve me options and hope for a severe bone disease that I have. I live in California and will use Dr G and Judy for my dental care. It is so worth the time and expense. Thanks you Judy and Dr G for treating and giving me some hope and options OTHER than yanking my teeth out!!!
