It’s a typical Washington beach(not a whole lot of sand, but a lot of rock), but this place is amazingly beautiful and is so much to take the kids to run around in nature.

Nice place to get away and enjoy the Puget Sound. Need to purchase a discovery pass, which is good at all Washington State Parks.

Great place to come for a drive, take a short hike or even sit and gaze out into the water. Located in Bremerton, this place is definitely for the peeps that like the outdoors. Every time I’ve been here, it seemed as if it was mostly locals taking strolls with their dogs or the occasional runner passing you by. Everyone is friendly and they make sure to say hello in passing. The trails are well maintained and there are a variety of different routes avail. If walking along the water is what you’re into, they have some docks you can walk along or even some small sandy spots. Nice photo opportunities or just a place to bring a picnic lunch with friends or by yourself. Camping is also available, though I’ve never seen a whole lot of people partaking. Even during the summer times when I’ve visited, it’s never been super crowded, which probably appeals to those that are looking for a little isolation when spending the night outdoors. Parking is a little steep, so it makes more sense to buy a year pass if you plan on taking in some sightseeing around Washington State. I believe it’s called the Explorer Pass and it’s good for a year. After about three adventures or so, it pays for itself.

Illahee’s State Park is one of the most beautiful that I’ve seen in this area. It’s a uniquely large property with a camping ground, an uphill(or downhill!) hike, a war memorial, ocean and(if I remember right…) a grill. The trees are very large, and if you go on down to the beach when the tide is gone — you can see engravings on the rock walls from the ocean. There’s even a huge driftwood tree there too! I imagine Illahee to be wonderful to pick up seaglass and shells on a nice summer’s day. Everyone should go and see this treasure! The only draw backs are that you might get lost and that the road is a little steep on your way down to the ocean.
