I’m very disappointed in the overall quality and ethical standards of this shop. I took an antique bike I was bringing back to life to the shop to have a few parts removed. To take off the more intricate parts of a bike you require special bike tools which I do not have. So, I thought I’d save myself some time and take it to the local bike shop down the street instead of making the trek to Bainbridge Cycle(our usual go to.) I dropped the bike off and told Aaron(the owner) that I wanted it disassembled. He told me no problem and that it should be ready in a day or so and that he’d give me a ring. Great! I got the message that my bike was ready for pickup two days later and I hurried over to pick her up. When I got to the shop there was a woman painting inside and she informed me that Aaron had just left and that she could not help me but she would give him a call on his cell. No issue as I figured she wasn’t an employee and was hired for the painting job. But it’s still within operating hours and no one is in shop to help customers? So, I waited as the woman phoned Aaron and let him know that he had a customer waiting. She handed the phone to me and I spoke with Aaron over the phone letting him know I was, indeed, there to pick up my bike. He said he was right down the street and would be right over. 20 minutes later he walks in… He brings me my bike disassembled just as I’d asks and then tells me my grand total…$ 60!!! Yes, SIXTYDOLLARS for maybe 5 minutes worth of work. And I know this because I could have done the wok myself in five minutes with the proper tools. I was floored. I, honestly, did not expect to pay more than $ 20 and that was even a stretch. I know had I taken it into my usual bike shop they would have taken it apart without compensation just because that’s literally how laborious the job was. I’m not sure if he thought that because I was a woman with an old bike that I didn’t know my way around a bike shop or what. I get that you have to keep the lights on but not on the backs of your customers. I cannot support a shop that lacks integrity and operates with shady billing practices. I will not be returning. I would also like to comment on Aaron’s workmanship since my husband has taken his road bike for a tune up. The bike was not cleaned like with most places when you take your bike in for the works. The chain was not properly lubed and we ended up having to take it elsewhere within a week to have a PROPER tune up. Beware friends, I love the idea of supporting the local shops just as much as the next person but be cautious as to what kind of practices you are supporting.

I hear good things — from people whose judgement I trust — about Aaron as a bike mechanic, and about his eagerness to help people in a bind. And, I can actually say that thanks to Aaron I now live in a neighborhood with a bike shop! But unfortunately, in my only 2 dealings with him I’m left both times with serious concerns about his integrity. I went into Aaron’s shop to pick up a $ 25 blinky tail light for my cousin, who’s cash-strapped. My cousin asks Aaron, «How much for just a basic tune-up» and the answer we both clearly heard was«$ 25 + parts». Since we didn’t have my cousin’s bike with us, I asked if I could buy a gift certificate to cover that tune-up at a later date. And that’s what he rang up and what I paid for — $ 25 for the light, and $ 50 for the gift certificate/tune-up. That’s right, it was now $ 50 for the tune-up. We told Aaron we’d both *just* heard $ 25, but he insisted it was $ 50 and pointed to a sign above his head that neither of us had noticed(else why would we ask?). I paid since my goal was to help out my cousin and I didn’t want to embarrass him haggling over the price of my favor. Once it was clear I was interested in spending more than the $ 25 for the light, I felt that Aaron decided to jack the price just quoted for the tune-up, and dismiss any confusion as due to our poor hearing(«No, I said $ 50»), our poor eyesight(«See that sign there?») and our mutual lack of language comprehension. Prior to this, I had a similar but much more expensive encounter with Aaron when he worked for someone else at a different shop. I won’t share details here since this is primarily a review of Aaron & his shop, but that experience was resolved only when I had to pay someone else to fix something after only 30 minutes/9 miles of use. I’m open to the possibility that I’m just not a likeable customer, and so I may present as an easy mark from which to squeeze some extra cash. As I mentioned, I love the fact that Aaron opened a bike shop in my neighborhood, and I’d really like to see him succeed. I just can’t afford to give the guy any more business.

I have come here a few times and have always had great service from Aaron. He’s very knowledgeable and down to earth. I guess ditto what everybody else says below. He gave me a great deal on two new wheels(they were the wheels from a new bike where the owner had upgraded, he gave me a «used» price for practically new ones). His prices are very reasonable. Thanks!

Very convenient bike repair shop. The owner, Aaron, is very knowledgeable and easy to chat with. You can tell that he’s enthusiastic about bicycles. My tube got punctured with a giant piece of glass while commuting in Bremerton, but luckily I found Aaron and his bike repair shop. Got fixed up with enough time to ride to the ferry terminal and catch the boat back to Seattle.

Brought my wife’s 20+ year old bike in here for an overhaul and they did a bang up job for a VERY reasonable price. They are super friendly and helpful and beat the prices of bike parts anywhere else I’ve checked in town. If you have a bike that needs fixing or are in the market for new one definitely put the good folks at Bicycle Works on your«to see» list, you won’t be disappointed!

This little shop in Manette was really needed in the community of Bremerton. It got popular super-fast! It seems that every time I go there, it is full of bikes with fresh tune-ups, ready to go home to their owners. I’ve gone in there for general supplies. The owner is super nice — he’s not a bike snob, just a guy who is passionate about fixing and riding bikes. You’ll see every kind of bike in the shop. He does repairs and special orders. The shop usually has a couple of bikes in the window he’s selling for folks. Oh, and if you don’t like the shop already, it has an NES hooked up in the shop too.

After being away for two years, I was so happy to find that my neighborhood has a bike shop! No more worrying about where I should take my bikes to get their annual check-ups. Both my Schwinn Suburban and FP2 received much needed and excellent TLC from Aaron. I only wish I had more bikes he could tune because he did quality work at a very reasonable price.
