This little place is what many would describe as a hole in the wall. On the outside it appears to be a tiny little gas station located in a withering old Missouri town. But if you go inside with an empty stomach you’ll find out it’s a hell of a lot more than that. I’d eat there three meals a day if I lived anywhere near that little village. I’ve tried several things on my visits and I keep walking away with the same impression. Everything I’ve tasted is some of the best I have ever had of that particular variety. The loaded biscuits and gravy are supercharged with rich, flavorful, crispy, artery clogging, heart warming goodness. I have had a LOT of biscuits and gravy in my lifetime and I have never had any better than theirs. Same goes for the fried pork tenderloin sandwiches. I have yet to try them but they do have a taco tuesday there and apparently the locals approve because it’s always packed. There are several other lip smacking items on the menu that I have yet to try but my relatives that live in the area have had pretty much everything and no one seems to have anything but the highest praise to offer for anything they have eaten there. And the owners, Matt and Holly Gardner, are just super, hard working, friendly and down to Earth people that really genuinely go the extra mile to make sure their customers are happy. On top of all of that, it’s DIRTCHEAP! So much so that I actually leave feeling kind of guilty for paying so little. I’ve paid far more for meals not nearly as good. Home cooked food at McDonalds prices. Anyway, I love that little place. To the point of even occasionally finding myself pining for it when I haven’t been there in awhile. It’s a real little gem for sure. And when you compare it to what you’ll get elsewhere for the same price it absolutely warrants a five star rating in my book.
