First off I have to tell you that this museum doesn’t have a lot of actual Barney Ford artifacts(there aren’t surviving or next generation relatives or family friends to donate to the collection). The house itself has gone through many renovations over it’s long life as well. All that said Mr. Ford was the kind of person who deserves a special place of remembrance regardless of the execution. It’s sheer appreciation that can be gained here and that’s quite appropriate and worthwhile in my opinion. For those that don’t know about Mr. Ford, I suggest you do yourself a favor and learn about this important Coloradan. For those that are lazy, he was an escaped slave who made his way to Colorado and became a very successful businessman, politician and overall badass. This place is small, but packs a potent message and backs it all up with a good presentation. If your in town and love history like I do, stop in and learn about this great mans story.
