To me, it’s your usual lobster sandwich. It’s really flavorful and great texture. It’s sold at a steep price of $ 18. I was okay with the price and portion. Not worth it. I can see why tacos are popular here, there are big pieces of fish at a reasonable price. Chowder fries are good. I am a poutine person so this was a hit. Handcrafted sodas were great. They’re made with pure can sugar so I didn’t feel heavy or sluggish. I did have a sugar rush though. Clobster sandwich can be a pass. It has a fair amount of lobster but the amount of cheese was overpowering. Would I go again? No Parking is GREAT! Open lot. **** ONLYGOIFITISCONVENIENTTOYOU

This place is in a new plaza about 2 miles away from the 57 freeway. There is plenty of parking so no need to worry about this. My boyfriend and I came here during lunch on a Saturday so there was a bit of a wait and the place was definitely packed! After looking at the menu and what previous people, we decided to get the Cloister Grilled Cheese, Lobster Roll. We found out as we wanted to get Clam Chowder fries that you can upgrade your fries(which saved us a lot of money). After we purchased, we were lucky that we found a table since the place was packed and the workers were really kind — they saw us coming and quickly cleaned it up so we could sit. The wait for our food was faster than I expected considering the place was very packed. We got our food and it looked so good! The first thing we took a bite of was the Lobster Roll. The verdict — it was good! Worth the $ 18.50? Not so sure. I definitely enjoyed the Cloister Grilled Cheese ! And I highly suggest using the Red habanero sauce — definitely gave the spice I like ! The fries were pretty good, but I’m happy I had someone to share it with — a bit too heavy for me. Overall, the food was really good to me. I definitely will be coming back — I want to try their tacos and fish place. But the customer service made the experience a whole lot better !

Saw this restaurant driving by and thought of giving it a try. Service– decent! They opened few months ago so hard to judge since staff must still be in learning faze. Food– fish tacos grilled where fantastic! The sauce they are using is delicious. I would love to come back and try other menu item(s)!!!

I really enjoyed my visit very much. I had their main location bookmarked but this location was close by and happy that I did. The restaurant was very spacious, clean and with lots of outside lighting. I was super excited to try everything. The cashier was super friendly and the staff was amazing. They were super helpful even tho its a self serve place. They went around asking if everything was good and if you needed anything. Great service! The menu is small which I love. About 12 items on the menu. Very simple. I really wanted to try everything but it was an early lunch for us after a big breakfast, therefore can’t order everything with me and my skinny cousin. We everything to share. We got the CHOWDERFRIES with an added egg. OMGoodness! So delicious and the presentation looked amazing. The bacon went perfect with the chowder and the egg. We also ordered the Clobster Grilled Cheese Sandwich with a side of their chips. Both crab and lobsters mixed together, the best of both world grilled with cheese to make this amazing sandwich. The sauce they used for the sandwich was amazing, perfect seasoning. Also got a side of Fried Pickles. I LOVE fried pickles. Its so good, perfect crisp and its not over battered. Just perfect! Another amazing thing is, if you check in on Unilocal, you get a free CHOWDERTOAST! It’s a small portion like the fries but with toast. YUM! I can’t wait to come back to LA to eat this again.

Great prices for awesome seafood. I’ve had the shrimp roll, the simple grilled Mahi Mahi, and street tacos. All packed with flavor, include great sauces and run you around $ 15 or less. The Jersey sauce goes with everything, and I highly recommend ordering a side of it no matter what you get. Bonus: Just bite the bullet, ingest the sugar and spend the 3 bucks, buy a fountain soda. The artisanal sodas are delicious, just try them all. My personal favorite is the the Shirley Temple.

Delicious! but would only come occasionally since it is quite overpriced. I was surprised to find that a Slapfish(originally in Huntington Beach) opened recently in Brea! I got the Lobster roll… which was a fairly small portion for $ 18+. Thought it came with a side of fries, it was definitely not filling. The lobster roll was really tasty though.(very moist and had a lot of meat(thought it seemed like crawfish rather than lobster), and the buttery bun was toasted perfectly)

My friend called me to have lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We decided to head over here since it been on our top list to try. This place is located at a newly development in Brea. The parking wasn’t too bad. There are tons of parking in the plaza since some store haven’t opened yet. We decided to order a couple of things. We went with the lobster roll and colobster grilled cheese. Both of the order does come with fries, however, you are able to upgrade your fries to chowder fries for an additional charge. We decided to upgrade only one order to chowder fries. Lobster roll-this thing was overly delicious. I love crab over lobster but this was super good. My friend requested that the lobster come with no mayo at all and I think it made the lobster taste even better. You were able to taste the freshness and after dipping the lobster in some hot butter it was so good. Yum. Colobster grilled cheese-this baby had half crab and half lobster in a grill cheese sandwich. It kind of a seafood grilled cheese. It a great combo. My friend really enjoy this. I thought the lobster roll was much better. The chowder fries-fries was okay. The chowder I didn’t really enjoy. I think my friend thought there was something that tasted like tapioca in it and that texture turn me off on it. I’m still not sure what it was.
I love that they have tons of sauces options and their fountain drinks used pure cane sugar.

This place is just great. It’s really nice to go into a place that has less than 10 items on the menu. It just makes life simpler… Ordered the fish and chips, clobster grilled cheese, chowder fries and a couple PBRs(Pabst Blue Ribbon). Everything was fresh and delicious. The meals came with home made pickles which were so good. They are available for purchase on the side and really puts a light twist on all the greasy fried food. If I knew the pickles were that good I would have ordered a side of them also. This place is really neat; the fountain drinks are all craft sodas, and the dinning room is small but there is plenty of outdoor seating. Super friendly and welcoming staff, greeted us as we entered, were super nice when they dropped off our order and also thanked us when we left. Overall a great experience. We will definitely be coming back to try some other menu items because they all looked and sounded good. There are several Slapfish locations in the OC but we will go to this one because my in laws live a stones throw away from this place. Would like to see an oyster dish on the menu in the future! :) A+ from beginning to end!!!

Pricey, but yummy! I’m still debating whether it’s totally worth the $, but I enjoyed my experience enough to say sure for now! [+1] The lightly toasted and crispy roll with lobster inside was soooo good. I love food with light crunchy textures and the taste of the lobster was delicious and the scoop was generous! Mmm. I could totally daydream about this meal. [+1] The clam chowder was thick and flavorful with sprinkles of bacon on top. Mmmmmmm. So good! Not too salty with enough clam to actually make it a legit clam chowder! Definitely wasn’t watered down! [-1] Clam chowder fries were soooo good but I had to dock them because we weren’t offered the egg on top… had to tell them. And when my egg came it was broken. That ruins the point of an egg on top!:( [-1] I also don’t know if I’m a huge fan of the flimsy tiny metal trays they use for the seafood. It makes me feel like I’m eating out of a pet tray, hahah, which is weird since the price point is much higher than other more cheaper joints that use the same trays. [+1] Clobster sandwich on point which the cheese, slaw, and lobster. Buttered on the inside, bursting with flavor. MMMM!

Update: finally tried the lobster burger… AMAZING! My boyfriend doesn’t even like seafood and he scarfed his while I still had ¼ left and I thought I was scarfing mine down lol. The meat is quality so it can be cooked medium instead to retain its tenderness and the lobster on top was succulent. The melted cheese, grilled onions, and ripe tomato took the burger to another level. I’m not usually a tomato lover but it was so incredibly flavorful! The paprika on top of the bun was also so yummy! We finally tried the hot sauces. They were good but the food is so fresh and quality that honestly it stands alone — even without sauce it’s amazing. Update: came here again with my fiancé and the lobster roll was perfect less toasted and the ceviche was so fresh and flavorful! I can see why Slapfish was so crowded! It tastes much fresher than other seafood restaurants in the area. The servers were so nice! This will definitely be a regular date spot for us :) Original review: Lobster roll had large lumps of lobster and came on a buttery roll with paprika fries, lemon wedge, and pickle. It was one of the best lobster rolls I’ve had and despite the price was a better value than I’ve paid in LA. My fiend got the fish and chips and a clam chowder. Both were very good. The clam chowder had red potatoes and was very thick and satisfying. The people who came outside to check on us were so friendly! The seating area was clean. Keep up the good work!

Food was 3.5 stars but the service was spectacular so 4 starsssss Came here on a Tuesday night after shopping at Brea, and there was no wait! Parking was really easy– it was located in what looked like a really new plaza. There’s seating both indoor and outdoor(heaters are outside which the worker turned on for me). I got the Grilled Cheese clobster(comes w seasoned fries too), which is just a grilled cheese with lobster. I thought it was way too cheesy for my liking, so I feel like I would have much rather enjoyed just the regular lobster sandwich(I’m def getting that next time). The chowder fries were pretty good! Clam chowda on top of French fries… Bacon bits… YUM. Only thing I didn’t like about this order were the giant pieces of potatoes =[ I like my food bite sized haha the order did come with a fork to make it easier to eat. I came on a Tuesday, and there’s an all day special for 2 for $ 6 lobster taquitos(super crunchy and filled with lobster) and $ 2 petite fish tacos(choose to have it grilled or fried). They have a sauce bar(see picture) too! Pay first, and the workers will bring the food to you.

I don’t know about the 4 stars guys. I’m still feeling sticker shock from our first visit. $ 18.50 for a lobster roll is a little steep. .. and it was just okay. The menu said the lobster roll was tossed in hot butter but there was some sauce/liquid that made the toast soggy. The presentation made it seem like there were more lobster meat than there actually was and it wasn’t that flavorful. Perhaps we were supposed to season it to taste with so many sauce condiments offered. The Baja mahi sandwich came with rather thin slices of fish that was a little over cooked. And it was lost in the thick brioche buns. At $ 9.50, at least it was reasonably priced but I was unsatisfied. The fried fish that came with the fish & chips was a greasy and battery. If you strip away the batter, there isn’t that much fish. One piece is $ 9 and two for $ 12. The fries that came with all the meals were good, well seasoned. The clam chowder was thick and tasty. But of course it has bacon and everything tastes great with bacon. Overall, the concept of Slapfish is better than the actual experience.

Located in the new plaza where Whole Foods is! Street Taco($ 8) — grilled or crispy, 2 baja style tacos in a corn tortilla with cabbage, creamy lemon sauce, and avocado purée These tacos should not be 8 dollars! The pictures are deceiving because they’re actually pretty small. I wish there was more creamy lemon sauce, but the taco itself was pretty good. Ultimate Fish Taco($ 6.50) — grilled or crispy, cabbage, avocado purée, pickled onion Pretty big! But for 6 dollars, it better be a giant taco. Shrimp Roll($ 11) — grilled or crispy packed into a split-top butter roll, choose your sauce Their shrimp is battered very nicely. This entrée also comes with fries. I like their awesome sauce more than their fries. It reminded me cane sauce from Raising Cane, but cane sauce is way better. Check in for free lobster toast!

Since slave girl rejected me for lunch date, I decided to check out this newly opened Slapfish at Brea with a co-worker. Of course, as soon I told slave girl where I was going, I got a fuf(fork you fan) text. That’s OK, I didn’t cry. The parking was easy and I believe mainly was because whole food has not been opened yet. Once whole food is open, I think the parking will be challenging. Slapfish is a counter ordering service. You grab the menu(or read it on the board) when you walk in. Go up to the counter and order. Pay for it and look for a table to sit. Be sure to grab napkins and sauces(3 kinds of slapfish’s own hot sauces!) on your way to the table if you are by yourself, or your seat may get jacked. Free water cup is by the fountain drinks and with cup that small, you better get two to reduce walking time. They also have lemon sliced by the cup, that’s a nice touch. I got lobster roll and a free chowder toast per Unilocal check in. This is not my first time having the lobster roll and I still enjoyed it fully with chunks of lobster meat and butter toasted bread. It came with fries and a half pickle. Although the size of the roll doesn’t reflect to $ 18 an order, I still devoured the crap out of that roll. The chowder toast was a bit disappointing. I want to think it’s clam chowder but all I could taste was bacon and potatoes. There was no trace of clams… but then again, why am I complaining about the freebie? Greedy Fan… Most likely I would go back again to try the burger and more, but that price on their menu is going to limit my returning trips.

Slap me, I think I’m dreaming~~ ohhhh my goodness. The first time I came here, the food was great! The second time… AMAZING! — - s e r v i c e — - Alright, so the first time I came, my fries came out before the rest of my order. So the second time, I asked for everything to come out at once. I know weird… but I’m gonna be honest… it was for the pictures. Gotta have everything look fresh all at the same time. When I asked for everything to come out at once I did not expect the whole staff to bring out each dish. Literally EVERYSINGLEDISH was brought out by a different staff member. I swear. There was a rush of servers coming to my table all at once. I WISH I could have caught that on camera. I loved it! So shout out to the staff! You guys are amazing. Also they truly are great and courteous. They checked up on us and helped clear our table both times I was there. — - f o o d — - Chowder Toast: FREE with check-in! Yummy! It’s literally what the name says. Their bread has a sweetness to it which is a perfect pair with the chowder. This is the same toast in their sandwiches as well! Chowder Fries($ 6.50): Thick fries with clam chowder and bacon sprinkled on top. So I highly recommended sharing this and eat it right away. It tastes SOOO much better warm. Also the fries get soggy and no one likes soggy fries. But yum! Lobster Roll($ 18.50): Yes, it’s pricey. But look just look at it! It’s perfection. FILLEDDDDD with lobster. They are definitely not stingy so you get your money’s worth. Feel free to stare, drool, and dream about this, don’t worry pictures are included(also, I’m doing the same as I write this review). It’s as good as it looks. And once again, they use the same sweet bread which is toasted to perfection. Mouthwatering good! HIGHLYRECOMMEND! Shrimp Roll($ 11): Between this and the lobster roll… I would have to go with the lobster roll, BUT this was also delicious! Per usual, great portions of shrimp. Jumbo shrimps if I may add. So you have the option of grilled or crispy. Before I could even finish asking for the cashier’s opinion, I was told CRISPY. I personally preferred having that spritz of lemon on top but WOW the shrimp was juicy, the batter was crisp, the sauce was a great complement, the everything was wow. Surf n Turf Lobster Burger($ 15): This was bigger than I expected… but clearly they’re very gracious with their portions for everything. Alright, so this didn’t come with as much lobster as I expected. But I mean there was already a lot going on in that burger. The patty is so juicy so those random bites with lobster are like bonus bites. Clobster Grilled Cheese($ 15): I love lobster. I love grilled cheese. I love the clobster grilled cheese. Simple math. The sauce this comes with is delicious! It has a hint of a spice(very mild) at the end. They also have cabbage in the grilled cheese which is different, but I like! Major Crunchy Fish Sandwich($ 7.50): Although this would have to be my least favorite, it was still good. Big piece of fish. V crispy. Yum. Just nothing all that special and exciting. That’s just my opinion. But it was good and well worth it’s price! Well if you’ve made it through this review… kudos to you. I know I wrote a mouthful. If only I had a mouthful of the lobster roll right now… but overall, in case you couldn’t tell… I recommend Slapfish & I can’t wait to come back!

I’ve been here a bunch of times now since they opened in Brea! Pretty much tried everything on their menu, but so far, my favorite are their daily fish plates. I’ve tried all of them except the shrimp. Honestly though, it doesn’t really matter which one you order, they’re all really good. My favorite is the mahi so far, and it comes with salad and rice. The salmon is more tender than the rest if you like that. Everything tastes really fresh! The only thing I probably wouldn’t order again is their shrimp civiche. I didn’t care for the shrimp, it was tasteless. The place gets pretty packed, try and go before rush hours and grab a seat! I also don’t like that they try and come to clear your tables numerous times while you’re still eating. I get that they’re trying to get people in and out… but what do you expect when the food is great? Hopefully(for my sake, because I’m selfish), the place will die down a little and I can sit and enjoy my meal instead of feeling rushed. XD

Tonight my son was craving something fishy so after Unilocaling we ended up at Slapfish, slapping our bellies with deliciousness! Place is located in what appears to be a new plaza in Brea. The place isn’t too big with some inside seating and outside seating. They had heat lamps for the outside tables. Upon waking in they have some cool wooden handheld menus to look at. I like how their menu has just the right amount of options and you don’t get overwhelmed deciding what to order. There is a menu above the register too but after looking at the wooden one we knew exactly what we wanted. Once you place your order they give you a number and the food is brought out to you as its ready. There is an area where they have different bottles of hot sauces such as Tabasco, cholula, Tapatio, ketchup and some of their own brand hot sauces. You can grab the bottles you want and place them on your table. I liked one of their own which was green and had garlic. As for the food I loved everything we ordered. The New England clam chowder had pieces of potato and was topped with bacon. It was delicious and creamy. The shrimp ceviche was seasoned perfect with lemon and comes with paprika seasoned tortilla chips which were a perfect combo. As for my grilled fish tacos I absolutely loved the lemon sauce and avocado purée that was on it. We also had the Clobster grilled cheese which was perfectly grilled and toasted stuffed with cheese and lobster. There were bottled soda drinks, beers, fountain drinks and water with crushed ice and lemon bits. Food came out hot and quickly. I’m sure we will be returning to try other sandwiches and goodies!

Slap your husband? — That’s spousal abuse! Slap your hip? — That’s an interesting dance move… maybe! Slap fish? — Now that’s just delicious! Slapfish is a great addition to Brea’s faster food options! We came in a few weeks ago and ordered a shrimp ceviche, a baja mahi sandwich, a lobster roll, salad and veggies. Let’s just say we got slapped with a bunch of food and a whole lot of flavor :) I would probably skip the ceviche next time as it was good but not amazing. The chips it came with were a little hard for my taste and the marinade didn’t really knock my socks off. I loved my baja mahi sandwich though which was a generous piece of fish on a brioche bun with salsa, avocado, cabbage, tomato and arugula. With some mustard I really enjoyed it and it felt clean(except for the bread but even that felt healthy). What really made me swoon were the side of vegetables; these are grown locally and change based on what is fresh. They tasted fantastic and so reasonable at only $ 5. We will definitely be back! Always a solid visit when you come to a Slapfish! This location is new to North OC, but I’ve been a Slapfish fan back when they were a food truck parked out at the SoCo Farmer’s Market. I’m still dreaming of their crab, brie, and green apple panini that they came up for the Farm to Truck Challenge a few years back(hint hint, add it to the menu because I would eat it all day every day!) I came here after helping a friend of mine try on some wedding dresses. I opted for the Grilled Clobster Roll — which is essentially a crab and lobster grilled cheese sandwich. For a Unilocal check-in, I also got a serving of Chowder Toast which is exactly what it sounds like — a piece of toast smothered in chowder. Slapfish’s clam chowder can be considered quite thick, so having it smothering a piece of toast like gravy was, well, gravy baby! I really enjoyed this small, free bite from Slapfish(they previously offered up lobster toast at another location). My Grilled Clobster was delicious — I would only say that the bread wasn’t as toasty as I would have preferred for a grilled cheese sandwich. Also, my bad for not realizing that the sandwich was also served with a side of french fries — that’s a lot of carbs on carbs and I would have liked to swap them out(but I also was too hungry to really pay attention.) Parking seems weird in this lot, but it’s a brand new space with lots of construction still happening around. The new Whole Foods hasn’t opened yet so I know this Slapfish will become a happening spot — and then you can work out at the nearby Orange Theory or CorePower Yoga to work off some of those lobster rolls that you develop from eating here. Definitely coming back — though I may stick to some of the other locations rather than this one. Good to know this one is here though!

We came here for lunch today and really liked it! I was super excited to try their lobster roll. We got here right after opening and it wasn’t busy but by the time we left it was getting packed. Lots of parking, but the center isn’t totally open yet, so I do see parking becoming an issue in the future. Lobster Roll — Good! But I wouldn’t get it again. Too much bread, super messy to eat. I ended up abandoning the bread and just eating the lobster. Fries were good, loved the sauces we got, Awesome & Jersey. Awesome was spicy & delicious, Jersey was amazing, super lemony and creamy. Lobster Grilled Cheese — My husband got this and it was DELICIOUS. I would order this in the future! Really cheesy and gooey with big chunks of lobster. Chowder Toast — Free with Unilocal check in. I have NEVER liked clam chowder, but I liked this a lot! A decent sized piece of toast smothered in clam chowder and bacon. One of the best freebies I have gotten from a Unilocal check in! Everything on their menu sounds great. I know we will be back for sure. Lunch was pricey at $ 40 for the two meals and one root beer. Other items on the menu are cheaper, and I know we will be trying them.
