Hair By Vanessa Long at The Grand

I have been telling people «look at my hair! Look at my hair!» nearly all day. To friends and family, but that’s besides the point. So I haven’t been to a salon in a long long time, I’m talking more than 10 years. I’ve had a horrible experience, and never went back. However due to recent events, I needed to treat myself to something nice. So why not a cut and color!
I’ve explained my situation to Vanessa, also stating that I’m a bit nervous since I’ve never colored my hair before. She was extremely understanding, and walked me through which color would work best with my skin tone. The initial thought was a light balayage. After going through my usual hair routine, we decided to go a bit darker. I’m SO glad I went that route. I LOVE my hair. I will be back in a few months!

Vanessa is great! Ive gone to her about 4 times. The first time i went to her it was to get some highlights corrected and she made my hair look amazing and lighter! I’m usually going back and forth with blonde and dark brown but it usually because I get tired of the highlights. Well this is the longest I’ve had light hair and Vanessa always gives me what I’m looking for, usually JLO is what I ask for. Lol
I look forward to my roots growing out because I love how fresh hair feels and looks.

I’ve gotten my hair done by Vanessa 4 times now over the past year and will continue to go back. She really makes sure to take the time to understand what you are wanting in terms of color, cut, and styling. I’ve actually gone in the past few times unsure of what exactly I was looking for, but she’s always been great at making suggestions and at making my hair look good! She and her assistant are also very easy to talk to, plus her pricing is quite reasonable.

Vanessa is really awesome! I’ve been looking for a hairstylist that would really fit my preferences and I found her! She’s so bubbly that even if it took 3 – 4 hours to get my hair done, I never got bored. From now on, she is the only stylist I entrust my hair with.

She and her assistant are amazing. Both are sweet and kind, and did a great job fixing my hair.

Vanessa is amazing! I got balayage and it looks extremely natural, which was exactly what I wanted. She really takes the time to understand what you want and gets it done perfectly. I highly recommend going and seeing her soon if you’re looking for any type of color put into your hair.

I’ve been wanting to switch up my look for summer with some subtle balayage highlights. After struggling to book an appointment with another stylist in Brea (who was booked until August), I found Vanessa on Unilocal.She was very accommodating and was able to fit me in a week after I contacted her. She was able to give me exactly the look I wanted (very soft and subtle balayage) and her pricing was considerably less expensive than the other stylist I was trying to book with, which is a huge plus. She also gave me some great tips on how to style my hair (I’m super low maintenance and have no idea what I’m doing half the time). I was very satisfied with the level of service, and I LOVE my hair! I absolutely love my hair. I am in love.
Vanessa definitely knows what she is doing. Her work speaks for itself. She is super nice too, so down to earth. If you are unsure what to do with your hair, she will give you helpful tips to help you make a good decision. With her, you definitely get your money’s worth.
I would recommend her at any time.

I love Vanessa — very friendly, funny and most importantly cuts great and fast plus she always remembers when you «like last time» (not sure how she does it.). In general, she has an amazing memory, so be careful what stories you tell her, she will pick up on them next time you come. Elephant Brain :)
At the Grand, they are not pushy at all and don’t try to sell you all kinds of stuff. All staff there seem very friendly. It is a happening place but still you get your appt in no time. Highly recommend!

Where do i even begin? I decided to change stylists since my old one didn’t seem to impress me at all so i did some hunting and came upon vanessa and i have never been happier! My overall experience here was amazing, i got my ombré, cut, and style all for 215 $! Where can you find such good quality for such a good price? I was really hesitant on what i wanted but she made sure i was a happy camper before i left. Throughout the process she would always reassure me on the color i wanted and to my surprise i trusted her 100% with my hair and came out 110% satisfied! Her assistant was also amazing! Would i recommend vanessa? OF COURSE!

Hi everyone!
I chased down a girl at my school who had AMAZING hair to ask where she got it done. She told me it was Vanessa Long at the Grand, got her number, and I booked an appointment ten minutes later. I went to Vanessa last Friday for a balayage/​ombré appointment.
I was apprehensive to get my hair dyed again because I had a bad experience with a different hairstylist in the past, but I went for it with Vanessa and I could NOT BE HAPPIER. She took one look at the picture I showed her and now my hair looks exactly like the picture!
So friendly, awesome assistant, amazing at explaining the process and the techniques she has learned, done in a timely manner, and awesome tip/​tricks to take home and use myself for how to do my own hair. AMAZING PRICE, TOO!
It was the best salon experience I have ever had, and I have been to MANY salons in the OC.
I will definitley be back at The Grand to see Vanessa again!

It had been a really long time since I got a haircut! My hair was very long and I wanted a trim and to add more layers and texture to make my hair look more interesting while still maintaining its length. Vanessa did just that! She cut off only exactly how much she showed me she’d cut off. Which I’m very happy about because I’ve had many bad experiences when a hairdresser got scissor happy and cut off way too much length. Vanessa was very careful and I absolutely love my hair! She also talked to me while she cut and styled my hair which I loved. She’s very friendly and really went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable and that I was happy with the result! I’ll definitely be coming back to her :)

I had not gotten a professional hair cut since BEFORE my now 4 year old was conceived! I have LONG hair (usually to my waist/​butt). Trying to find someone I can trust cutting it has always been a struggle! But let me tell you, from our first consultation, Vanessa listened to my fears and my desire to keep as much of my length as possible. She provided suggestions and really understood what I wanted to achieve!
Sitting in her chair was almost therapeutic! She one of those people who can just turn your whole day around just by her calm soothing energy! I swear I went in for a hair cut and came out feeling relaxed!
And when it was all done, let me tell you, I felt like a million bucks! I felt younger. My hair felt healthy (I also got a deep conditioning treatment!). My confidence definitely got a boost thanks to the lovely Vanessa!!! I posted an after picture on my FB/​IG and I received more likes and compliments then I have in a very long time!
I cannot wait for my next session!!! :)

Vanessa Long should be THE ONLY ONE TO TOUCH YOUR HAIR! It had been over a decade since I had been to a salon. My two daughters had never gone to one. We were amazed and extremely impressed with Vanessa and Chelsea’s superior customer service skills and wonderfully happy with the transformation she gave us. My hair is very long and thick. The weight of it gave me headaches. It was also very hard to style. Both my daughters’ hair also is long, thick and curly. Vanessa took her time and really focused on getting a true idea of what each of us was looking for, and what was important to us. She explained in detail her thoughts and why she made specific suggestions to help us understand the different needs of each type of hair. The 3 hour experience felt like an hour. Vanessa and Chelsea made us feel at home and laugh the entire time.
The one thing she did not know is what my youngest daughter had been enduring and what our family has been enduring. She gave us ONE DAY of true bliss and brought the brightest smiles out from my daughters. That is priceless to me.

Vanessa should be everyone’s go-​to stylist!!! I get so many compliments on my hair, always. Even when I’ve dragged my color out past what I should, at least three times a week I have customers telling me how much they love my color and style: D I’ve never been disappointed and my hair always comes out even better than I imagine. She definitely knows her stuff and she’s super friendly and personable. Two thumbs wayyy up!

I’ve been coming to Vanessa Long on and off for a couple years now. I cheated on her with another stylist close to home, biggest mistake ever! I have super curly hair and the dye job was awful, she fixed everything and made my hair gorgeous again.
She’s so good at cutting hair, but I really love the ombré she did recently! I get a ton of compliments on the color and she really knows her stuff. I have had no other stylist cut my hair EXACTLY how I want, ever! Yet, it’s like she can see into my mind and does it right everytime!
LOVE LOVE LOVE her, she’s good at what she does and is so comfortable to be around. Not at all pretentious and always fun and perky! PS her assistant Chelsea is a master with the blow dryer, she blew my curly hair smooth and voluminous! No flat iron needed!

I have been going to Vanessa for over a year now and she is fantastic. Specifically, I love that she:
1. always tries her best to fit me in on short notice
2. knows that I am low maintenance and gives me the best color options (doesn’t try to convince me of other $$$ or high maintenance styles
3. takes her time on hair cuts
4. doesn’t make you feel bad if you are on a budget, gives you great options and advice.
Between being picky about my hair and being on a budget, it can be hard to find a good hair stylist that will give you their best, Vanessa is that person!

I compete in scholarship pageants. I have been seeing Vanessa for about 4 years now. I have won best hair 3 times during that time. Usually it goes to girls with full thick long hair. Well I have thin short hair so if that’s not telling you how great she is idk what will convince you.
She is the only one I have found that does a magnificent job working with fine hair. Every time I go in I give her complete control. I tell her what I am looking for and she gives recommendations with traditional and even what’s popular right now. She takes a lot of classes. (Love that!)
Additionally I am a college student so always on a tight budget. She is more expensive than other hair stylists but you get what you pay for and she is that great so I just have to see her. But to cut down the cost I rotate between her and dying myself every other month. I love how open she is to that. I’ve seen other hair dressers yell at there clients for that. She not judge mental at all and tells me just call me if it comes out crazy and you need me to fix it.
I just can go on and on why she is great but check her out yourself.
P. s. Her and her assistant Chelsea give the BEST neck rubs after a wash!

I contacted Vanessa Long asking for hair extension rates for my upcoming wedding. After talking to me and determining that I really only need hair extensions for ONE day, she recommended that I purchase clip-​on hair extensions to save money. She even recommended the beauty supply store to purchase them for a good price!
I’m so thankful for honest stylists like Vanessa. She could have totally charged me ALOT of money for the hair extensions and 6 months of maintenance, but she understood my needs and intentions.
Who doesn’t want an honest and reliable stylist who cares about her clients?
I am buying my clip-​ons, but will be making a pit stop at The Grand for a quick trim, and a little help from my favorite stylist — so she can show me how to clip-​on my extensions.
