Your classic Mongolian BBQ! Staff was extremely quick despite the long line, they got through all of the customers efficiently. There is a fantastic selection to choose from, the only downside is the absence of tofu!:(Other than that, they had all the veggies your heart could desire. If you’re in the mood for Mongolian, this is the place to be!

This is my favorite food choice here in Brea mall. It really hits the spot. There’s been so many food places that have come and gone, but this place simply remains for the fact that the food is really good. You pay first, then they give you a bowl to put your ingredients in. Beef & pork is what I always get. Then add mushrooms, bean sprouts and pineapples. I love spicy food so I make sure they add a good kick to it along with their garlic sweet sauce. They’ll stir fry it up in front of you then in a to go container it goes. The smell just hits you once they hand you the container. I like to top it off with sesame seeds as well. You can’t just go to your local Chinese wok and ask for chow mein, it’s just not the same. The thickness of the noodles and how it’s not so sticky is what I love the most. Then the flavor kicks in and I don’t what happens, but it’s all gone before I know it. The spices and sauces are never overpowering. It compliments each other well. If you love noodles, you have to try this place! You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been coming here for years and the food is usually good but the most annoying part is the workers who try to add extra noodles for tip. I understand that they desperately want the 1 $ but sometimes adding an excess of noodles ruins the balance of the meal. Most of the time, the cashiers don’t provide the best service and display an obvious ambivalence towards you.

Well worth the long lines this place tends to have. The food is delicious and the service is great! We’ve never had a bad experience with this place. Tip the gentlemen towards the end, and they give you extra noodles! :-)

Good food, but be aware that the line can get VERY long on the weekends. I try to stay way from this place on friday, saturday and sunday. I noticed that the people cooking the noodles on the teppan grill tend to give you extra noodles if you’re a girl. I mean, it’s a nice gesture but a little odd. The food is good though if you come during the off times/days and it’s always one of my first choices when I come to the mall for food. Better than great khans and is always clean at the stations. Just wish I knew what sauces they had so I knew what was going in my dish. The sauce station isn’t labled like Great Khans

One star because the guys cooking the food are super polite… but minus 4 stars because the cashier needs improvement. So, I came here last week. I ordered a bowl and handed the girl my card to pay. She takes my card and gestures to the card terminal machine and says to me «I’m going to slide it, but its been having problems so hopefully it goes through.» I tell her that’s fine, and I’m cool with it(I’m not in a hurry and I’ve worked with these machines so I know sometimes they take awhile)…but then she says: «Yeah, sorry it’s just been running really slow tonight. It’s being retarded.» I’m not always politically correct, and people are free to say whatever vocabulary they want… but, in customer service there has to be a line on what is and is not appropriate to say to guests. I get that people say that word all the time. Unfortunately. But as somebody who works with people who have disabilities for a living, I’m annoyed when I hear that word used in that context. No, I don’t know her. No, she doesn’t know me or what my job field is. But again, in customer service, there should be some training done in order to prevent cashiers from saying such remarks.

Since I’ve been coming to this place for 10 years, and will continue to come, that probably means this place deserves 5-star in my book. But I do have some comments. First, I don’t need to describe what it is. Everyone has described it in detail. But at regular lunch and dinner time, the line is always long. The long line used to block the eatery to the left of it, but for few years now they have this rope separating it. So yes, you would have to wait, and people generally move slow thru the lines, and especially slow if they clean the grill. Long time ago(maybe 5 – 10 years ago), the single-bowl price was $ 7.99, and they had a combo deal(with rice, soda, soup) for $ 1 more. Recent years, right before the renovation, the single-bowl price was $ 8.99, and combo was $ 9.99. I thought the combo deal, for $ 1 more, was pretty good deal. But now after the renovation, they increase the single-bowl price to $ 9.99 and got rid of combo deal. You’d have to pay separate for them. Just like everything else, their prices have gone up too. I recall before, when they cook, they will automatically grab more noodles, regardless if you tip of not. So they perform first, then some people tip. Now, most of them don’t automatically grab more noodles. If you ask, they will give you. Certainly, if you tip(and show them you are tipping) they will add more noodles. So basically, its $ 1 more for more noodles. One of the best thing here is the taste. I’ve been to many Mongolian BBQ places, and this place has a very good taste. For those who say there’s not enough taste to it, just tell them to add more sauces. Also, I have gotten some sauces afterwards to add in, still tastes good. Yes, they take the bowl and add sauces for you(probably because some sauces are far from the counter line) and add noodles, then they give you back the bowl. Reason they don’t take it directly to cooking is the curved counter line is on the outside, so you’d have to carry the bowl and follow the line. Even though their prices have gone up, I will still come here, though with their price increase they are getting closer to the AYCE Mongolian BBQ places. BTW if you like Mongolian BBQ, there is a place called Big Wok in Manhattan Beach, I also highly recommend it.

I was a frequent customer at gengis khan before its renovation. The food and service was usually good. Their past employees were hard working and friendly. Sadly, this is not the case anymore. I came here for a quick lunch and there was a line. The lady behind the counter seemed nice but looked exhausted. I guess she was too busy with customers. I topped off my empty bowl with beef, turkey, bean sprouts, green onions, carrots and mushrooms. My bowl looked very full since the frozen meat took a lot of room of the small bowl. Then I reached to the end of the food counter and was about to put some oil to my bowl. I usually have a choice to season my Mongolian plate. But this time, a cook guy didn’t say a word me. He instead waved his finger signaling me to stop putting the oil into my bowl. I was like … Wow. So I asked him back«are you going to do it for me?» He nodded his head and turned away. Wow, I was speechless! After 2,3 minutes, he came to season the food and overtop my bowl with noodle. The funny thing was the guy gave me back the bowl, asked me to go to the other side of the counter and retook the bowl to cook the food. I was thinking to myself«why didn’t you just cook the food after overtop it with noodle?» As the result of giving back the bowl to me, the noodle and other veggies slid out and was all over the red plate. A really unprofessional and inexperienced cook! I’m really unhappy with the customer service here. The food is still good but I’ll be very skeptical about coming back.

Gengis Khan is a build your own bowl, fast food, Asian stir-fry concept. Located at the food court in the Brea Mall. My daughter loves this place and doesn’t mind waiting in line whenever we come here. Once you’ve reached the start of the food line, you add your choice of chicken, beef, pork or turkey meat to your bowl. Then you pile on the fresh veggies of cabbage, carrots, onions, mushrooms, zucchini and more. Now you’re topped off with thick chow mein noodles. Hand your bowl over to the cook and it’s stir fried on a large circular grill, oils and sauces are added if desired. It’s great to watch your meal cooked right in front of you. Within minutes you’re enjoying a hot delicious meal for $ 10, you can’t go wrong!

Pleasantly surprised. Upon first blush, the familiar thick chow mein noodles, drab brown color of soy sauce drenched mixed colors might thrown you off… because it did for me. I decided to try it anyway and glad I did. First, you can put as much beef, chicken, pork, or turkey as you want. Second, there are no shortage of fresh and tasty veggie choices from cilantro, cabbage, carrots, green onions, mushrooms, zucchini, and more. Then, you have maybe 8 sauces. I chose spicy chili paste, garlic, and a bit of sweet. They thrown it on the grill hot and steaming, some sauté and you’ve got yoursef a freshly cooked to order completely custom stir fry. Delicious. Definitely great alternative to the usual.

Something about standing in line for 30 minutes to pick off meats, then veggies, then oils and sauces, just to watch it be cooked on a circular stone grill… doesn’t sound all that great, but looks can be deceiving! All the other restaurants in the food court seems deprived compared to this place. There’s often a line, its up to you to pile on as much food as possible onto your bowl, tip the grill cook $ 1 and get extra noodles. It’s very systematic, but you’ll enjoy the end results. It’s enough to supply you for lunch and dinner. And for the taste, you’ll be pleasantly surprised that its pretty good. For there to be a long line, it says something about its popularity. So, if you’re at the mall, this might be the best option. Enjoy!

[[It seems the ownership has changed. Maybe not.]] The place looks spanking new and clean now due to renovation, but that’s the only positive thing I can say about them now. I came here twice this year(second time hoping it would be different and better), but they definitely lost their magic. I came here ever since I was little and the people there were kind, hard working, and great at what they did. I don’t see them anymore! The new employees need a lot of practice. The noodles don’t stay on top, and NO I didn’t over flow it with meat and veggies(not just mine, the whole line behind and in front of me). The men at the griddle station aren’t consistent with heating each order. The griller took 2 rounds to warm my plate up and handed me my plate. There were 2 food inspectors who were checking everything the first time I visited. They didn’t seem satisfied with what they were seeing. The second time I visited, which was last week, I got the same crappy and unsanitary service. The noodles fell onto the tray AGAIN. And the other plates around me had heaps of noodles on the trays as well. One of the employees actually picked the fallen noodles off my tray and slapped it on the griddle because I refused to pick it up from the tray. I was so shocked I just stared at him, so my brother asked for new noodles because that was and still is just plain nasty. And may I add, the griddle was caked with burnt food, and smoke was just clouding the area. They didn’t clean the damn thing even after I walked around the mall for 2 hours! GROSS! In the past, the grillers actually took the time to clean the griddle EVEN when there was a huge line. Better for the customers and better for them too. And it just shows that they care what we eat!!! I’m sorry, but I’m not eating there again. I will probably crave it here and there, but it is not worth my time and money. If it’s not pleasing to my eyes, I don’t want it. I actually took sanitation classes so it’s even more disgusting to see their dirty work ethics in action. ***For the future of that place, I really hope they change. If you hire new employees, train them. It’s not hard to train someone. It’s not good to chase away loyal customers either. You just lost one.

I love Mongolian BBQ omg. This location is pretty decent ! 3 stars because the cooks were really friendly and they give extra noodles if you ask for no extra charge but I felt like the noodles lacked a little flavor compared to other locations and the price is a dollar more than other places I’ve tried but still I think it’s worth it !

If there could be a Mongolian BBQ restaurant on every corner, I’d be a happy camper, but alas, these are a diamond in the rough reserved mostly for mall food courts. So, here I am. It’s not my first time here. They always everything squeaky clean – with one exception: THEGRILL. It’s the heart and soul of the whole place and there is so serious crusting on it. It gets to the point where flakes if it break off into your food. I get squeaked out about, it’s kind of a pet peeve. The food still tastes great, but just the thought of it was a little off-putting. But I can never say no to a little Mongolian BBQ.

My guilty pleasure! I get a craving for this place about once a month or so and its always fantastic. I usually do the beef and a little spicy with whatever veggies I’m interested at the moment. The portions are large enough that the left overs last me at least one extra meal of not two! First timers should note that once you add veggies they do the rest. I made the silly mistake of adding my own noodles before realizing my mistake when I saw the person after me wait. She got twice the amount I was able to fit when the cooks did it for her. I didn’t know and was punished with less noodles :(never again!

First off, I love noodles. This place has EXCELLENT noodles. I would suggest getting the combo. It comes with a drink, rice, and soup for only a buck or 2 more than just the noodle bowl. People like to use the napkin you get to push down the meat but I like to use the meat to build an inner wall around the bowl and then get all my veggies in. After I’m done with that, I get everything(the garlic, soy sauce?, and lemon juice) extra spicy and ask for extra noodles, obviously. I usually tip $ 1 when I get extra noodles and when I have cash with me. This definitely isn’t a healthy choice for a meal but ohmygosh… I don’t care hahah. I love this place. Keep in mind this is enough for me and my mom to finish and be full… we don’t eat the rice.

As good as Mongolian BBQ gets. Still remember the highschool days when i’d drive with one of my Tennis buddies after 5th period during off season. That was more than 10 years ago… and i’m still coming here. Portions are huge & are meant to be shared; if you tip them, they’ll give you more noodles! We shared a plate and i’d lick my plate clean. I kid you not, it’s THAT good. What food court station makes you crave their food? Gengis Khan, you never cease to amaze me. Tip: mix sriracha sauce with your noodles. Warning: line is always long for this place.

I’ve been coming here with my mom and brother since I was a kid! There’s always a line, but definitely worth it. It’s $ 9.99 for the combo, which comes with the noodle bowl, soup, rice, and a drink. I usually have Mongolian noodles whenever I’m at a mall food court, and the one here at Brea is the best. If you want more noodles, ask them while they’re grilling your food and they’ll throw some in(extra for those who tip).

My favorite Mongolian BBQ place whose quality has considerably gone down while their prices has considerably gone up. Makes me le sad. I still come back though. If you want a drink, I think it’s a smarter option to get the combo since you’ll get soup + rice with it, which is great since they give you less noodles nowadays. The employees always look like they hate life. If you tip them where they can see and ask for more noodles, they’ll toss some more on for you. I always share when I come here. Don’t expect friendliness or perfection from their food. Since they’re grilling two at once, sometimes, you get some of the other person’s items or you’ll lose a meat or veggie to the other. Definitely sprinkle some sesame seeds on at the end!
