Shoji Tabuchi Theatre

This was disappointing. The daughter is trying to keep this ailing show together. It just doesn’t work. Waste of money. Mostly singing with untalented singers. It was sad. It used to be really good, 20 years ago.

Saw the show back in the 90’s. That must have been the heyday! We enjoyed the show but it’s most definitely worn with time. Shoji is extremely talented and the band is great. The rest of the show is entertaining, but certainly not like it was in the past.

I went to see this show with a tour group in Branson. It was the only show I was actually looking forward to seeing, but it was a disappointment. The violin playing is okay, but alot of the back up music is prerecorded, which I found odd, because they do have a live band for at least part of the show. The jokes are all a bit corny. I cant say its any worse than any other show in Branson, but its just not as good as what i was expecting.

Rather disappointing. Shoji is a great violinist but cannot sing and it is very hard to understand his broken English… I do mean BROKEN. The show was rather boring. I had heard about how wonderfully decorated and expensive the bathrooms were at this facility and I was not impressed. I feel I wasted money on these tickets.

Our second time to this show, spread WAY apart. In 1994, the show was exceptional, 5 stars for sure. Everyone on stage was the best at what they did. This trip, Shoji is still very good at what he does, from fiddling to comedy. The rest of the show was very so-​so.

Several friends had recommended this show based on their experiences of years past. Apparently, it has aged ungracefully. Granted, Shoji is still a talented violinist/​fiddler, but he seemed confused, forgetful, and a bit lost as an emcee. He has deferred a large portion of the show to his attractive, but minimally talented daughter, Christina. She can sing in tune, but that’s about it. She even fake-​strummed a guitar during one solo, to my astonishment. She and the other dancers were lackluster at best. It felt like amateur hour throughout. We saw six shows during our stay in Branson, and this one, by far, was the poorest. It looks as if Shoji is fading and hoping his daughter will eventually headline. She does not have what it takes to carry the theater. We left feeling sad for Shoji and disappointed for ourselves.

Okay it makes no difference if you are young or old, this is entertainment with high energy. Could care less about the restrooms and never ventured into either sex, but even in hillbilly country you appreciate indoor plumbing. After the fog of perfume sat in which does not mix with the cedar fever that is abundant in the area, the best part of the show was Christina belting out my fav of Adele’s music, yes other folks around me had no clue what music I was enjoying.
Hawking their gift shops got real old, the theatre appeared tired. Tribute to veterans and the showmanship was appreciated. Yes you can take your ticket and get 15% off at the restaurant next door, don’t recommend it.

What a disappointment! Shoji’s timing and musicality was way off. His back up singers, and dancers were terrible. Don’t. go on a Sunday night… He must give his regular staff the night off

Great show. Okay, it’s bound to have more appeal to the older adult crowd because of the absence of rap, but there’s a sample of just about every other genre of music in this show. Small cast, small band, great theater and a very entertaining show.

This show was just average. It was a Japanese violionist who is wonderful at what he does and maybe great for the older crowd, but not for me. I felt like it was a tortous event. It could not end soon enough.
It may just be a generational thing because my grandparents loved it, but to me it wasn’t worth the ticket price. I would have gone with a better show.
Although, I have heard at Christmas time they do better performances. One key thing that I loved though was the bathrooms… that is right, bathrooms. They are fancy as all get out!
In my opinion not a must see, but others loved it.

A classical trained violinist who can play anything and make it entertaining. If you don’t like this nothing will entertain you.

What a disappointment. This was the first show I selected based on recommendations from friends. I was in Branson the first week in Dec./2008 and was looking forward to a new experience — country music. The Shoji show was starting their Christmas program. When the lights were dimmed, adult sized elves started prancing around the theatre — this went on for 5 – 8 minutes. Finally, the curtains came up and Shoji made his entrance. The elves were pretty hokey. Turned out the whole show had a lot of ‘fillers’/extras. I’d venture to say that Shoji plays about 60percent of the time.
Shoji is a gifted fiddler. But I didn’t understand all the billboards around town showing him and his blonde wife — as though she was part of the show. We kept on waiting for her appearance, and he mentioned her name several times but nothing else. What kind of shtick is that? He might as well put a picture of his pets on the billboard too.
After seeing a few other performances in town, and hearing announcers say that ‘so and so’ in their theater won the best fiddler of the year award, you start to wonder who’s giving these awards out.
I guess there’s some hype to the bathrooms as well. I didn’t pay to go see a toilet. I don’t get it.

It is entertaining to go to the bathrooms at this theatre. The gals bathroom is as if Laura Ashley puked all over the place, and the overwheleming purfumey stuff is crazy.
Gals, do whtever you can to check out the fellas bathroom.
No bad seats, great visibility.
The show, I could live without, but it is entertaining in a car-​wreck sort of way. Saw the show 3 times while I was in Branson.
The dancers are good.

It’s SHOJI TABUCHI! He has his own theater! He plays the fiddle. Foot stomping! Country Western footstomping! With Japanese Taiko drums! No, you are not dreaming! No, it is not a nightmare!
THIS IS AN EXTRAORDINARY SHOW!
And a theater that you don’t want to miss. A theater that you absolutely must see. .. even the restrooms are a showcase in themselves.
LADIES: Live orchids at every onyx and granite sink. Chandeliers!

GENTLEMEN: Red & black. Leather chairs. Hand carved mahogany billiard table. Marble fireplace.
This is what I call decadent fun! You won’t believe it! Not in a million years. You must see for yourself! I did, I had tickets with several friends. We sat on the front row of the very large theater with our mouths hanging open, our feet stomping and our hearts racing. WHAT A SHOW!
