this place has cool atmosphere. it is unpretentious; however the food conveys a sense of classic French café. Tre’ Bien!

Pleasantly surprised for once in the area! Awesome sandwich– croque Monsieur– visually pleasing as well… The artichoke and hearts of palm salad nicely contrasted it. My husband’s steak and cheese was only okay he said though… Not as good as mine he commented… Only if they served wine and or beer to wash it all down! Will be back!

Here, unfortunately, is an example of where Unilocal’s star system can lead to a bit of a let down. Not that there is anything wrong with this place, its certainly leaps above any chain’s breakfast fare. But, my version of a four star experience and Unilocal’s can tend to differ — greatly. The Croque Monsieur, turned into a Madame with the addition of an egg, was nowhere near what the Unilocaloshere had advertised. Just a standard ham and cheese between some standard bread with a standard fare bechamel over the top. Same for the coffee, the sides, and the wife’s omelette — standard fare. Not bad, but when you’re driving in an unfamiliar part of the world and depending on Unilocal to deliver you a food experience and you land upon a 4+ star place — you expect more.

Oh my gosh. We were so excited to try this restaurant after reading the reviews. I checked on their Facebook page to find out the menu for the night. We arrived and were told that since it was the last night of the month, there was only one entrée left, no soup and I think it was just one salad — not a big selection. When the server saw I wasn’t interested in that, she said they did have one of the following month’s entrees available if I wanted to try that. I chose that — seared tuna with coconut rice. My husband went with the«last» entrée left — the fried chicken and waffles with maple gravy. No mention was made of the other entrée mentioned on the Facebook page. The salads served to us were the best part of the meal. The waffle was limp with no flavor. Waffles should be crisp on the outside and light and airy on the inside! The fried chicken tasted like it had been fried earlier in the week and then re-fried just before serving to us. The coating was very hard, overly crisp and very brown. The chicken was dry. Diners seated next to us were overheard complaining about the same state of their chicken. The maple gravy was also bland, even though it tasted faintly of maple mixed in with basic brown gravy. Seared tuna — seems easy, right? Well, it was cooked all the way through! Not even a hint of moisture in it. Since I’d not eaten since breakfast(saving up for what I thought was going to be a wonderful dinner) and knowing that we had the only two options available, aside from the sandwich menu, I ate my tough and not-so-tasty tuna. The coconut rice tasted like white rice with a can of crème of coconut stirred in. Dessert? There was a selection of cupcakes at the counter and my husband chose the peanut butter one. He said that was tied with the salad for the best part of his meal. Kind of sad since there were only two other diners in the restaurant and we were there early. Not a busy time so I can’t figure out how the chef managed to mess up the tuna so badly. ??? Oh, well. We gave it a try. :-(

This is a quaint little independent shop. It has been open for a couple of years. It is nothing fancy. You order at the counter and get your drinks from the machine. This was my first visit. I was looking for a breakfast shop, but found a sandwich shop. The disappointment was they seemed to have a few outages – no diet Pepsi and no croissants. The restaurant was warm even though the doors were open and the fans were on. Hence, the 3 stars. I order the Lorraine omelet. When the young man delivered it, he apologized that it was on multi-grain bread instead of the croissant. Frankly, I think it was probably better on the multi-grain as it added a dimension to the sandwich. The sandwich came all by itself without any embellishments on the plate and no sides, not even a pickle or carrots or… He offered me a cupcake to make up for the change. He rattled off a list telling me there was only one of the Twix cupcakes left. That sold me. It arrived and looked great. The buttercream frosting was light and fluffy. It was perfect with a piece of a Twix bar on top. Unfortunately, the cupcake was burnt and the flavor carried through the cake. If you are going to offer a cupcake bar, I would ensure the cupcakes are delightful. I will likely give them another shot, but when I’m craving a sandwich… not breakfast.

What a great place! I had the chicken salad croissant and my wife had the grilled cheese! Both sandwiches were amazing! The kitchen in the middle of the restaurant is pretty cool and everyone was super friendly! The dinner menu changes from month to month and i can’t wait to go back and try their chicken and waffles!

OMG! New favorite place! Checked out this place because we had a Groupon, and will definitely be back, weekly! Had a Grown Up Grilled Cheese with homemade potato salad and it was the best grilled cheese ever with brie, gouda, and provolone on sourdough. My husband had a Chicken Salad on criossant with a tomato/onion salad, which was just as good! It’s a small place that sources the best ingredients available at the time, meaning their dinner menu changes every month. The owner talked to us personally, telling us what was to come for next month and inviting us to give suggestions at any time! It’s a small place with big flavors and really fresh, well-prepared dished with interesting combinations. Such a nice switch from chain-restaurant food which is less than fresh. I can’t wait to go back and try their other selections, including a brunch menu on Sundays. I can’t recommend this place enough! They also have made-from-scratch gourmet cupcakes, which we were too full to try, but will definitely check out next time. They looked amazing!

Great little place. Stopped in for breakfast and sat at my table for 5 minutes before I realized you order at the counter(oops.) The staff were great, the food was tasty and the portions were good. Can’t do better than that.

Why 4 stars? Because it’s a sold sandwich, bro. — — — Not a whole lot to say here, other than it’s refreshing to experience a mom-n-pop place in the chain haven of Brandon. I went with the chimi sammy — little steak, little chimichurri, and she was a solid one. Everything here was very fresh. If I were to complain, I’d point out the lack of chips that they had when I visited… but that would counteract my whole point about the freshness. So, officially, for the record, I won’t complain about that. Neighborhood Bistro… I’ll absolutely be back!

Holy crow this place has some good sandwiches. Great price, too! Had the«not your average steak» sandwich, which was OUTSTANDING. Sweet onion jam, bleu cheese, and some really great tenderloin. Potato salad for the side was great too — nice and creamy. It was actually the second time I’ve gotten it, and while the rest of the menu sounds really great, the NYAS is really amazing. The place is very friendly, and the layout is great — the big chairs by the windows with the bookshelf is inviting. Wifi is there too.

This is one of my favorite places in the bay area. Although, I usually go for lunch as it is close to work; on several occasions I have driven from my home in west Pasco County, just for the tasty flare. Great food! One tip… turn up the air to pull the humid, musty air out.

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I thought the portions were tiny. I left hungry. It was a little strange staring at a giant chalkboard right above where someone was eating. I’ll probably try this place again as it’s right around the corner from my office, but just hope it’s better than the first time around. Prices were ok, staff was friendly.

We visited the Neighborhood Bistro after I purchased a coupon. I browsed Unilocal and online to get a feel for the place before going and was pleasantly rewarded with a meal just as good as the reviews indicated it would be. The two people working, Chef Michael and one other guy(who’s name slips my memory, sorry!) were extremely friendly, took our orders at the counter and got to work at making our meals. We ordered the Turkey Jammer and the Not Your Average Steak sandwiches. Both were sooo tasty! I loved the boursin on my turkey jammer. Everything really complimented each other on the sandwich and the tomato jam should be sold in a jar! The potato salad was homemade and was apparent in the taste — definitely recommend. After our sandwiches, my sweet tooth hit, so I had to have one of the beautiful cupcakes! They looked so perfect I almost didnt want to touch them! We picked the snickers cupcake and it was perfectly moist, not too sweet, but just enough to hit all the right notes. The Peanut butter frosting was delicious. My only cons? Nothing to do with the food! The restaurant was a little warm and humid. Maybe just an isolated problem with the ac? They had standup floor fans to move air around. It was not untolerable by any means. Secondly, the décor confused us a little. I love the feel they are going for, but we felt like the place needed a little more of an ‘eye’. The reading nook felt very out of place — like it should be up near the front near the windows or swap places with the drink station creating a little alcove. Not right next to the kitchen/counter and menu board where noise and foot traffic would be interferring with quiet conversation or reading time. Just an observation ;) I’m all for non franchised places closes to home and will be back!

If you like the cooking channel but don’t want the fuss, then this is the place. And, any place that uses bacon jam you know is going to be good. Great place for the foodie or the family with prices that won’t break the bank. Breakfast is served all day, but I could have one of their sandwiches for breakfast they’re so good. Definitely support this place whenever you can. The Brandon/Valrico area has been needing this for a long time.

Small, quaint restaurant where the aromas of nutella peanut butter cupcakes smack you in the face. We had a coupon and tried the following: Chicken and waffles with a bourbon glaze-homemade Belgian waffle with perfectly crisp chicken Lobster roll-exactly as you’d find in new England Blue cheese chopped salad-fantastic light dressing Croque Monsieur-as good as what you’d find in Paris Peanut butter nutella cupcake-as good as it sounds Definitely give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed and it’s reasonably priced.

Family owned with fresh food made on the spot when ordered. Friendly and the chef Michael even remembered what side I ordered a previous visit with a regular. Their Turtle drink should be illegal, it’s delicious. They are constantly changing their menu & test out their dishes before adding it to the menu. You’d think they’d be fatter doing this… In any case, a must visit location!

Neighborhood Bistro opened back around March and we have been frequently visiting since June. By frequently, I mean at least once a week and have even visited up to four times in one week. I realized they didn’t have a review on Unilocal and pondered listing them. A little selfishness here… I enjoy the quiet and short wait, I didn’t want it to let the secret out too much. Being altruistic I decided it’d be awesome to maybe help increase their clientele and maybe move past brunch and lunch to the occasional supper-time entrees. Thus, the review and listing on Unilocal… The family-owned, family-run business cares for the happiness of their customers and the high-quality of their food. They visit local farms and farmer’s markets for their produce, their breads are produced locally, their meats are cured in-house and the desserts are made in-house. The menu is composed of salads, sandwiches and several breakfast offerings. They offer a daily soup special and on Sundays they offer a brunch-genre entrée. The inspiration for these brunch entrees are fashioned by the chef walking through the market and picking seasonal specialties(stuffed acorn squash, pumpkin French toast, beggar’s purse with berries, etc.) He is amazingly creative. Our favorite sandwich is called the Turkey Jammer. It’s turkey, cheddar, boursin cheese, and their homemade tomato-bacon jam(who know tomato and bacon would be so… awesome) on seven grain bread and it is out of this world. Their Cuban is the best I’ve ever tasted. Both the size and flavor of the sandwich is huge. My husband loves the croquet monsieur. I can’t wait to go tomorrow…
