The lobby is nice, but the rooms are disgusting. They are dirty and have a foul odor. The staff is so used to customer complaints that they do not even apologize when you find several bugs in your bed.

We were happy with this hotel room. 2 Queen room with State farm discount $ 93 total on 12/29/2014. We’ve been in hotels where I’ve walked my family of five back out the door over to the next hotel because they were too gross to take your shoes off, so I compare my hotels to that experience.(That type of hotel is usually the $ 45 price) Though there were a few things not kept up, I felt completely comfortable sleeping here and the morning breakfast was filling. Waffles, sausage sandwiches, cereal and yogurt. Maintenance and housekeeping could do a better job, but I was overall happy to sleep the night there with my kids. Pool is outside and closed during the winter.

Edit 12÷4÷2014 I would like to update my review. The manager of the Brandon location has refunded my money and invited me to stay free with the promise to be sure my next stay we feel like a VIP. I am satisfied with this. Thanks La Quinta for remedying the mistake. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - On the 29th of November we were driving through on our way home after spending Thanksgiving with family. We typically stay in Marriott brand hotels because of their superior quality and cleanliness but wanted to try La Quinta. Our original reservation was for a La Quinta in Birmingham but decided to drive another three hours. I called and swapped my reservation. We checked in around 930pm and was given room 100. A room with 2 queen beds. I quickly realized there was a problem when the hallway our room was down positively reeked of cigarettes. I went back to the desk and let the woman know that I reserved a non-smoking room. She said I did not. A housekeeper was standing nearby. With three people in our family with lung issues and severe allergies, I always make sure our rooms are non smoking. She said they didn’t have any rooms at all except some executive king room or something. I said that was fine, but only if i was charged the price of my initial reservation since the mistake was not mine. The housekeeper disappeared and a few minutes later, the front desk woman suddenly found another room. She handed me the keys to room 112 and said it was non smoking. She said there was a pullout sofa for my boys and said there wasn’t linens for it but we could come get some if we wanted them. Um … Yes??? We opened the door and was hit by canned freshness. Did that housekeeper just spray this room? Weird. Then my husband points out the ashtray on the desk. Okay, maybe someone left an ashtray by mistake? We get in pajamas and suddenly(I expect the air freshener wore off) the room reeks of cigarette smoke. We are exhausted after driving 12 hours and much too tired to try and find a new hotel. My husband passes out Benadryl. At 4am my husband wakes me up and says he had enough sleep and wants to leave. The odor is that bad. My kids wake with headaches and my throat is itchy. My husband goes to the desk to check out and to complain, but no one is there. He waits about five minutes and just leaves. As we swing around we notice a man outside the door smoking. I’m guessing he was the one working at the front desk? I can understand the initial mistake of accidentally putting us in a smoking room. I absolutely cannot understand that happening a second time. I informed the woman that we are allergic. Did she send that housekeeper to room 112 to hide the fact that she was dumping us in another smoking room? This is appalling. We will never stay in another La Quinta again. As an Elite Rewards member at Marriott, I am ashamed that I tried to give this budge motel a chance.

Our room was clean but the hotel could have been cleaner and the pool wasn’t anything special.

Decent hotel right off the freeway. I almost didn’t stay here because of other reviewers said that there wasn’t wifi. Well, about a month ago the hotel decided to start offering free WiFi! It worked well my entire stay. The Executive Suite is just a larger room, not a separate bedroom and the tv is centered between the couch and bed, but not tiltable, making for an awkward angle from each. The thermostat was easy to adjust and the room was comfortable. There are black out shades for those who want to sleep in. That said, you might want to put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door because I didn’t and the maid knocked at 9:30am this morning. Checkout is noon. Delivery food options are pizza and Chinese/Japanese food. I don’t eat pizza anymore, so I opted for Fuji’s delivery. Unfortunately they had just closed so I went to bed hungry. The free breakfast was disappointing. I had read that waffles are available. That was not the case this morning. There was cold cereal, instant oatmeal, bananas, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, microwavable sausage biscuits, coffee and juice. For someone who eats primarily dairy-free and gluten-free, their breakfastn choices were really lacking. However, free breakfast is always better than no breakfast. :-)

No Wifi? Really? What is this 1850? Nothing to do around or near the hotel. No patio area. Unless you have a car there’s only a gas station nearby. Again, No Wifi.

Goes right up to the edge of being a nice hotel and then fails. Looks new with comfy beds, a decent lcd tv and nice counter tops. But then there is the in-room graffiti, the dirty toilet(urine stained from a previous guest), a broken cabinet door, the noisy, broken heater fan, the missing light bulb. Mostly lazy mistakes. This place pretends to be nice but can’t pull it off. The week after renovation this hotel was probably perfect but they seem to be letting it go. Someone seems to be caring for it like a Motel 6 and it’s starting to decline to that level. I might stay here again but it’s disappointing to see hotel with potential fall from grace.

So there’s a few things that piss me off about a hotel enough to give a single star… and the housekeeping lady banging on my door at 8:43AM when checkout is at 12:00PM is one of them. After being out with clients until 1:30AM I was planning on sleeping in till 10 before hitting the road again, but thanks to Mrs. IWantToFinishCleaningEarlyToday I was on the road at 9:30. The other thing is that when I left my room on day 2 of 3 days the housekeeping lady apparently decided that even though I set the thermostat at 70 it needed to be warmer. So when I returned last night to the room it was set at 77, and humid /hot.

The free breakfast had very few selections. Cereal, waffles, red delicious apples and yogurt. Lots of things were out of order. Broken treadmil, broken ice machines, broken doors that don’t accept your key card, burnt out light bulbs, broken hot tub, dirty pool. Hallway areas had a lot of water stains and water leakage, pool needed to be cleaned and pool was never unlocked on time.

We stayed here while we were attending a wedding. We had two rooms and my mom noticed she had some make up missing. So my wife checked and also found she had some missing. And it was not stuff that they used and left out. Someone had gone through their stuff and taken items they thought that wouldn’t have be missed. They were supposed to send us a reimbursement but it never showed.

We had a prepaid reservation for 2 rooms on a business trip. The desk clerk said we only have one reservation, and no empty rooms. She offered no help or remedy. No, we couldn’t have a room with 2 beds. No, we couldn’t have a rollaway. With no other options, we took the one room — and then discovered it was smoking, despite our non-smoking reservation. I will never choose LaQuinta again.
