Very nice dinner: Grouper, Tile fish, Steak Dianne, and Elk. All four of us thought our meals were excellent. Our waiter, Cory, was very good. Nice night out.

We always have a great experience at Pier 22! The food is excellent and the sunsets are phenomenal! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Pier 22 is my favorite place to take out of town company. We can sit outside and watch the boats go by or sit inside — or even sit in an enclosed patio area which offers half and half. This is also usually open on holidays and where I take my entire family so I do not have to cook and have a guaranteed great experience. The establishment could not be cleaner or more tastefully designed and the staff has always been happy to be working there. I see very little staff turnover which is a mark of a great restaurant, The menu is huge and dishes extremely creative. Very few places even offer Grouper sandwiches but they do. Other favorites of mine include Pier 22’s Corn Beef Reuben and Cuban sandwich. For dinner my favorites include Prime rib(on the weekends,) Stuffed Lobster, Tuna or Shrimp dishes. Again, Grouper is on the dinner menu also. I love their cheese grits when they offer them(usually on brunch type buffets) and I love the place so much one of my daughters is having her wedding reception there. I have also attended many functions in the ballroom and it IS the place for corporate parties. The Marina itself has live-aboards and a very eclectic and cool group of people to such an extent I will probably move my 44″ boat over there to hang out on weekends and write more books. I would love to sleep over the weekend and let Pier 22 do all the cooking!

Last night we had an amazing meal and fantastic service with our waiter Phillip. The view is beautiful and the created ambiance on the pier was great! The grouper was delicious and so fresh! We will certainly go back again.

This was my first visit based on a recommendation from the hotel I was staying at. Being alone on business, I sat at the bar. At the bar and lounge area, you would not have any idea that you were on the water as there was no view. I waited for a little while before I was even acknowleged by the bartender. When she finally came, I asked what the drink specials were. She informed me of wine, wells, etc. I asked her specifically what the«call» happy hour is that is indicated on the menu. She tried to push martini’s on me and then gave me a drink menu. Still not answering my question. After going back and forth, another bartender came along and finally said it was a 1.00 more that well, so it would be 4.00 for«select» calls. OK fine… at least I finally got an answer. Menu prices were very high compared to some competing locations I’ve eaten at in the downtown area. Salmon was about 8.00 more than Bricks. Since I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a big dinner I got clam chowder and a ceasar salad. The clam chowder tasted great. It was warm, not hot as I had wished. But because it tasted good, I didn’t have a complaint. The ceasar salad for 9.00 with no meat, was just OK. It actually looked better than it tasted. It was lacking dressing which I did get more. I travel to this area quite often, and I will stick with some of the other locations for dining.

Great spot! We usually go for lunch and sit on the patio, right on the river. Food is very good and the staff are friendly and helpful

I’ve had several good meals here. It’s a great place to take visitors. I really like the grouper piccata and the chicken lettuce wraps for appetizer. Good service too and many different cocktails. Easy parking. Sit upstairs if you want a nicer experience.

Had a good lunch. Oysters were good but on the small side. Crab cake was amazing. Those were are apps. I had the salmon blt sandwich it was very good. She had the crab spinach salad it was great but we got the check and it was over $ 90 so little pricey but good food. And we each had 2 cocktails. 6 oysters 1 crab cake 1salmon sandwich 1 salad and 4 drinks $ 91 + tip

Beautiful location right on the river. Food is awesome, my favorite being the grouper piccata. Best key lime pie in the USA, and I’m a key lime pie fanatic. Happy hour prices are great and the snoot-tini martini is amazing. The food is prepared and cooked right on the premises. The most important thing I can say about Pier 22 is that they really care about their establishment and patrons. I had a small issue with a server at a function there. I wrote a complaint and within hours the general manager called me. The issue is all but forgotten, but the memory that I received a personal phone call will carry back there for years to come. For a fine dining experience right on the water, Pier 22 gets two thumbs up! (Sorry, no pics… dove right into the food!)

Great brunch on Sunday’s. They have a great deal on mimosas and the Belgian waffles are amazing.

I have been to Pier 22 several times and have really wanted to love it. It is within walking distance to my home so I have given it many opportunities to «wow» me. I didn’t want it to let me down, but I am afraid they have. The first time I went there was by far the best experience. We sat out on the patio. The views are amazing. The service was wonderful. The food was very good. We had the crab cakes and sea bass. We left there happy. But, every time I have been these since — the service has been subpar at best. I have sat in the restaurant, at the bar, and on the patio. By far, the best service I received was at the inside bar. The bartenders were attentive and very friendly. However, on the patio — they seem to be short staffed. I frequently have had to wait for someone to take my order and there is usually one waiter rushing around, looking frantic. This is usually around the beginning of happy hour. The management seems to be out of touch. On one occasion, a manager came out to introduce himself to a customer on the patio(sitting at the table next to me). Apparently, they had mutual friends. He went out of his way to ask how her meal was and if she needed anything. The tables are close together on the patio — so when he walked past the other customers and did not even acknowledge us, it was pretty clear how we ranked. The lady on the other side of me looked at me and rolled her eyes. My last time(and most likely my final trip) to the restaurant was last week. I took some out of town family there for a late lunch/early dinner. I asked the waitress if I could order off the dinner menu because it was almost dinner time — 5 mins left in lunch and was told if the rest of the table was ordering lunch, I could not order dinner. I was confused, in other trips it had never been a problem. I asked her to clarify and she responded with a nasty attitude«that’s what happens when you come to lunch…». I ordered a lunch sandwich. It was another reflection of how the restaurant treats customers. This is a small thing, but they do have a frequent diner card. No one offers it to the customers nor do they ask if you have one when you pay your bill. I have forgotten a few times. It would be nice if they would ask or remind you. The food is always good. I wouldn’t say it is great. But good. The dinner is a little pricey for the portions. The Chilean Sea Bass is very good. The prime rib is average. It is only offered on Friday and Saturdays. Happy hour menu is average. There isn’t anything exciting about the menu that would make draw you back in. I would have given the restaurant three stars if the customer service was better.

Hmmmm… I’ve spent many sleepless nights deciding to give this place three or four stars. Well, not exactly, but it really is a tough choice. First off, location, location, location! Set on a beautiful pier extending into the Manatee River, the view is superb. I just love sitting at one of the tables by the windows watching the river drift by. The staff has gotten friendlier, especially since it became Pier 22(was called Mattison’s before). The food is good but sorely overpriced. I really suggest eating lunch here versus dinner. The dinner prices are ridiculous for what you get. The lunch menu is mainly sandwiches. The French dip, gator, and grouper sandwiches are delicious. The dinner menu mainly consists of meats and pasta. Everything is a hit or miss. I ordered the shrimp scampi. It was okay. The noodles were sorely overdone, and the sauce was weird. Definitely not worth $ 20. Chicken penne pasta was tasty but wayyyy overpriced. $ 19 for a bowl of pasta, sauce, and some chicken and veggies. The half chicken was superb… but overpriced. I think it was $ 23. Kids pizza was surprisingly good. By far, the most ridiculously priced item on the menu was cheesecake. I was hoping for $ 8, it would be huge. Nope, normally sized slice. Although the food was okay, the check left a bad taste in my mouth – $ 100 for three entrees, kids meal, BOGO martinis(two for one), and one slice of cheesecake. Overall, the food here is good, service good, but prices outrageous. This place is trying to be something it isn’t, which is a hot dining destination. It was DEAD at 6pm on a Saturday night. There were three parties in the whole dining room. We might be back, but not for a while.

The ambiance is great, but that’s just about it. The service was terrible, we were a party of 11 and the place was dead on a Sunday night, there was no excuse for the terrible service. We had as many as 4 – 5 glasses in front of one person. We basically had to ask the waiter to take away our plates from the appetizer. They didn’t bring out bread until we got our entrées, where are the table next to us(different waiter) got their bread right off the bat. We didn’t even know we were supposed to get bread. The food was alright, and inconsistent. The size of the meat(fish — two of us got sea bass, another two for grouper) was inconsistent, some bigger than others. And also, not really worth the money. I didn’t get a lot of food for the 28 $ sea bass. My father complained of tough steak and thick mash potatoes(and not in the good way). Oh, and coasters, they don’t exist here. The table was pretty much soaked with the condensation from the drinks. Definitely did not deserve the business they got from us today.

Our reservation was for 7:30, and thanks to some fartknocker cab driver we were 30 minutes late. The hostess was accommodating and she didn’t mind our tardiness. Side note-they had some lovely aquariums with exotic fish. We sat on the patio of this establishment. I slugged down 6 Bud lights and rammed some Birkshire pork into my gob. The food was scrum-dilly and the atmosphere is top notch.

The food tastes homemade! The first time I came, I asked the server if the chef could use the gluten free bread from the Cuban sandwich for the baked French onion soup, and they did! It was outstanding! I had the Asian lettuce wraps and baked French onion soup the first time, and both were so good I had to come back. My second trip I had the baked French onion soup, Thai Beef, and crème brûlée! The Thai Beef wasn’t listed as being gluten free, but the chef made it special for me. Kellen, our server, was excellent!!! He went out of his way to accommodate me!

Great place to go for happy hour and a quick bite! Great veggie lasagna and good sushi. They have a terrific drinks also. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive. We had my wife’s bridal shower here and they outdid themselves with great drinks and service. We has an Xmas party here and they were so accommodating. The bar staff was terrific and the meals were great! The whole setup was very reasonably priced and we would definetly have another engagement here.

We loved walking along the Riverwalk and then ending up at Pier 22. It was nice enough to eat outside and we had arrived early for happy hour. Couldn’t get a server to wait on us and that trend continued throughout our meal. Our server was never to be found which saved us money on drinks. The mojito was tasty but lacked alcohol. I switched to wine. We started with the lettuce wraps which were very good. Loads of chicken and veges and sauce on the side. Could have used more lettuce leaves based on the amount of filling they provided. I had the salmon with the pineapple chutney and the corn risotto and it was excellent. My husband had the bruschetta chicken and wasn’t impressed. Poor choice. Overall, the view is nice, although a bit noisy from traffic on the bridge, but worth a visit.
