This has been my go to bar for the last 3 years. Food is always amazing, drinks are spectacular, but above all else the staff is what makes this bar the best I have found. If you are looking for dancing/music Thursday-Saturday this is the place to go! Comedy Wednesdays are a blast. There is always a reason to go to Bar IX ;)

The only problem I have with this place is, I don’t see any of my pictures on their website. I’m very photogenic– most of the«popular» bars in Bozeman have my pictures… what’s up Bar IX??? Beer is great, food is great, whiskey is great, they have restrooms, but no Jeff. C’mon guys get with the program. It’s basically more fun when I’m there

How to: Bar IX. The best time to go for most humans is 2−7pm, or on a Sunday. Why? 2 for 1 cocktails, wine(the tiny selection) and draughts(many local) at all those times. The 2 – 7 daily happy hour also has some app specials for $ 5 that are not the worst ever. But it’s a preeminent party bar in a college town, so the night times Thursday through Saturday are when it gets weird. DJs, dancing, and often barely room to walk through the crowd of fraternity brothers, sorority girls, and Middle Eastern exchange students. But if the bar upstairs is open, it’s the spot to get quick service and look down to watch the world burn fueled by student loans and Mom in Vermont’s money. Keep in mind that if you order a cocktail, it will be double and tall(the way God intended) unless you specify otherwise. Your mileage may vary on the daily specials, but Mancave Monday is all right.

Hate to admit it, but I love it. Great food, beer and servers are always awesome. Get there before 9 and its mellow. Can’t beat it for sports or just a beer.

Me and my good friends get into groups of five or six and head down to this bar every single thursday night. The crowd is always poppin, the staff is so friendly to us and they go out of the way to help us get drinks when it’s crowded. I really love this bar. The one problem is the music. I can’t say how horrible it is to hear the same stuff I danced to at my eighth grade dance being played. I used to think it was the same playlist for thursdays, but come to find it is the same thing on friday and saturday nights. The DJ won’t play anything me or my friends request because he «doesn’t have it» or «the wifi sucks here». Bar nine is the best, but something has to be done about the music.

Don’t waste your money on the crab. The fries aren’t good, either. For drinks, stick with beer or wine. Great place for late-night dancing… not so great for dinner.

Absolutely fantastic service. The loaded baked potato soup was mush(think baby food), cheese curds so-so; however, the buffalo bits were quite tasty(we had the sriracha sweet honey). Drinks were pleasant, made quickly and poured well. Tab for 2 apps, soup, 2 drinks and a beer was just $ 28. The price and service can’t compare. Nicely done!

Great food and awesome service! The homemade root beer is tasty. Unique flavor. One of the best things is they give great large portions. You won’t leave hungry.

Last night I had a less-than perfect experience at bar nine, and woke up this morning to an email from the owner, who basically said«everything that bugged you is something we’ll change immediately for any customer(just ask!) – try us again sometime, and the first one is on me.» That’s how you run a business. Good work.

This is probably my favorite place to watch football in all of Bozeman. They have huge tv’s all over the bar and the staff are always more than happy to put your game of choice on. I’m not much of a drinker, but they have 2 for 1’s every Sunday which seems to get patrons in the football spirit. At halftime, they also have fun bar games to play like skee ball!

My first time at Bar IX with 3 of my friends was not so bad. We went with intentions to dance and have a few drinks, and did just that. We walked in to a decent, music pumping area that wasn’t so crowded at first, but as the night progressed there was a crowd. It was a bit hard for people trying to come in to the bar having the dance floor and DJ right there at the front of the house. People dancing were constantly bumping into people trying to enter/exit. I understand the logic of having the dance floor and DJ in the front to appeal to passersby with lights and big crowds, but it probably would have been more effective to put the music at the back so the bar wasn’t so overcrowded by the dance floor. Bar IX isn’t the only bar downtown that uses this technique with its large front windows. The flat screens behind the bar is fun, playing music videos along with the DJ. I saw hoards of folks carrying large, almost jug-like carafes filled with liquor. My friend ordered one to share with his wife. He said the drink was a «Dirty Shirley» and contained six shots(not sure how much that cost). There was an upstairs overlooking the dance floor and entrance. The bar appeared relatively clean and I was definitely impressed with the clean ladies restroom. I noticed that my friends not paying with cash had to leave their CC with the bartender until they were ready to close out their tab… Kind of an outdated method(system) if you ask me… Overall, this was a fun hangout for getting our groove on. Things that could make it better: — Move the dance floor and DJ area to the back — Get an updated payment system — Make sure the bartenders know when to cut people off when they’re too drunk… Creepy drunk guys that won’t leave you alone is just obnoxious. — The solo pitcher of drinks is a unique idea, but a huge open container is just begging to get roofied. Don’t put it down!

I don’t know what everyone is bitching about. They have the liquor that gets the job done quicker, and a super hot new Italian bouncer.

Don’t come here unless you are college student age. I was forced to listen to the girl next to me talk about her DUI for way too long.

The bar itself is for a younger crowd. Very entertaining, good drinks. Smaller dance floor… but that seemed to be my impression of most Montana bars. BUT the manager Chad is why I am writing this review. His friendliness and overall customer service makes this bar a definite 5 star experience. Thanks for having my back Chad. See you around!

Place to go for MSU students who want to enjoy a beer and have some food at happy hour prices and experience a Montana hot spot! Love the entry way out front with its unique tile job!
