When I found out that there was a comic book store near my house I was very excited. I hadn’t gone to a comic book store since I moved to Boynton. As soon as I walked into the store, I got good vibes. There are multiple aisles with various things. They have a lot of toys which is cool. One of their walls is filled with The Walking Dead toys and comic books, which was awesome to be able to flip through the books and see some of the same scenes that were on the show. They have a really cool life size statue of Spider-Man in the back that begs to have its picture taken. Their comic book selection is broad. They seem to have more DC comics vs Marvel. They all have really crazy cool figures of different superheroes in display. The girl that was working there was really nice and she was very knowledgeable and told me about their big store in Lauderdale. I will definitely be back and I want to attend some of the events that they are holding. Keep on rocking in the free world Tate’s!

I called the store to sell a toy. I called several times to make sure they were interested. I explained I was coming all the way from Boca Raton. This guy turned around and offered me not even 20% of what it was selling for on eBay. Knowing that I came all this way and using it as an opportunity to lowball me. Shady establishment. Take your business elsewhere

5-stars for the friendly service! I was offered assistance a few times, but when I needed help, Angel gave me her undivided attention. She was SO kind and gave me all the information I needed about a specific comic series — the other two gentlemen at the front also chimed in with their services when necessary. Although much smaller than the other Tate’s location in Ft. Lauderdale, this location is stocked from wall-to-wall with awesome little finds. I think my companion and I spent about an hour or so browsing the shelves of this place… I found a «Misty May» action figure and clung to it like it was the last piece of food on a desert island. Overall, the service is great at Tate’s — you gotta check this place out, even if it’s just to browse! ^_^

I wasn’t impressed. While they had a pretty decent selection of the latest released comics their back issue selection left a lot to be desired. It seemed more like a novelty store than an all out comic book shop. I made a purchase since I made the trek down from Wellington, but I much prefer the likes of Past, Present, and Future.

Feeling spoiled living in NJ by having many comic book stores to chose from in my area, on vacation in West Palm Beach I was not expecting to find anything good. I was wrong, this place was very awesome. I’ve never been to a shop that has«everything» but most of the ones I love have the essentials and 1 thing they specialize in. This place has the essentials, new comics, statues, trades, manga, toys and back issues. They don’t have a crazy amount of back issues, they have a few nice ones on the wall(a little pricey) and undershelve boxes didn’t go back that many years(as far as I could tell.) I was able to find all my weekly pick ups no problem. One thing I loved was their big toy selection and prices were very reasonable about 5 $ cheaper than I’ve seen a lot other places. The workers were very nice and had no problem catching me up on what was going on in comics I’ve fallen behind on. I was so interested in talking to them that I left my wallet in the store and they chased me out to give it back! I will be returning every time I visit.

I’m so glad we have another comic book store in Palm Beach! Tate’s Boynton location is right next to a TooJays and across from the Muvico. I’d like to think that people leaving the theater after watching stuff like Captain America 2 and X-Men Days of Future Past proceed to file right into this store and buy some related comics. This place is a lot of fun to visit, with a lot of great eye candy in the way of busts, dolls and action figures to browse. It seems like every time I stop by, there’s new stuff to see. They seem to do a lot of promotions and gatherings. I came here for Free Comic Book Day and got a 20% off coupon. The staff is usually pretty friendly(except for the last guy who rang me out — probably some Aquaman hater). I guess my only criticism is that I’d like to see more board games. There are only a handful on the shelf.

I don’t really read comics but I really like this store. I can definitely get into reading comics. On free comic book day I got a few comic books that looked interesting. They have a lot of figurines and trinkets. They even have Japanese and Korean snacks, candies and drinks which is really nice because I don’t have to drive very far to get them. Yea they’re a little expensive but you’re at a comic book store, not at an Asian grocery store. What I really like about this store is that many of the items in the store brings back memories of my childhood from the snacks to figurines and robots. When I was young, I used to really like Gundam which is a robot that was popular in Japan and in Korea back in the early 80’s. I used to have toys and build these model kits. Anyways, I saw a figurine of Gundam at the store and I was amused.

I couldn’t believe it. Tate’s, my favorite comic book shop ever(and I’ve been to comic shops all over the damn place), was opening a small location right in my hometown! While I still gladly make the drive to the main location for the gigantic selection, this more compact satellite location definitely scratches my itch to browse this week’s new issues and a nice selection of graphic novels. Of course, there are also new action figures, statues, vinyl toys, pop culture collectibles, unique art books and more… basically all of the same kinds of new items you would find at the main location, just a smaller selection. If you’re looking for more of the vintage stuff, the main location is still there, offering those things up better than anyone else. In closing, come on out and support Tate’s! If you’re into comics, there’s still nothing like checking out some brand new issues every week or grabbing a few essential graphic novels you’ve missed.

I’ve heard so much about Tate’s but this weekend I finally got to experience it. If the Lauderhill location is 4x the size then I don’t know if I’m coming out of that place with any money in my pocket. My 2 ½ year old boy wanted to see some toys so we happened to be in the area and I knew it was by the mall, but not actually connected so my dumb ass drove up and down Congress for 15 minutes until I did something sensible, I called the store for directions. Men don’t do this, ego always gets the best of us. Idiots. From the outside it didn’t look that big. It’s directly to the left of Too Jays, but once you’re inside it’s rather spacious. About 5 aisles filled with toys from everything you can imagine. Star Trek, Batman, Spiderman, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, Walking Dead and of course my favorite, Star Wars. Every figure from every year imaginable. I soiled my pants in excitement. There aren’t many comics here, but they have a nice selection of classics on the top racks. The toys though. I don’t know who was having more from my son or myself. The prices aren’t outrageous, but they definitely have a mark-up on them. Still, to eliminate the hassle of buying online or the hours of searching for that vintage toy from the 80s is worth it. My son decided on this bad ass Dr. Doom action figure for $ 21. Why? Because my 2 year old has good taste, knows more about Marvel and Star Wars than most people in their 30s and 40s and he is a little gangster. Next X-mas I’m doing all my shopping here.
