CHANGEDMYLIFE. Alright but in all honesty, one of the best food experiences of my life. I mean, look at that picture! I was never a huge fan of oysters but I could probably eat 50 of these in one sitting. The location is beautiful. It’s a bit of a drive but definitely worth it. It’s right on the water next to a really cool railroad track. No other business within miles, completely closed off. There’s a small lighthouse outside that you can sit next to on some picnic benches. The oysters are insane. So fresh and so meaty. Crack them open, dab of Tabasco, drop of lemon juice, heaven. You should absolutely start up the charcoal grill and throw a couple of them on. They pop right open and it’s like you’re eating a whole different dish. Half raw and fresh, half cooked is the way to go. I am going to take any excuse I can to make it back up here. I physically miss this food.

Even on a cold, windy and rainy day, buying some oysters and shucking them outside on the covered patio was a blast. After a quick rundown of all the oysters present and reading through all the history and information about the oyster farm we decided on the medium and small sized oysters and picked up a couple of lemons. Really you dont need to bring anything at all, as they will loan you a knife to shuck and all the instructions of how to shuck. We took our 2 dozen oysters right over to the back patio luckily with a roof so we didn’t get soaked by the rain and enjoyed learning to shuck our own oysters and reaping the tasty reward that awaits inside, then tossing the shells right back into the water. I had so much fun with my family here even with the non-ideal conditions, I’m sure it’ll be even more fun on a nicer day!

This place is fantastic! We hiked Oyster Dome and on our way back stopped here to enjoy the view and some fresh oysters. It was our first time eating them, and wow I enjoyed them! We ate them raw and also grilled some with garlic, lemon, and Tabasco. I can’t wait to come back!

This place is like shellfish Disneyland. We came here on a sunny but very cold November Saturday afternoon. We just shucked and ate raw but there were several bbq’s available for use. The tables have these little plastic things attached to help with the shucking. Also attached to the bucket of oysters is a shucking knife, incase you forgot or don’t have your own. In the store along with all of the delicious seafood offerings they have charcoal, beer, seasonings, cocktail sauce, lemons and t-shirts etc.

Well the sign says they close at 5:00 but on this beautiful Saturday afternoon the mean lady was removing all the shellfish and putting it away at 4:45. She scowled at us as we entered the store when we asked if they were«still open» and said«I want to go home.» Suggestion: if you are really closed at 4:45 then change your frigging sign… My hope is that this one bad employee is not representative of the rest of the staff, none of whom we were able to meet thanks to Miss Crabby.

I’ll start out by admitting that I’m really not a huge fan of oysters. I know, I should be banished or something. Despite this fact, I really enjoyed Taylor Shellfish Farms. My parents are obsessed with fresh oysters so I was just along for the ride, but it ended up being very fun and pretty yummy! The«Farm» is right in Samish Bay with gorgeous views of the water all around – it’s absolutely perfect on a sunny, beautiful day. There are a bunch of picnic tables with accompanying grills so you can choose to grill your oysters(or anything else you bring), but be sure to bring your own charcoal. Basically the only thing the Farm provides is a shucking knife and a hand towel along with your purchase. My parents bought more oysters than I could count, and bought even more before they left. Since I’m not an oyster connoisseur by any means I can’t really comment on which one was best, but my parents liked the«small» size oysters towards the wall of the retail area the best.

Great place with a nice view of the water to eat oysters. Prices are generally cheaper than anything you’d get at a non happy hour oyster bar in Seattle. Tried their specialty oysters(Shigoku, Kumamoto, Virginica) and I could actually taste the difference which was nice. They give you a bucket and will let you borrow a shucking knife and towel. Had a great time and can’t wait to go again!

It’s now on my bucket list to come back on a sunny day. They have a variety of outdoor tables + grills. For $ 50 you can get a bag of oysters and then grill your own. We didn’t have time + the power was out at home so we stuck with some smoked salmon. Pretty good price & it was delicious! Staff was friendly. Be careful coming down to the store b/c it’s a narrow hill but once you see the bay it is beautiful!

Took my boyfriend here as a surprise. He loves oysters. We got a dozen of the Shigoku, took them down to the deck and shucked away. They have lemon, mini tobasco, and shuckers on site which was really convenient. Grills are available and plenty of tables with a good crowd rotation. Very scenic and just overall a fun experience. I would definitely recommend and return.

I LOVE Taylor Shellfish Farms! This is the best venue for fresh oysters. We made a quick stop along our chuckanut drive, bought a few fresh oysters(shigokus and kumamotos), they gave me a bucket with ice, a shucker and a towel and off I went to sit on a picnic table at the dock. Shucked and ate super fresh oysters right along the oyster beds with a beautiful view of Samish Bay. They had lemons and tabasco sauce you could buy, but I missed that boat. They also have coal bbq grills to grill your oysters, they sell coal if you don’t bring your own. When you buy your oysters, they offer to show you how to shuck(for the newbies)…I was like, ha… I got this!

You go to a dock, buy oysters or mussels and shuck them on simple picnic tables on the water(depending on the tide) and can spend $ 50 and have an amazing if simple feast. Bring your own sauces, plates, and paper towels! We didn’t and should have. These oysters were some of the best I have had. The experience of driving a twisty one lane road over some railroad tracks to get oysters at the source was half the fun.

Let me begin with: I had no idea what to expect at a Shellfish Farm. I knew there would be fresh shellfish, but couldn’t picture the concept behind«farm». We were driving from Vancouver back to Seattle, and decided to take the scenic route. I googled fresh oysters and Taylor’s popped up. It was a little difficult to find as my GPS directed us to another oyster house on the main road, but we eventually found this place. As we pulled up(we drove down a hill and across the railway tracks to this small shack), we could see people sitting at picnic tables shucking oysters. Now, keep in mind, none of us have shucked oysters before, and we walk into the store, doe-eyed with fascination. People were coming in and just picking up bags of oysters and other shellfish, placing them on ice in a bucket, and walking out like it was no big deal. We opted for a dozen oysters and a package of smoked oysters. We had a couple lemons and two shucking knives. After a few You Tube videos, and a helpful neighbor at the picnic tables, we were shucking oysters like it was our favorite pastime. Needless to say, the oysters were incredible. Such a great experience and an even better view. Glad we decided to make a detour off the highway to experience Taylor’s Shellfish Farm. I highly recommend this place to anyone making a road trip up the coast of Washington.

This place is about an hour north of Lynwood. You can come here to buy oysters to go or you can eat the oysters on the premises. There are tables and grills setup outside on a first come first serve basis. It’s a nice spot for a family/friend gathering. Me and my wife showed up on a weekday morning so we were the only ones there. We enjoyed the beautiful view while eating the delicious fresh oysters. Point of reference for those that are familiar with Tomales Bay and Hog Island oyster farms in the Sonoma area. Taylor farm is not nearly as «commercial» as the two aforementioned locations. You can’t buy alcohol on the premises and it’s pretty bare bones what you can purchase here. Make sure to bring all of your own utensils, condiments, drinks etc. They do have shucking knives, lemons, and tabasco sauce though. My only gripe about this place is that the prices are NOTCHEAP. In fact i’m pretty confused on why oysters are so expensive in the Seattle area in general. Maybe i’m just spoiled by California prices? Sure, you can get those crappy pacific oysters for like 0.89 cents but I can that price pretty much at any Chinese market back home. Those oysters are more for grilling or frying. For raw eating deliciousness you want the other options they offer and those are all like 1.5 to 2 bucks each. Seems pricey, especially since you are at the farm. I can get those prices during happy hour at a fancy restaurant or all day everyday at the more«reasonably» priced restaurants.

Driving from Vancouver to Seattle? GOTTASTOPBYHERE. You can shuck your own oysters and eat them in the outdoor area, have a picnic and hang out for a while. I feel like this is one of those secret gems that only the cool kids know about. Now you know. We got a dozen kumamotos and a few medium and a few small live oysters. You can still see some of them moving inside their shells… ONPOINT. They give you a bucket and your own shucker. Learn how to do it from Youtube or something. Just do it. SOFRESH. SOWORTHIT.

*Just a real gem, the kind of place you hope never goes away *tricky to find, no signs once you are off the road, just keep following the train tracks *Picked up some amazing Olympias for a buck a piece and their smoke tuna, while dry was super tasty

(4÷18÷2015) We were driving down Chuckanut Drive for the view, wanted to experience some Pacific oysters, this was THE perfect way to do that, right from the farm, overlooking the tidelands, on a glorious spring day. They had 4 types of oysters(Pacific, Shigoku, Olympia, Kumamoto) in the shell the day we were there, you shuck them yourself outside at one of the picnic benches or by the shore, there’s even a grill outside if you’d rather. The prices were unbelievably cheap(especially after our previous experience up the road at the overpriced Oyster Bar). If you are anywhere near there and you love shellfish, it’s a must stop.

OHYESGETINMYBELLYYY This is the OG spot to get all your oyster goodies, yeah you can head to the storefronts in cap hill and etc but you wont get these prices or this freshness! The oysters taste clean and the place is quite spacious, Theres no excessive mess, crazy additional charges if you need to borrow shucking equipment/have a big group, and best of all you dont have to fight for a spot!(or i havent had any difficulties yet). The bathrooms are clean and the dining area is very open and peaceful. Overall i thought this was going to be a lot more stressful, fighting for a table and battling seaguls, but I had a pleasant experience and would definately return

TAYLORSHELLFISHFARMSISTHEPLACETOBE!!! Caps lock is well deserved in this case. I was ECSTATIC to checkout this place while in Washington. It was an utterly great WA day. Not cold nor was it hot. Absolutely sublime topped with a practically endless supply of oysters and mussels. We purchased 5 dozen small pacific oysters for $ 51, a dozen Kumamoto Oysters, and 2 dozen mussels for 4 people totaling just under $ 100! 4 people!!! Basically it was an incredible amount of seafood for us and I definitely overate. The small oysters were not that small in reality, much bigger than other oysters I’ve had, with fabulous flavor that was consistent. We brought our own charcoal, rice and some other grub to go with them. One of the best meals in my life. I love shucked raw oysters. Downside is my thumb was cut up by an oyster pretty bad, but even that did not sour the mood of the day nor my appetite! They even have alcohol wipes to clean with and band-aids on hand for when that happens! Affordable price, fresh, friendly staff and most importantly consistently delicious flavor.

If you’ve been to Taylor Shellfish in Capitol Hill, you know all the fresh seafood and wonderful oysters they sell in Seattle have to be coming from somewhere very, very good and relatively close by. Here’s your chance to visit and see where the magic happens. At Taylor Shellfish Farm, you can visit the source of the goodness. This is a friendly spot and its fun to visit their«farm» on the water to see the oysters being harvested, or purchased to go. The setting here is certainly picturesque, through a rustic entryway, down an uppaved road and across the railroad tracks, to a shack right on the water. Located right off Chuckanut Drive, this is a good stop for photos and to see where your seafood comes from. If you bring your own cooler(and know how to shuck) you can take some oysters on ice to go. They will also pack them in ice if you forgot a cooler. Keep in mind, there is really no eat-in option here, as they are selling bulk at this location, and are not set up for tasting or serving any food(although if you ask, they are very friendly and may let you sample a fresh oyster.) If you are comfortable prepping and cooking your food outdoors, and can pack in all your supplies & ingredients(besides their fresh seafood, of coarse) you can BBQ onsite. Its almost perfect — if only there were an option to eat oysters inside.
