A friend recommended this place to me after I told him about a terrible Polynesian food joint in Ogden. Well this place was amazing! I don’t make it to this area very often but when I do my family and I will be back!!! Everything was so yummy. The teriyaki was amazing! As was the very flavorful pork. My mouth is watering right now thinking about it!!!

Fantastic food. Since there aren’t any L&L’s in Salt Lake, I have been seriously missing good, fast Hawaiian food. Luckily there wasn’t anywhere good to eat in Farmington as we were heading home from Lagoon so we came across this place. This place is awesome. The menu has 8 main meals, with some other small things you can order on the side. They have all the classic Hawaiian dishes like katsu and some others. We ended up getting the garlic chicken and one of the steak dishes. We sat down in one of the comfy booths and waited for our food. After a bit the food came out. It was a perfect amount of food! The garlic chicken had an amazing texture and was perfectly spicy. It came with two scoops of some great tasting rice and a side of macaroni. I asked for some sriacha and they brought me some. The steak was great as well. They also have shave ice, but according to the guy working his parents had taken the machine out to some sort of midget fighting event(his words, not mine). It sounded great though and I will pick some up next time I’m there. This place has the best Hawaiian food in Utah and for about $ 10 a person it’s a great deal.

Great food. It took 55 minutes to get our food today and it came sporadically. Some in our group were done eating when others received their order. Sweet Jesus.

Loved the food here. Definitely a hole in the wall type of place– and it felt just like Hawaii!

Best hawaiian I’ve had in Utah yet. Don’t go to Mo’Bettah down the street. This place is so much better. Everything is made to order, so it’s all fresh. That’s one thing I HATE about Mo’Bettah; it’s all premade and just sitting under heat lamps, etc… Wait for the food is about 10 – 15 minutes, but that’s totally fine. My favorite is the chicken katsu. Another reviewer says it’s bland, but I disagree. It’s moist and flavorful. Then again, I’ve never had katsu that is outrageously seasoned, so maybe I’m missing something. Pork is really good, too. Rice is good. Mac salad is good. Overall, I really like this place. We met the guys that own it and they are really nice. I really like family owned businesses, so this place sticks in my heart.

Alright, I’ll say it: Aloha Grindz is bettah than Mo’ Bettah. The interior is nothing special, the staff doesn’t go out of their way to be friendly or helpful, but the food is the best of its kind in Bountiful.

I’m inclined to do this as sort of a positive/negative review. Positives: Service is generally friendly, price is reasonable for food on the plate, the pulehu steak was fantastically good, the rice was also very good. The steak was so good, in fact, I basically just ate it with my fingers while going down the pipe on I-15, it was that good. I ate about half the rice with my fingers, since that was pretty good also, until I wrecked half of it with the katsu sauce they provided. Also of note is that the meat had very little fat overall, always kudos in my book for that. Negatives: The very ketchup-y katsu dipping sauce, the dreadful macaroni salad(I ordered it without, but got some anyway, ugh), the drink selection, the décor(frankly bizarre), the loose tiles in the lobby and the unbelievably slow pace they set. I get it, it’s made to order, it takes a while and so I make allowances, but it scares me to think of that place during the lunch rush… unless everyone has given up. Place wasn’t too busy. Neutral: The katsu chicken itself. It was a bit bland by itself, though prepared fairly well. It was not helped by the katsu dipping sauce at all and I don’t think I will order it again. So, while the food was very good, mostly, I don’t really see myself returning because I just can’t spend that kind of time waiting. If I do, I’m definitely going in for the musubi. The pictures frankly look disgusting, but I’m going for the puhelu steak solo as well, if I do, so it’s not like I will be short on food. I wouldn’t anticipate this anytime soon, though…

The food was pretty good, but I think the reviews here raised my expectations a little too high. I wanted to try lots of things, so I ordered the Haloti Special which allowed me to try 3 items. I tried the ribs, Kahlua pork, and teriyaki chicken with the macaroni salad. It was all fine, but by no means the best I have had around. My Kahlua pork had quite a large amount of fat pieces in it… not so appetizing. I thought the macaroni salad was better than most I have had. This is a nice alternate choice to all of the usual ethnic kinds of foods.

This is where I go for the best short ribs! The garlic chicken, or Kalua pork it’s all good. Local Hawaiian food made by local Utahans. They have mini plates if you’re watching your calorie intake too. Hang Loose and feel the ‘Spirit of Aloha.’

This place is great. I love it. First off, everything is made to order, so plan on waiting a good 10 – 15 min for your food. It’s better this way, trust me, just be patient. Secondly, don’t leave here with out trying the Spam musubi. It’s like spam sushi. shhhhhh, don’t argue. just trust me, it’s good. eat it. Really. If you want a taste of true Hawaiian food, get it. First bite will be weird, second bite will be good, 3 days later you’ll be craving it and have to run back. Lastly, chicken Katsu. It’s pretty darn perfect fried chicken. Sure they do good teriyaki, sure there steak is great, but the Katsu… the Katsu… Take a friend and share«da haloti special» it’s a big 3 meat treat. You’ll love it. Service: this is a family run place, but no matter who is working that day they’ll be friendly and nice. Don’t expect table service or anything fancy, but they do keep the place clean and nice.

The fryer was broken so no Chicken Katsu. Ordered Kalbi Ribs good but not worth $ 12.99.2 Orders Teri Beef. It was tough & fatty. Teri sauce was ok. The ice machine was broken, no ice in it. The ice melted when soda was dispensed & no carbonation! $ 41!!!Maybe it was just bad day, but probably wont go back. Went to Mo’ Bettah Steak after leaving Aloha for dinner tonight! Yummy! 2 orders of Chicken Katsu &1 Steak & Chicken Combo.$ 29.04.Sorry Aloha, Mo’ Bettah is MO’ BETTAH!

I wish they had six stars to give. The pulehu steak is SOOOO good. Seasoned and flavorful, fresh and juicy. This place is going to be getting a lot of my business. The guys that run it are really cool dudes too. Always coming out and chatting and checking on ya. If you haven’t tried this place yet, you owe it to yourself to come check it out. I know I am gushing about this place a lot but I swear I am not related to the owners ha ha. Just super excited to have this awesome new place in my neighborhood!

Awesome staff, the owner was very helpful and courteous. I tried the pork, chicken and spam roll all were very good. I prefer this place over Mo Betta steaks, it tastes more authentic. I will definitely be back.

I think that this is a case of people overrating a place. The food was good, I won’t deny that it was not a bad meal. The service was slow, but it really is to be expected when you are dining a small family run business. The kid running the front register though was extremely courteous and friendly. I just can’t rate it any higher than a 3 star unfortunately. Nothing was bad, but at the same time nothing would bring me back.

I have tried the other mixed plate offerings in Davis County and have always left feeling disappointed. Not the case with the Grindz! Tender meats grilled to perfection, tangy authentic sauces, awesome Mac n Cheese, slightly sweet sticky rice, and a perfectly large serving size. This is a great dive just around the corner from the bowling alley. The closest thing to Aloha Mixed Plate not located on Front St. Find them and keep the tables full of customers. Nice job guys!
