We had an enjoyable experience at The West End Tavern. They have a lot of different spaces– both inside and out– and a significant amount of seating which was great. Our server was friendly and attentive, always a plus in a restaurant. My real negative about this place was the drinks– I didn’t like my margarita or sangria– probably wouldn’t even order a drink here in the future. My burger was delicious, I would definitely come back to this place for a burger in the future. My husband also enjoyed his po boy sandwich.

I dined with a friend here tonight, not knowing what to expect. We had the Burnt Tips and house Margs to start. The tips are delicious. And I ordered the smoked chicken for dinner. Best smoked chicken BBQ in Boulder. The sides were ok, and the coleslaw was like all coleslaw, food intended for rabbits. Service was ok. The food was very good.

We stopped by to have a light late lunch. I must say, the fish and chips are absolutely some of the best I have ever had! Huge and thick cod was quite tasty, outside was pretty crispy which was perfect! The hand cut fries tasted really POTATO, POTATO, POTATO! Very different flavor from frozen fries. Yum! The fish and chips are unforgettable for me. I ordered a cup of Soup De Jour(tomato soup with sour cream) without sour cream because I’m not very good at dairy products, but the waiter suggested it would be good adding sour cream since it is quite a spicy soup. So I compromised to add sour cream. He was right! I can imagine if the soup was without sour cream I could not eat it. Thanks for a good suggestion. Furthermore, before we visited here, I checked their online menu and noticed they offer pickled vegetables which my fav. So I was looking forward to ordering the pickled vegetables. I think it’s sort of rare to offer pickled veggies in this country. Glad to have it! All staff were affectionate and conscientious about their work. They have a variety of alcoholic drinks and a nice view from the patio. Fantastic atmosphere. It would be great to come here for drinks.(Although drinking is not my thing…) Even though we are not alcoholic drinkers, surely we’ll come here again!

My nephew decided to meet up for dinner at the tavern. It was an experience for us 30 y/o + ladies. It was rockin at every level of the restaurant. There was live music and a local beer being promoted with complimentary beer. The food was OK. My mother in law and I shared the pulled pork plate which had lots of hard pieces. My sister got a pulled pork grilled cheese and that was divine. The collard greens was bitter and hardly had flavor. The waffle fries are a must though! The service was OK as well. It’s pretty busy so you kind of have to really flag them down. It’s a cool hip place with lots of booze. If you like the outdoor atmosphere this is a perfect place. The roof top is so intimate and has a great view. Just try not to sit in the backside of the roof top.

Mediocre. Our food was ok, but they screwed up the order and one dish had a hair in it. F’ing Marg, their signature margarita, was the only thing good. But, I did get a timely and generous follow up to my review so I appreciate the customer service and going the extra mile. I’ll go back for the margarita.

Another good meal at West End Tavern. This time, I took my son and some college friends here for lunch. It was 2:30pm, so the restaurant was pretty empty. We sat inside upstairs, which is a nice, open bar area with tall tables. I ordered the Green Chile Bison Burger. The name is a little misleading. Normally, when a menu says green chile, they mean New Mexican green chile In this case, the burger is topped with roasted poblano chilies. They’re tasty; just not the same and no heat. Bison is pretty lean so I ordered it cooked medium rare. It was still a little on the dry side but still very good. The fries are good, standard fare. The other guys got the St. Louis style pork rib special, the Double Double double bacon cheeseburger, and the BBQ Pork sandwich. All the portions are large, which made 3 college guys happy. They all liked their food. The server was very friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly and warm. All was good with our lunch. Sure to return again!

YUMYUM tavern heaven. We loved this place. Visiting from Chicago some boulder friends took us here our second night. It was so good we came back our last night. Veggie burger was delicious as well as the old fashioned. My guy got the mac and cheese with pulled pork one night, and the burger the last night. Both equally scrumptious. I can so see this place being«the place» in the summer. I am still dreaming about the corn skillet. Highly recommend if your looking for some casual good food and drinks with great service.

I was greeted immediately by a relatively stressed out hostess, but the cool, suave, decent waiter made up for it. The food was perfect: a bbq pork sandwich with fries you might only find in heaven. I also got their pickled veggie thingy which was delicious and apparently very healthy. I loved the atmosphere, the speed of service and the piping hot food. I’d come back here in a heartbeat. And one more round of applause for the waiter. He’s on top of things.

«It’s anchorman not anchor-lady! And that’s a scientific fact! «lol The West End Tavern restaurant of Boulder, Colorado mistakenly calls Veronica Corningstone’s drink the Anchorman when in fact the Anchorman’s drink of choice is 3 fingers of Glenlivet(scotch) but I still have to give them props for naming a drink after the movie and including the quote«kick the vermouth in the side with a pair of steel-toed boots» in the description of the drink. I’m a huge fan of the Anchorman and the reference had me quoting all sorts of funny lines from the movie. The West End Tavern has the best view of the mountains in boulder from their rooftop patio. I highly recommend checking it out if the weather permits. Service was friendly and quick. Private parking lot on site with plenty of parking. The West End Tavern is true farm to table with an impressive long list of locally grown and raised Colorado products featured. They also have a great selection of local craft brews. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in town! Ron Burgundy: «Yes, I am going to have three fingers of Glenlivet with a little bit of pepper, and, uh, some cheese.» Veronica Corningstone: «Uh, I’ll take a Manhattan, and kick the vermouth in the side with a pair of steel-toed boots.»

We went to West End on New Year’s Eve and it was not to disappoint. The scene was low key with subtle«festiveness.» It’s was all about good food that night. I got the veggie burger which was a total knockout! So rich and creamy with the goat cheese; and the tomato jam: oh my! I could eat it with a spoon. Good fries, great smoked meats too.

Um. HEYBOURBONFANSTHISPLACEHASPAPPYVANWINKLE Yes, that required a major all caps. I literally haven’t ever seen this on a menu before, nevermind in stock, despite all the publicity the drink gets. Why? It’s incredibly rare. Experiencing it? Delicious, and in multiple vintages. Sigh. On the more Unilocaly note, the restaurant is nice, hipster, decent view, and by the way Boulder is quite nice and crisp for my Los Angeles friends. The air tastes distinctly non-smoggy — I love it. But again, back to the restaurant. Fish and chips are in. I love french fries. Burnt ends were not — they were pretty dry. Mac n cheese was decent. Overall I was satisfied with the meal, and wouldn’t mind coming back again due to the outdoor patio seating arrangement and all. But oh, the Pappy — some of my friends will demand a visit.

Went here with friends one night and got to enjoy dinner on their awesome patio. The veggie burger I had was super tasty and came on a delightfully fluffy bun. The accompanying slaw was amazing with lots of great herbal flavors. I definitely appreciated that the freshness of the slaw.

The food is good and the beer selection is plentiful but every time I come here, the service is awful. My first time here, I ordered smothered fries with no sour cream and it took 3 tries to get it right. Meaning the server actually brought them out with sour cream twice! One time, I ordered mac cheese and it had just a teaspoon of cheese on it. The last time trumps all: Our server John was so out of it. We had to ask him twice for ketchup and a soda refill. What kind of server serves fries, etc with no condiments?! He only offered another beer to one member of our table. Also, my girlfriend asked for a straw for her water right when we received them at the beginning but he never brought it. At one point, our drinks and plates were empty and we had been waiting for him to appear with the check but instead, we saw him sitting down, chatting with a nearby table! When he was done socializing you’d think he would check in on us, right? Wrong. We had to wave him down. Of course coming here was my suggestion since I usually overlook the service for the awesome pulled pork, mac cheese, wedge salad. Turned out to be quite the embarrassing choice.

Best mountain view in Boulder. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with the smell of smoke. But the pleasant kind of smoke. It smells of smoked salmon, and smoked meats, which when you see the menu, you notice, that’s what they are going for. There is cozy bar on the bottom, a little dark yet inviting but then you go up the stairs to a quaint patio that overlooks the flatirons w/draped little lights. The menu is small and simple w/prices from $ 9& up. We tried the goat cheese dip which was quite yummy. A little meager for 3, but goat cheese has such a powerful flavor, you didn’t mind too much. They have great happy hour pricing, especially on the food. Myself and my cousin ordered the Tavern burger for $ 5 and I added avocado $ 1 and smoked cheddar $ 1. Fries $ 2, big enough to share. It is was pretty good. Nothing too remarkable. My boyfriend had the smoked pulled pork sandwich that towered a half foot high with a solid fried onion sandwiched in the middle. It was so large he could only eat half. But was very good. Due to the rooftop patio view alone, we came back one last time while in Boulder after hiking Chautauqua. I would love to come back again during happy hour to try some more apps. Only con — bees and flies everywhere for some reason. Harmless honey bees, but they can be a little bothersome to some people.

A last minute find via Unilocal… sign out front says Beer, Bourdon and BBQ! We went for lunch so didn’t order any beer or bourdon, but their selection of bourdon was the best I’ve ever seen! And the prices were great as well. We started our lunch experience by sharing the deviled eggs appetizer. I love deviled eggs! And these were delicious… topped with a dab of hot sauce… perfect! My husband ordered the Carolina pulled pork sandwich with French fries and I ordered the daily special… smoked turkey rueben with side order of cole slaw. Both of our meals were good… I wasn’t fond of the cole slaw but that’s because I’m from the south and don’t care for vinegar based cole slaw… I like my Mayo! Next time we’ll come back for dinner so that we can do a bourdon tasting!

Our family went to The West End Tavern at the end of our day touring the CU campus and we weren’t disappointed. Had a decently big group and were seated immediately on their patio which is a very nice size and have a little bit of a view of the Flat Irons if you look around the corner. Our server was very attentive and patient with us. For an appetizer, we ordered the burnt ends. They were very well seasoned and bite size so easy to eat and share. For entrée’s, we all ordered burgers of some sort. Their burgers are not just your typical burger — the meat is delicious and the buns are more high end. They’ve got great fries as well! The only thing that isn’t great about sitting on the top level patio is that you have to walk down 4 flights of stairs to get the bathroom but they can’t really change that. Overall, if I were coming back to the Boulder area, I would come back!

We had a mostly good experience at West End on Friday night. We got a table on the rooftop patio within 10 minutes and it was beautiful up there on a warm summer night! We all had Boulder Passports so our server got us our«Not Your Grandma’s Bourbon & Ginger» cocktails right away. I got the pulled pork platter and thought it was pretty good. The slaw on the side was refreshingly light, as opposed to the mayo-heavy stuff you usually get elsewhere. The downsides were that the sweet potato fries were WAY oversalted! And that’s coming from someone who loves salt. Also, there was some sort of technical difficultly going on with their string lights which made it feel like we were eating dinner under a strobe light. All salt and light issues aside, I enjoyed West End.

We ended up at The West End Tavern on a rainy night in Boulder when we were looking for a spot for after dinner drinks. The downstairs area was very crowded, so we head upstairs for our drinks. The staff was very nice. We had more than 1 staff member that helped guide us to finding a spot to sit as we were originally standing. They had a very good local craft beer menu, which we all willingly chose off of. The atmosphere upstairs was very relaxed and there were a lot of groups in there and a good mix of people. I wish that we hadn’t eaten because the food at West End Tavern looked great. If my memory serves me correct, I remember seeing someone eating a BBQ sandwich of some sort and it smelled delightful! I can’t speak to the taste of the food, but the smell was great. All in all, a nice Pearl St spot!
