Star Nails

I was pretty disappointed with my most recent visit. I asked for a mani/​pedi and upgraded to shellac for my hands. The whole time the girl was impatient. I was out in less than an hour and less than 24 hours later the shellac chipped! The pedi, ended up chipping on the second day, without apparent cause. I won’t be going back to this place.

I just stopped in for a pedicure while my dog was getting groomed at Petco. I was a little nervous about the bad reviews but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Like most salons, I wouldn’t go here if I were in a hurry, but my pedicure was completely satisfactory. I just got the regular pedicure for $ 25. Two ladies took turns working on my feet and I was very happy with the long calf and ankle massage (especially nice since I’m 8 months pregnant!) They did a very nice job overall. I would definitely stop in again.

You are smoking something if you come here & are remotely satisfied. I needed one nail fixed and I work near this salon so I stopped in for what I thought would take max 10 minutes. I was fine with a different color since my normal salon is in westminster. I would say it took 10 minutes alone to explain I had pink & whites. Powder not polish! He started doing my nails in the slowest strangest way. Then we finally all figure out I want powder. It took him 3 times to get it on and do it right and it still wasn’t right. I told him I had to leave and forget it. He rushed to attempt to fix and sealed his disgusting mess w base coat. He couldn’t even shape my nail. And they still charged me $ 5 for a nail. So you like to sit there forever only for your nails to look like total shit come here.

This used to be a great family owned business that I visited monthly for almost 5 years, but with the new owners it’s gone downhill. Sloppy work, not as clean and not as friendly. Sad to see one if my fave places go wrong.

I really like this family run business, everyone is genuine and friendly. I’d say their pedicures are better than their manicures though, unless it’s a slow day when they will take the time to do your hands just as well as they did your feet. Their main issue is they never buy new nail polishes, it’s a shame because they would do much better! I am still loyal though due to their cheap prices and friendliness.

I should have known when I walked in mid-​day Sunday and the place was empty that it was going to be bad. Pedicure was good, but shellac manicure took twice the time it should have and was terrible. Not only did it not last like it should have, but she suggested a stupid design which she ruined when applying the top coat. By that time I had been there for two hours and I wanted to leave.

Recently a wonderful friend treated me to a pedicure at Star Nails. It is run by a very nice, professional, and efficient Vietnamese family. They helped me to choose the most durable nail polish. I found a great colour. The pedicure lasted about an hour and was so relaxing I just about fell asleep. I kept wishing I could understand what the family was talking about so animatedly as they passed around a piece of paper and all looked at it. I was impressed with the fact that out of 7 or so people who were were there, no one in the family was on the computer. In this day and age that’s amazing. Nice place.

Got a mani and pedi here. If you don’t mind having your feet and hands worked on at once, then there’s nothing else to complain about. She also asked me beforehand if it was okay to do both at once, which I appreciated.
They were friendly and thorough. And for the price, pretty good for Boulder!

I got acrylic french tip nails when i came here. The staff is friendly and they did mine and my friend’s nails exactly to our own specifications. There are no bubbles in the nails and i predict they will stay on for a while. I will definitely be back here next time I’m in town

This is one of the worst nail salons I have ever been to. I came in for a pedicure and the first thing I noticed was that it smelled a little funky. The towels to put your feet on were also dirty with nail polish residue. The lady giving me the pedicure did give me a nice long foot massage but the pedicure was messy and all over the cuticles and sides. When she was done she didn’t say a word. She just left me in the chair and went to do her friend’s nails. The whole thing was just very weird and the only plus was that they have a cute dog in the salon. Do not go here if you want a quality pedicure and quality service.

Beware of their so-​called «UV gel»!!!
I have been going to this salon for 5 years and I’m shocked at what happened. First my 1^st time getting my UV gel filled took TWO hours. AND I had to go back the next day because they just didn’t look right. They fixed them with no charge which was great but…
I just went to a salon in PA to get them filled while on vacation and I learned that my nails were really acrylic with a single layer of gel on top! (That would expIain why my nails itched as I’m allergic to acrylic). I asked many questions before I had the «UV gel» put on at Star Nails and trusted my salon of 5 years. I’m so disappointed that they would do something like this and sadly I will NEVER go to them again. Go somewhere else if you want gel.
