It might seem odd to give five stars to my physical therapist when I’m not yet over my injury, but Dr. Hanson is dealing with chronic, stubborn, multi-layered injuries in my case. I came to him unable to even walk normally or without pain. After years of searching for and not finding anyone who could provide some kind of relief or even provide some answers, I finally found someone who could tell me exactly what my injuries are and why they weren’t healing with rest. Though the treatment sessions can be uncomfortable, they are not as painful as ones I have endured in the past, ones that left me limping and worse off in the following days. Dr. Hanson takes a professional approach and is extremely good about listening to what I’m saying about my recovery. He understands the emotional pain that comes with physical injury and is great about being supportive in any way he can. For me, a good therapist is more than someone who can treat the injury. I respond better when I’m working with someone who is compassionate, understanding and positive, lifting my hopes when it gets tough to do so on my own. I would definitely recommend High Altitude Spine & Sport, not just to athletes, but to anyone who is in need of a good PT.

Oh how I love being the first to review especially when I don’t have to think twice about giving 5 whole stars. Truth be told, I was friends with Dr. Hansen before he was my DC but don’t think for a second that is the only reason he gets 5 stars. In fact, my dear Unilocal friends, it has nothing to do with it. It has everything to do with the amazing work he does and how much better I feel every time I leave his office. Let me start by saying that I am a massage therapist who has a certain bias about chiropractors. I don’t like them quite frankly. I’m a firm believer in the face that you can adjust the joints all you want but it’s tight muscles that keep pulling them out of place. So why would I pay all that money to see someone for 6.5 seconds and then have to go see them a gajillion times? I wouldn’t. Dr. Hansen is different though. The first consult can take about an hour. Most of that time is spent doing Active release therapy, which is a type of soft tissue work that I would compare to something like Rolfing. It’s definitely uncomfortable but you leave feeling like everything can move as its supposed to and a couple inches taller too. I think that because all that time is spent on the muscles, the adjustment lasts significantly longer. If you are going to spend the money, he is the guy to see. He knows his stuff, is really good at what he does. Trust me, you won’t regret this one.
