Marianna’s L’Esthetique Medi Spa

I have been going to Marianna’s now for almost 6 months. I get monthly facials and am in the process of having laser hair removal on my bikini. I also use Marianna’s skin line for my dry skin. I can’t speak enough about how great the staff, services and products are. I am always greeted warmly, and cared for at a personal level. My skin looks amazing and is hydrated which I can’t say it has ever been since moving here in 2002. And, frankly, the hair removal is just about as pleasant as it can be. If you want to take better care of your skin, you need to call Marianna’s.

After having been traveling for a couple of weeks, my skin was on shut down mode. You know the look, no amount of makeup can mask the exhaustion airplane and multiple time zones that surface as fine lines, reminiscent of a road map! So, I popped into this salon for a facial with Gabrielle and voila… relief, only better. The spa carries a solid line of products that are really suited for dehydrated skin (ahhh, Boulder is dry), plus there are as assortment of services for the entire spa experience.
Gabrielle is a skin expert and not afraid to take command of your face! I left feeling refreshed and satisfied that I had found a perfect source for med spa services when I’m in Boulder.

I went to Marianna’s for a facial. It was a huge disappointment. My esthetician was friendly but was very aggressive about up-​selling medical spa treatments. She continued to suggest medi treatments throughout the entire facial even after I told her I was not interested multiple times. My facial was also done in the «injectable» room. It was not relaxing at all, and was not stocked for the facial (the esthetician left frequently to get products). The locker room is nothing special and I would not recommend Marianna’s to other spa junkies. I do understand that Marianna’s is a medi spa the aggressive attempts to sell me on procedures that I would only trust to a dermatologist left a bad taste in my mouth.

I went to Marianna’s for three years and was always a happy client. The facials and microderm were fantastic, even if a little pricey. I always got my eyebrows waxed here and was pleased with the services. Well, I recently moved back to Boulder and was excited to go back to Marianna’s. I have an infant son, so I had to get a babysitter so I could go get my eyebrows waxed. This was my first outing out after baby, so I was excited to get out of the house even if it was for a wax! My appointment was at 2:00. I arrived at 1:50 so I could just sit and relax for a few minutes. I was still sitting at 2:45. I kindly mentioned this to the front desk at 2:20 and they assured me I would be taken care of shortly. 3:00 came around and I had to tell them that either someone had to see me or I had to leave because my sitter could only stay until 3:30. I was so disappointed because this was once one of my very favorite places to go in Boulder. It is no longer as great as it once was.

This was the first spa I had ever been to, but I needed some hair removed, and was impressed by other reviews on this site… so I gave it a try.
The staff were absolutely amazing! Friendly, respectful, and very sympathetic to the plight of a straight man who has absolutely no idea what he’s doing in this regard. Sharon did a great job, and made some excellent recommendations on things I could do at home to improve the quality of my skin. (The best kinds of recommendations… the ones that don’t actually cost anything!)
My only complaints are about the location (typical fight for parking in Boulder, get there early), and that there was no mirror in the room where the waxing was done… so I couldn’t check the work (which would have resulted in me noticing the small area that was missed).
However, to me, these are very minor and I still plan on going back for some additional work in the future. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone, male or female, for any kind of personal care.

I went back with my friend so that she could get a massage on her birthday. I got a facial. During my facial, my face started tingling and turning red and I wasn’t getting any kind of peel. This has never happened to me before. My face ended up peeling for a full week after the treatment. To top it all off, I came out of the appointment to find that my friend had never received her massage. They forgot her appointment. Happy Friggin Birthday. So disappointing.

I’ve heard that Marianna herself is second to none as an aesthetician, but I come here for the massages. They have one of the best massage therapists working in Colorado. I’ve had massages all over the world and have been going to massage therapists for decades and can confidently say that Naneki at Marianna’s gives the best massage I have ever had, anywhere, period. And I’ve talked to other people who say the exact same thing. Her forte is deep tissue and you just have to experience it when you’re in Boulder to see what I mean.
