I love Harlequin’s Gardens! Everyone there is an excellent knowledgable resource for native plants, organic gardening, and my favorite, ROSES! The only sell own-root roses, and they have a spectacular rose list. This is one of my favorite summer places.

Knowledgable staff and an incredible selection of plants! The native and xeric plants are especially lovely given Boulder’s high desert prairie climate. There’s always something new in bloom, or a plant you never noticed before. Sure to attract hummingbirds, bees and other pollinators galore to your garden!

I think Susan S. needs to remember why she came to this place and not let her personal beliefs cloud her judgment. Yes, the owners and staff could be described as hippies but this place is great because of it. Their emphasis is on native and water-conscious plants and their knowledge is vast. If you need some inspiration you can walk around in their beautiful gardens, or just ask a staff member for some suggestions. My wife and I were recently planning a xeriscape garden and came in with a design and they helped us every step of the way, tweaking the design and offering alternatives. I also took a xeriscape class earlier this summer that was led by one of the owners and he is a wealth of knowledge. We’re looking forward to doing more business with Harlequin’s.

My first experience here was walking up the path way to see the owners cat with a live small bunny in its mouth. When I grabbed the cat to rescue the bunny the owner explained how this was just a natural event. I have news for you, domestic cats are in no way a natural part of our environment. This is a well fed housecat that is allowed to slaughter our birds and other wildlife because this moron thinks it’s acceptable. What a hypocrite to advocate bees and native plants and then let your domestic cat kill the wildlife because it suits your purposes. I was fully prepared to purchase hundreds of dollars of beekeeping supplies. I will never return. Do not shop here if you care at all for our natural world.

Harlequin’s Gardens is the most delightful place ever. Could turn a non-gardener into a gardener…(me). Rows and rows of trees and plants that can thrive in our often-dry earth in our wacky weather. They even have recommendations for people who just about never remember to water their gardens. My name for it is zeroscape. Anyway, the people who are helping me with my new flagstone patio and some landscaping in my yard encouraged me to meet them here a few weeks ago, and I’m glad I did! The owners and people who work here are so knowledgeable and helpful and my yard looks bright and bountiful, and the plants stay alive even when I forget to water. Honestly, I wish it would rain more, like it usually does in the summer. Join me in a raindance, anyone?

This is not your average Home Depot nursery… It’s hidden gem for anyone who likes plants. I just moved here, and am living in my own house with my own yard for the first time. So I know little to nothing about gardening and what to plant and when. But I do have priorities– I like things that are native, don’t use lots of water, and organic whenever possible. This place is a family-owned nursery tucked away in North Boulder that embraces all of those values. And they are helpful! And patient! All the plants that they sell are either native or well-adapted to our climate, so you won’t spend a fortune watering and fertilizing a garden that is doomed to fail. A wonderful resource for anyone into gardening!
