Boulder Custom Tailoring

This guy is NOT professional AT ALL! I went here to get specific measurements needed for my wedding dress. I didn’t know what to expect but I thought a woman would at least be the one taking them and maybe in a back room. He had me standing in the middle of the store in my bra, and at one point asked me to show him where my nipples were for a measurement that was not even needed. During this, a girl came in to pick something up and he was frantic trying to find it and explain to her it wasn’t there and to go look through the racks herself. All around extremely unprofessional, and uncomfortable. In the end the dress company informed me that several of the measurements could not possibly be right and that I needed to get them retaken. I went somewhere else and got the correct measurements, and when called to speak with a manager and explain why I felt I should get a refund, the ”manager” was the same guy. He was very rude to me about the entire thing and proceeded to tell me I wasted HIS time and that he would not refund me or do anything to make it right. Not impressed by anything having to do with this company.

We took a suit to this alterations store. When we went to pick it up a week later, only some of the things they were supposed to fix were done. The owner was really nice upon pickup, but only part of the work was done and he said there was no way to do some of the items that we needed and were promised to us. He said they could not alter the shoulder and there was no way to fix the chest gaping on the suit coat. I wasn’t there for the item drop off so I couldn’t be sure what exactly was said, but it sounds like there was some misunderstanding on my fiancé’s part. But they did say they would fix the shoulders and that they would move the button. neither of those items was completed. and yet, they still made us pay for them! The price was over $ 130!
And we still had to buy a new suit. I called back to discuss how expensive the charge was as it seems completely out of line with the industry for the work that was completed. The man I spoke to was NOT nice. I told him that I understood that there was some misunderstanding, but that doesn’t account for the astronomical fee for ½ the work (we knew if the shoulders and chest were altered it would have been expensive). The son then claimed that they did alter the shoulder, although the father said they couldn’t and DID NOT. They also didn’t alter the button for the jacket. He asked me what I wanted and I said that I would like a partial refund. after telling him I felt like ½ refund was fair considering he didn’t alter the shoulders or closure and I couldn’t detect any leg tapering (although I didn’t ask for a refund for this), he changed his mind and said he wouldn’t give a refund at all and he called my fiancé a liar. He did offer me store credit, but how can I go back to a store that charges for work not complete, goes back and forth on what was done/​can be done and is unprofessional. I will not go back to this alterations store again and I warn others about doing so.

Needed 5 pairs of pants hemmed on short notice. The pants were done well and they were even able to get them done on a Saturday in less than 5 hours.

My husband needed last minute tailoring on a new suit before a business trip and we needed it the same day. We didn’t get the suit to them until 2:30pm on a Saturday. They had it properly tailored by 4:30pm. I was very impressed by the turnaround and also the great service while in the store. Definitely will return.

I don’t normally get my clothing tailored, but I found this place and will not use another (as long as I am in Boulder, that is)!!

I just got my dress pants back from Boulder custom tailoring and I couldn’t be happier! I was referred by a friend who had been bringing her stuff there for years. They are happy, friendly and produced great work! I’m also happy with the price, $ 14 to finish the cuffs. I had been quoted between $ 20 and $ 49 at other places!!! It was an easy in and out process, I think I spent 10 minutes there between both trips!

I have been going to Boulder Custom Tailoring for a long time and service and quality are of the utmost importance to me. It’s very disappointing to see the extremist review below so I felt it necessary to provide another perspective. Bilal and Gokhan are literally some of the nicest and most professional people I have had the pleasure to do business with. I have recommended them to many of my friends, family, and employees and I’ve only heard how impressed they were. I haven’t received a single complaint based on my recommendations. Additionally, I have had them tailor most of my wardrobe since I’m a size that generally needs adjusted and they have delivered every single time — which is very impressive because I am very discerning and detail oriented when it comes to how I look given my job profession and my appreciation for well fitting clothes. They have been doing professional tailoring for 20 years and it shows. I can’t recommend them highly enough for men’s and women’s tailoring.
Concerning the language barrier that may have led to the reviewer’s frustration, any comments that were made must have been taken the wrong way due to cultural differences since they are originally from Turkey. Gohkan (Bilal’s son) is excellent with English (a bit better than Bilal) and tries to handle most of the customer communication. Both are honest, fair, professional, and genuinely friendly with their customers. And as for knowing their craft, I never have had a more skillful tailor than Bilal and Gokhan and that is compared to much larger cities than Boulder as I have a tailor in every city I’ve lived in and have traveled a lot in my life.
I hope this is helpful. This is a family business, of genuinely good people, that puts their heart and soul into their craft and I think that needs to be reflected in these reviews.

I always use Boulder Tailoring for all my sewing needs. They do an excellent job every time. The family that owns this is always super friendly and eager to help in any way they can. They work to get you your items back as soon as possible.

I just returned from Boulder Custom Tailoring for the last time. I took in a jacket for a simple patch job and reapplication of a button. Since i did not need the jacket back in a hurry i allowed a full weeks time for the job. When i returned on saturday, a date they decided upon, the jacket hadnt been moved from where i watched them hang it the week prior. They apologized and asked that i come back in today. Sure enough i returned to see my jacket still hanging in the same place! Once again they apologized and insisted that i wait while they finally tailor my jacket after a week and a half of sitting on a hanger. So I held my tongue and allowed them to do their job. I waited a week and a half for a job that took 15 minutes AND was still charged full price! They explained that they are short staffed which i understand, but I dont see how thats my problem. Needless to say i will not be going back and i hope you do the same.

The head tailor knows his stuff. (I can only speak to his knowledge of men’s clothing). He’ll listen to your wants, but also make suggestions of his own which you should probably listen to. Quite realistic about what can and should be done. Neither him or his son have ever tried to oversell me – knowing that it is sometimes better to start over with a new garment than completely deconstruct an existing one at tremendous cost. I’ve seen the results of major suit alterations done by him (narrowing shoulders and adjusting collars) and have been impressed.
He’s taken in numerous sport coats for me with attention to how different cuts should fit, whether I’ll possible want a sweater or not, etc. Straight, well finished seems. Same on the tailored shirts, and hemmed pants. They’ve taken the extra minutes to fix a loose button and steam out any jacket oddities for no charge.
Prices are reasonable and have always been done on the stated date for me: $ 39 for taking a waist of a jacket in, $ 22 for sides+sleeves+darts of on a shirt, $ 12 for just darts, ~10−15 for a hem.

Great service! These guys fixed a suit another alterations shop messed up. They cost more but the suit fit perfectly when they had finished. They also took in a dress shirt which I think I’ll be doing to all of my shirts from now on.

I have been going here for some time now and I have always been very pleased with their work. They are very friendly and I like supporting a family-​owned business. They have tailored a number of karate uniforms for me and they have always done an excellent job on.

My experience with Boulder Custom Tailoring was one of shoddy work, which I brought to their attention, to be met by an unapologetic employee with a chip on his shoulder. Completely unprofessional service and unwillingness to even talk about the problem. He raised his voice at me, told me if I didn’t like the work to not come back, then turned his back and walked away from me. This is a Unilocal review, and a low one, so you’re probably thinking I had a part in this and you’re getting one side of the story. In fact I kept my voice low, words direct and calm, and addressed them as adults, which was met by aggressive posturing, raising of his voice, and an unwillingness to continue the conversation. The work on two torn pairs of jeans was shoddy and amateur — unmatched thread color overlayed on hanging white threads — on blue denim — and they tried to say it was fashionable when I told them it looked terrible. I’m having it fixed by another tailor who gasped when I showed them what I got back from BCT. Caveat Emptor. Hey guys, I tried to talk about it, but when I’m being yelled at by the employees I don’t think there’s much I can do other than try to warn others via Unilocal

Oh, how I love excellent service, and this family owned business really knows service. They were friendly and helpful from the initial phone call through the pick up. Other places I called hedged when I asked if they could do a slightly faster turn around. One place whined about how busy they were and maybe they could fit me in over the next week. Boulder Custom Tailoring said to come right in and of course they could turn it around quickly.
I didn’t know much about tailoring but it really made me feel fancy. They explained what my choices were and were fast and enjoyable to work with.
I see that other people have said they are pricier. Maybe you pay extra for the decades of experience, impeccable service and a beautiful job done with your clothes. I thought it was more than worth it!

Took in a dress for graduation and some slacks to be shortened. They are very friendly, family operated and they do a good job. They are pricier than other places, but I was happy with my experience (s).

I have been going to Baleil and his son for years. I’ve NEVER been disappointed. Not only are they excellent tailors they are nice guys who still address me as «ma’am». Chivalry is not lost on me!
They have tailored the following: formal evening dresses (taken in on bust and let out on hips), pants, leather pants and jacket (made a jacket fitted from a more boxy style), suits and made a long skirt into a mini.
I also brought my dear grandmother here and have referred a few friends — all have had rave reviews, except one. I’m not sure of the details but I know she was not pleased. SO although I have had a 5 star experience, my review is a 4. I also don’t find them more expensive than others in Boulder. and most the time you get what you pay for.

While they may cost a little more than your average place… they do a great job. While in my search for a place to take a few items I found that most of the dry cleaner owners take their items needing tailoring to Boulder Custom Tailoring. I’ve taken in several items and they have all turned out great.

What a train wreck of a tailor, first of all, they are pricey. Second, believe it or not my pants legs differ by 1″, my legs aren’t that different, & the break is at different points in the front, I think any dry cleaner could have done a better job.
